First and foremost, I appreciate you for expressing the real sentiments of Goans and their hatred towards non-Goans. You have to understand that Goa, during the Portuguese time and even upto the late 1980s, was a big village. Everyone knew everyone and even their grandparents. Goa had a sustainable economy with every Goan having his own house, an orchard of coconut, cashew and mango trees, and a field to cultivate. That way Goans were content with what they had. Hindus, Catholics and Muslims of Goa, used to live like brothers and sisters and partake in the festivals, weddings, funerals, and other social functions of each other. We Goans were like one big family. Fast forward to 2021, Goa has been inundated with migrants from every corner of India - the rich and the poor. The rich wants a slice of the land and businesses and the poor wants to earn a living which they probably cannot do so in their home states. Almost half of the land, property, apartments and businesses are now owned by non-Goans. Even interior villages are not spared from the influx of non-Goans, who have now captured traditional Goan businesses such as vegetable and grocery stores. These non-Goans have a culture of opening their shops are 8 a.m. and closing it past 9 p.m. without any rest. Goans had a culture of siesta, which means a period of rest in the afternoon after lunch. Siesta (which people call it susegado now and infers it to laziness) was taken because of the hot and humid climate in Goa. Basically, the ideal working hours of a Goan used to be 8 hours, with 8 hours of rest and 8 hours for pursing other activities such as music, tiatros, visiting relatives and friends, attending parties and funerals and so on. Australia and most of the European countries follow the same rule of work, rest and play of 8 hours. This cultural aspect of Goans was scorned by the non-Goans and they started calling Goans as lazy people. So the first casualty of the penetration of non-Goans into Goan businesses is siesta. Most non-Goans have the preconceived notion that every Goan girl or woman or for that matter any Goan girl wearing a short skirt or a bikini is of loose morals and easy prey. It is normal for Goans to wade in the waters at a beach in shorts or bikinis and not in sarees or salwars as many non-Goans do. The worst part is the ogling. Most non-Goan men ogle at our women and girls as if they have never seen a part of human flesh in their lives. And when they are drunk, they make advances and even grope our girls and women. Goans perceive such non-Goans as uncouth, perverts, mannerless as they burp loudly in a restaurant after eating food and for their unclean dirty habits of spitting and chewing paan. It is for these reasons, Goans hate the non-Goans as they feel that our culture and their culture do not gel. I think the rest of the reasons why Goans hate non-Goans have been exemplary covered by you. Kudos for that. A small correction about your historical fact on Vasco da Gama. Vasco da Gama reached India after rounding the Cape of Good Hope in 1497 and not in 1524. He arrived at Calicut on the Malabar Coast, which is in Kerala now at a place called Kappad. Goa was conquered by Afonso de Albuquerque in 1510 from Adil Shah, a Muslim ruler. Unlike British India, Portugal considered Goa as their overseas territory and all Goans as Portuguese citizens. It is for this reason that Goans born before 1961 and their two generation are still eligible for Portuguese nationality. The Indian nationality was imposed upon Goans after 1961 during the military administration of Goa. Portugal recognized the sovereignty of India over Goa only in 1975. In a nutshell, the influx of non-Goans into Goa has destroyed the way of life of Goans, their work-ethics, communal harmony, eating habits, businesses and robbed them of their land. Worse, Goans fear that soon they will become a minority in their own land. Anyway, overall you have done a good job to throw light on those non-Goans who think that Goa is Pattaya and anything goes on. Cheers!

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this video and explaining what we are ( GOANS ). You have done your homework 💯. Hate is not the word I suggest but the culture of our Indian brothers and sisters simply doesn’t match with the Goan culture. In other words when you visit Goa keep your culture back at home and enjoy what we offer you. Certainly we do keep our Beaches clean, the Roads , and beauty of our Nature flora and fauna. I wish I meet you personally and explain the meaning of Ghanti word. Meaning of this word is just been misused or misunderstood by some people. But thousands thx to you. Please do visit Goa. Nicely expressed! Another reason why we Goans hate 'Ghantis' is because the crime rate has increased in the past few years, due to influx of migrants. The entire lot of people coming to Goa for a living are looked down upon because of a few. This reason has also impacted the safety of women in the state. Liked the format in which you explained. GOLDEN GOA" is the word to describe its Natural beauty, and. " SUSEGAD" are the people of Goa. Initially outsiders were called Ghantis as these people came from across neighbouring state of Karnataka through the GHATS. Nowadays we come across people from all over the country which isn't a problem. Some are very nice, gentle and loving people . And there are others that come to Goa are rude, always loud and abusive, stare at women, stand in the middle of Roads like Cows except the cows sit. do not follow traffic rules. In Short Goans are peace loving, caring , humble and God fearing people, if you do not have these qualities, one has to avoid Goa. ADEUS.

As a Goan, I absolutely agree with all of your reasons!!! Although, I'd like to add another point to your list... You touched upon it briefly but I'd like to elaborate further. We have been receiving false publicity all around that someone can consume alcohol anywhere in Goa and there won't be consequences... So I've seen tourists who literally ride bikes while holding a beer can in their hand!!!! I've grown up in the coastal belt so this has been a very common sight.. The fact that they couldn't care less about our rules and regulations absolutely disgusts me!!!! Why do they think it's fine to do such things in our state when they wouldn't do it in their own??? And not to mention the ruckus/ traffic they cause due to drunk driving... Anyway, I commend your detailed explanation👌🏼 Thanks for being utterly precise about our feelings✌️ I'm a first time visitor to your channel and this video is really good!!! A thumbs up from me👍

I'm from Kerala and my wife is a Goan from Sancoale, Vasco. Whatever he said are points that my wife tells me, kind of on a daily basis. Prior to marriage, I also was shown in the media the image that Goa is a state where you can do whatever he hell you want. It was after our marriage that I spend a considerable time roaming around Goa with my wife that my whole perception of Goa changed. In one word, I should say that Goa is exactly like Kerala in terms of the landscape and climate, but with a way chilled out people. When my Goan wife comes to Kerala wearing shorts, she gets stares as if she is a celebrity like Virat Kohli. The stares make all the good things I talk to her about Kerala engulfed in that embarrassment. When I walk in a lungi in Goa, people do stare thinking what is he wearing, but those are never uncomfortable stares. They are a bunch of people who mind their own business and do not bother about the other persons dressing or behavior. As said in the video, you can pick a Goan from an outsider by simply noticing the chill factor. Goa is just a wonderful state with wonderful people. I always get a king like feeling when I visit my mother in law or other people in Goa who know me through my wife. I've even taken my wife at midnight to Bogmalo beach and spend time till 1am there with no issues at all. This I can do at Kozhikode beach also, but for sure, some random sadachara police will have khujli seeing us sit like that at that "time ". Many people have tried to put my wife into that Mallu box just because she is married to me. As we agreed prior to marriage, I always accept that she is a Goan, and not a mallu girl, and she also understands that if her husband has to choose between her and porotta+beef, the latter would always win. So in short, enjoy in Goa, but stay in your limits. Don't think that the women you see there in the beaches or casinos or anywhere are there as your bounty. Feel free to check our journey with #munchkinwedspumpkin or #keralawedsgoa.

I have been visiting goa since 1975. My forefathers were goans who had to migrate due to religious persecution. But that's another story. I do agree with you on many points. Namely, unruly behaviour of tourists. Principally from the north. I know from personal experience that trade and business have now changed hands from the locals to immigrants with big money. You have mentioned land mafia and profiteering from development activities. That's right. But please show me one state in India, where it does not happen. This is a sellers market. Prices can only skyrocket. From what I know, mining was the only industrial activity in early post independence days in Goa. Even then, very few locals opted to engage in manual labour. So labourers from Andhra and Karnataka settled here. As you must be aware, true blue goans were/are prone to susegad attitude. Businesses small or big, cannot operate on those lines any longer. Especially with a spurt in population. People need quick service and value for money. Are the locals in a position to provide that? Do they have that mindset? I don't have any such experience. Now about jobs. Securing a job is not a right. If you have the right skillsets, yes you can get a job. Otherwise someone with a better work profile and also willing to be hired at a lower cost is bound to snatch it away from you. Period. So it's time goencars awaken to this fact. Now getting to the crux of the issue, lands were not snatched away. They were sold by the locals, perhaps willingly, perhaps not so willingly. Drugs. Allegedly sold by foreigners, but definitely helped along by locals. With a good amount of help from politicians. Prostitution. Does exist. As everywhere else. In fact it's the oldest known profession historically. Goa has the highest p.c income thanks to overseas remittances. It has nothing to do with local industry or agriculture,or trade, save for the tourism industry. Now with this newly spawned hatred for outsiders,I wonder how long that distinction can exist. The USP of goan tourism industry is liquor alone So far as beaches go,I'm sure Karnataka has better virgin beaches. Kerala has a much superior infrastructure for tourism. But liquor is not cheap there. And when liquor and tourists come together, the only outcome is filth, eve teasing, and unruly behaviour. The immediate remedy is to shore up policing, improve public sanitation and impose heavy fines for littering. These are my impressions on the issue. You and perhaps others too, may not agree with me. But as you have made it amply clear, this is a logical debate/discussion. So there it is.!

Being a goan, I surely agree with U sir, due to my work I have also been traveling around india and each n every state doesn't discriminate me by saying GATI/OUTSIDER which usually goan's say...but the matter of fact is *Few goan's r lazy and they don't like to work under anyone that's y u see many of outsiders being hired. Goan's need to teach younger generation to forget that they r *bhatkar ( landlords)... GOAN'S we need to support our people in thick n thin..Promote local things that can ultimately put it on world map...( Which goan influencers do )

I really thank you from the bottom of my Heart for this Video..... We Goan and peace loving people and very welcoming we will never interfere with anyone unnecessarily... I remember since the time I was growing how the State of Goa was and how Goa is now ....I would say there is massive difference we all used to live in Harmony no matter which religion we never have Hatred amoung us or we never hated any tourist or anyone from other states .....But now what is happening is these people who have settled in Goa they dome rescpet the land and the people ...there is so much filth around ...so many criminal activities happening land mafia......Brother all we ask and say is come to Goa enjoy yourself and respect the land and the people and our culture Goa is much more then just parties......I personally have confronted so many tourist when I see them littering ....cooking in th road side and keeping the Garbage behind so many tourist drink in the Beach and break the bottles on the beach and bury the broken bottles 🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️ ....... we will never go to any other ask do the same .....So we also expect the same as will never go to another state and grab their land and build houses or do illegal things and yes many north Indian who are filthy rich they come and do Dadagiri here which is not right ......I hope this video reaches Many fellow Indian who come to Goa....... PLEASE RESPECT OUR LAND AND OUR CULTURE ...Thanks .....Sir much respect to you

Unfortunately this is a reality of all Colonial states, UTs and hill stations of India like Goa, Pondicherry, Diu, Daman, Bassein, Ooty, Manali etc. In some cases locals have lost their identity and forced to migrate. Local people are neglected. Local resources exploited for appeasement.

Your statements and information provided in detail is like a ground zero report and I am surprised to hear all this from a person not originally from Goa is awesome. You have ike and following from a Goan islander.

Very beautiful explained..as a person from goan origin , I appreciate what you said , explained and its true , We hope, public of other state understand and behave accordingly when in goa .... Goan don't say don't come to work as labour's, but work ,make money n please go back to ur homeland n develop it , spread the awareness of cleanines , respect every religion, do family planning , take care of families with better prospects... Goa is small state, small land .. If all public start migrating in goa, then where goan future family will live ? How about nature....? We don't need over development in goa , not many unnecessary bridges , roads, over mega constructions..bcz we want to save goa beauty , culture and tradition alive for our future generation.
