Absolute literal invisibility is something that would be invaluable to military operations. By remaining unseen in any capacity, you could remain undetected and get what you need. But to do so, would have a few drawbacks that would need to be understood. How exactly could you do that and what would those be? Lets discuss that in todays episode!
Thank you for watching Roanoke Gaming and I Hope you enjoy Why Hollow Mans Vision SHOULD NOT EXIST

@@MsSharkDemon I'm not familiar with the Invisible Man lore, however I don't think any movie adaptation has followed this detail and instead opt for him to be completely invisible. yeah exactly, the back portion of the eye wasn't affected by the bleaching formula that allowed for total invisibility, so there were two slightly translucent yellow circles floating around where his head was. @@randallbesch2424 If this is the show I'm thinking of, it was part of the things done to the protagonist in order to make the project work. The process of activating the gland that turned him invisible would also cause neural connections to parts of the brain that didn't normally work like that, thus allowing him to see in alternate bands of light. Like, it's science fantasy at its finest, but at least it did kinda try to come up with a way around the "invisibility makes you blind" thing.

Deranged people are just built different, i have heard stories of 160lb patients needing 3-4 male orderlies and extra sedatives to restrain them during a psychotic break. Lifting a single 220-250lb dude by the throat wouldn't be that much trouble for a physically fit and healthy guy.

psychosis, basically the brain goes "Why me not need to not destroy body? Full powa!" or feel pain int he normal way, why they can eat 16 rounds and keep going till the hydraulic fluid leaks out, or you hit the magical off switch, PCP did the same thing, turned off the "I may need to still live" option and allows the body to use full strength while not feeling pain, and "you" are locked in a little box watching your body do every thing. Don't go any where near pcp people!

I always thought, given the way he was being held, the open and easily accessible pipes overhead and such, that he'd just like...garotted him and was using that to lift him up, given what he did to the first intern he ganked. After all, it's often easier to cause damage in a strangling situation quickly with something thin, rather than a heavy rope (hanging is more about the short drop and sudden stop than strangulation), so it could've just been something hard to make out in that situation. The sudden slam sideways might just have been him body-checking the guy as he fell, since he was ragdolling to the ground and could easily have just been shoved sideways to further hamper things for his pursuers.
@TheUrbanSpartacuz

I'm surprised Roanoke missed that part, maybe he wasn't paying full attention. But yeah it is explained in the movie that the longer a subject remains under the effects of the invisibility the more deranged and aggressive they become (it's why the gorilla bit Thanos). So yeah, while the Baconator is just a normal dude at the end of the day the increased aggression could definitely affect how much extra strength he is able to pull off in otherwise not normal circumstances.

He was already a Grade S jerk, being invisible gave him freedom from consequences. The period of isolation may have made him somewhat ungrounded, but over all... I feel like he was supposed to be equal parts "This dude is a grade A sociopath and narcissist who now can do what he wants when he wants with no consequences, and feels like everyone is against him, while also apparently suffering insomnia which will further degrade his ability to think logically or coherently about things" and "Well, going invisible in the original novel drove the doctor insane, so clearly we must do this as an Easter egg/callback to the original text!" I believe in both cases it's the increasing feeling of being unable to do anything about the situation by the titular invisible man to change their situation that just drives them bonkers, as in both instances they have put themselves in a situation they can't seem to get out of, and are growing increasingly more desperate, including reaching a point of lashing out at people for perfectly normal things.

Your videos are genuinely top tier Roanoke, as ever. Keep it up please! We need more Roanoke/Kyle Hill type channels... Regarding your comment about the air bubbles, it depends where it is injected and how much of it. You need like 5 times (if I recall medsci 201) the air in your cerebral versus your pulmonary systems for it to be fatal or damaging, not really sure about how much Bacon injected though as couldn't see it on my phone very well.

It's always cool thinking about how powers like this would work. Seems in the book H.G.Wells novel they just refer to it as "changing the body's refractive index to that of air so it neither absorbs nor reflects light" and that's about all they go into details. Also, Roanoke, did you do New Vegas playthroughs at one point? I swear, years ago, I had watched some Let's Play-type videos on New Vegas and my brain seems to attach the name Roanoke to it, lol.
@ak-ub1ym
@ak-ub1ym Ай бұрын
Fun fact : there is a concept called LH molecules in science which help in materials getting negative refractive index where the material is both permissive and translucent at the the same time. And some of these molecules can be made using organic chemistry So there is a possibility that he can still retain his sight and also be invisible at the same time. These molecules are often quoted to be useful in making meta materials used for cloaking.

One theory I saw btw was that either something in the process or the serum itself, or maybe being invisible, fucked up your brain. Hence why the gorilla and some other animals were freaking the fuck out and hence why Sebastian gets increasingly more unhinged as time goes on. He was already kind of a creep but it just sent him spiralling into an absolute psycho because it´s just a side effect

that small amount of air bubbles going into him will not cause an ebullism that will do harm the body will absorb it before they can hit the heart/lungs/brain. It would take the entire IV line full of air to potentially cause one that could do harm.

@@RoanokeGaming Air bubbles in IV lines are a greatly exxagerrated danger in movies and TV shows. I have seen idiots not clear lines in hospitals and the patients don't end up with any of the mentioned bad results. They are possible, but hardly a sure thing . Its something to be avoided, due to the potential complications, but it is not anywhere near certain that they will result.
@daverobson3084
@daverobson3084 Ай бұрын
Yeah. Movies and TV greatly exaggerate the risks of air embolism. Do they happen? Sure. Are they a necessary result of some air bubbles in an IV line? Hell no. If they were most of everyone who has had an IV would have suffered strokes, heart attacks, and pulmonary embolisms . Roanoke reads stuff and thinks he knows how the things work in the real world and then argues from a position of near zero actual experience.

There is a TV show called Surface that aired from 2005-2006. Unfortunately there's only one season of it, but I think there is enough information in that season that you could make a video about the main creature from the show.
