@@davidog4 Ik, im fine with a lot of g series cars, even the m5. I’m just not liking the x3 and the ix, it’s ruining the brand. And I’ve owned 4 BMWs now I want to try something new, like amg or RS. (I used to have a 2019 x2 in alpine white (crashed totaled), not too long after I got a m240i as a little sports car. then I got a 2021 x3 m40 cuz I saw how affordable it was for a 6 cyl. The m40 wasn’t enough space so I gave it to my sister who js turned 16 back in 2022 so I gave her the x3. Then in February of 2023, the 240 started tweaking and having problems with the headlights not working, key fob not opening the vehicle, and I’ve put 50k km on it. I always wanted a gran coupe, so I looked for an m8. But back then I don’t know if it was Covid but it took me 4 months to get an m8 gran coupe, all they had in stock were 2 convertibles and 7 coupes not even in frozen black which was the colour I wanted. Then I saw the m5 comp, matte black, every package other than the ultimate package. Fell in love with it and got it. Don’t have any regrets but now like all BMWs, the sunroof not working, key fob not working and the ac. Plus the new m5 really increased the value of the f90, so I think I’m going to keep my f90 until early 2025 or late 2024 and get a used rs5 or 2025 e63

@@AmosDohms it was fun. Great exhaust note, people loved it as it was right after they came out. It was just not as refined as the E90 M3. Felt larger on the road too. With such wide front tires, the tramlining was a problem on many of the roads around here. I didn’t drive it much as it was a second car for me, so it just sat. For anybody watching this, I'd also look at the Mr12volt unit for these cars, especially if you have the individual audio package. First off congrats and I'll add I've had several M cars over the years starting with a 2013 E92 M3, my first mod was a Akrvpovic exhaust and 2nd was a Brembo big brake upgrade after 2 years of ownership . I do miss the steering and revving the V8 out to redline, it'll give you a smile just getting on the freeway. I actually liked it better than my old F82 M4. I now have a G82 M4C and it is the best performing M car to date, for me. You're right about soul and the E92 had it in spades. You'll love it and you've educated yourself about the throttle actuators and rod bearings already. Doing it for piece of mind for any new E92 owner is my advice and then you can drive the wheels off it. One of the best M cars BMW produced....enjoy. One more thing mod wise...if you want more intake noise look at Eventuri carbon intakes, they make a great product for the E9* BMW.

@Bigtigerr47743 ай бұрын
Word of precaution/advice Miles, if you want to enjoy the s65 for as long as possible, do not just do the preventative maintenance that everybody talks about: Rod bearing as throttle actuators. Yes, they are important maintenance items, and should not be ignored, but there is another maintenance item which is arguably even more important on these engines. > Main bearings < Sreten from m539 explains the reason in very precise detail, as well as the guys from FCPeuro (tldr: since its a double-link timing chain, the tension exerted on the crank and main bearings under load often leads to these engines going through catastrophic failures caused by too tight tolerances between the main bearings and crank.) Some quality main bearings that provide more clearance will make sure the risk of a spun main bearing (or worst case a "bluetooth" crankshaft, iykyk) is reduced significantly and improve the life expectancy of the mighty s65 exponentially.

I did replace the motor mounts, and the fuel sending unit over the last 5 years. Evolve did bearings on a 160k e92 with original bearings on their channel, maybe it's hit or miss but well maintained s65's can last. Mine has been better than I expected. I really like the idea of mapping my DCT, but it's pretty responsive in the right stock mode, and great to shift. It's light on torque but really great to drive above 4k rpm. It's also a comfortable daily if you can forget about the gas milage.

The E9x M3s are extremely well balanced in all categories, from handling, to speed, to even reliability, given it's a low-torque motor you're not really stressing the drivetrain. I love that I can use every ounce on my car's capability while maintaining control and engaging with it's responsiveness. Newer BMWs just feel too artificial to me, and having multiple N54 and N55 cars eventually bored me since you can't truly use all of the car without spinning tires, breaking axles, and prematurely wearing motor mounts. Even with M3 control arms, koni struts, and LSD conversion, my E90 335i still was unpredictable.

This problems with the Connecting rod bearings is something I never had to deal with any other high output engine of any brand I ever had in the last 20 years. I love the fact that the E92 M3 and the Audi RS5 4.2 both used V8 versions of their respective company's V10s. Auto makers used to be crazy, and we loved them for it!

If you think bmw dct is good, try out porsche pdk next time. I went f80 m3 dct to 911 4s pdk. Its night and day difference. Hype is real on porsche pdk. So smooth, so quick and smart too(car actually knows when to down shift). No clunking on 1-2nd gear like bmw.

I've reviewed a handful of PDK cars on the channel 👍🏾

7:33 is when I suddenly decided that one day I’ll get an e92 m3 with modified exhaust.

i thought i am gonna see a 550i with the pre TU engine.... that engine is just pure filth, the TU tho is solid as far as i know

Definitely not the most unreliable, these motors will do big miles when looked after. Great car. The later year hot V turbo v8s are much more unreliable.

Spacers on the back and maybe small ones on the front and lowered would be perfect fitment

Just came to say that the S65 is far from being the most unreliable BMW V8 lol. That title goes to the N62, S62, N63 and S63. I absolutely love the E9X M3, I hope I can get it some day.

Miles, if it was between the transmission in your car or the manual for E92 M3? Personally for the E9X M cars i would choose to manual swap if i could.
@CarswithMiles3 ай бұрын
I think the DCT simply wakes the engine up more than the manual

@@CarswithMiles I see, honestly I would own two if I could so that I could have both. 😅

I think you'd love a GT350, especially a GT350R. High revving (8250rpm) and a wonderful drivers car. Might be worth checking out with a review. Usually pleasantly surprises folks.

I've heard nothing but good things. I'd definitely love to try one at some point.

My doppelgänger bought an e92! I also bought one and it’s been 2 months. It’s a frozen silver(1/40) comp package, DCT, and edc. My friends think we look alike 😂

Congrats on your M3! And tell your friends we don't all look alike 🤝🏾

Question on the air freshener. Even with a well taken car of car the ac gets moldy? In my last few cars I’ve just kept them very clean and rather have no smell other than the oem new car smell. What are your thoughts on this?
@CarswithMiles3 ай бұрын
That isn't something I've really experienced in the past couple of E9X cars I've owned
@Taino5.03 ай бұрын
@@CarswithMilesgotcha. Just always curious why some people do it even on a brand new car. I have a 16 Mustang GT and I’ve just thought about it when the AC has a moldy smell when you first start it. Other than that if it doesn’t have a smell I rather not add a smell.
