While I absolutely believe that Hillary Swank deserved both of her oscars (her work in Boys Don't Cry is so real and so haunting I can't even watch that film again, and I personally think that Hillary as Brandon Teena is some of the best acting of _all time),_ I also absolutely think Annette Benning deserved an oscar for American Beauty. That was a real, full, well fleshed out, CRAZY and weird character who was portrayed very believably. Even in the extreme moments like the crying scene, the cheating scenes, the flirting with her own husband scenes, the overbearing bitch mother scenes... she was perfectly human and realistic, even sympathetic. That could not have been easy to do as an actress, to keep it out of the uncanny and hammy area with a character like her, and I do think she at least gave an oscar-_worthy_ performance, even if it ended up going to somebody else who also did a fantastic job. I think in any other year, Annette Benning WOULD have won for that role. It really was outstanding. I don't envy academy judges in years like that, when they have to make decisions that difficult. I wouldn't have been able to choose, personally.

yes I agree that she was great in Amelia, but the film was mediocre. she was also great in Conviction , which came out the following year. (bonus, Sam Rockwell plays her brother in that film). I think she's always great, just sometimes the movies don't measure up to her talent. The last thing I saw that she was in was The Homesman; I think that was last year. looked like a decent movie but I doubt anyone saw it. I have to check it out some time. I can't wait for that Starz project; sounds great and lots of talented people attached.

She did amazing as Amelia Earhart! She captured her essence so well and she has the look and body for it. She's an amazing actor because she fully becomes the character and taps into the emotion needed. It's all about finding roles that allow her to showcase that raw emotion.

Hilary Swank's performance in Iron Jawed Angels was Oscar worthy as well. That is one of my favorite movies. As more women step into executive roles in Hollywood, I believe that movie will earn greater recognition.

She kills me with these videos, um, maybe these actors want to take some damn time off.

I love that she cares more about her dad than her career. I think she has her priorities straight. I never understood how some actors are at award shows or movie sets far away when their loved ones are dying and then say their loved one would want it that way. If my son were at a movie premiere or some function while I was dying I would haunt them forever. Ungrateful punk. But anyway, she seems great.

I just saw Freedom Writers today only to realised it was released in 2007. That was a very touching movie coz my eyes were moist at the end. Hilary was a joy to watch. Such a wonderful actress.

"THE CORE" . . TOTALLY DOMINATED EVERYTHING! Can't believe that this wasn't mentioned!

Hilary Swank did NOT "Star in" Beverly Hills 90210, she was part of a storyline for 16 episode's! This channels shitastic job of stretching information is a pile about as high as the narrator is tall!
@tommylee28948 жыл бұрын
***** BINGO! She wasn't even on for one season!
@nicholaszarra77378 жыл бұрын
+Burt Schoeppe Ill bet they confused 90210 with Buffy the Vampire Slayer which had Hillary Swank and Luke Perry in it.

I think you might be right!
@thatguyry80948 жыл бұрын
That might be true. But she wasn't a star of the show BECAUSE she was fired. That isn't false. Swank has even talked about it saying it was a blessing in disguise because thats what freed her to do Boy Don't Cry. So the statement is not inaccurate. She WAS brought on to be a major love interest/new cast member. And when the audience didn't like her and her storyline so she was fired.

I guess they were defining "starring" differently.

I adore her and hope her new show will kick ass. I think its great she took some time off for her Pops, I've got an ailing Dad myself and there are days that just take a toll and the job is the last thing you care about.

I always liked Hilary Swank. If she plays a combat officer in Afghanistan, in a part written for a man, she might win a third Oscar. She always does better in tough, demanding roles. How about that mom who just won Olympic gold in swimming at age 46?

I once called the cops because Hillary Swank had broken into my house but it turned out that it was just my hamster.
@billanthony78968 жыл бұрын
Well, "Million Dollar Baby," was grim stuff. It might have been easier to digest had we learned the evil boxer who caused her ultimate death had been permanently banned from boxing, as she would have been in real life! "Mystic River" was another grim film without any redeeming resolution to it. It's like Eastwood was picking projects to purge his soul of some sort of demons, and trying to make the audience suffer along with him! At least "Grand Torino" had a conclusion that was stomachable by the audience, but Hey, some people raved about the two earlier films, which only proves the entire matter is extremely subjective.

Outstanding and beautiful actress. She basically dumped Hollywood for a bit for more important and meaningful projects.
@califinn4 жыл бұрын
Not enough dislikes. Swank is a great talent, and she can do what she wants with her acting now. Loved her in The Homesman (tragic character), Logan Lucky and I hear she's good in The Hunt. It also looks like she'll be starring in a new tv series called Away -- Space mission sci-fi with some real heart.
