Why I Hate Airports & Other Holiday Related Rants [Van Rant 4]

Airports are like a weird black hole of time and logic. You show up 3 hours early for a 2-hour flight, only to wait in line for an hour just to take off your shoes and have your water bottle confiscated. Then, after paying £25 for a sandwich that tastes like cardboard, you finally board the plane-just to sit there for another hour because of 'maintenance issues.' Meanwhile, your luggage is off having its own adventure, probably seeing the world without you. And don't even get me started on the people who treat the boarding process like it's the Hunger Games. Like, calm down, we're all getting on the same plane!

@@Rowan-d2y Exactly! It’s like the plane turns into a giant recycled air machine, and by the end of the flight, I feel like I've breathed in the whole cabin. The dry air makes me feel like a raisin, and of course, they don’t even give us pretzels to soften the blow anymore. Just endless coughs and sneezes from every direction. Lovely, right?

Totally accurate...and as an example I was told to arrive at the airport two hours before my flight which was then delayed for 3 hours...I bought a cup of awful coffee, in a tiny cup and it cost me £10...this was in Polish zloty which exchanged to this amount...what a rip off!!

I really enjoyed that, you're SO hilarious! 😂 I was having my breakfast downstairs and was spluttering drinking my coffee. My husband's workplace must be wondering what the hecks going on (he works from home)....they'll be having him back on-site hearing all this jollity in the background.....you're a very good story-teller. I was telling my brother about your channel yesterday, turns out he's already subscribed and watches regularly, which I didn't know....see you're becoming very popular, you and Helen. You remind me of one of my friends (and she's actually on holiday in Portugal at the moment)....who's very quietly spoken but always has really funny experiences to convey. I can't wait for her to come back I'll guarantee there'll be some hilarious tales. James, you have just explained pretty well, how certain people feel so entitled above anybody else that they regard themselves as untouchable. Having worked in retail management for a number of years, i regard these people as Dense, even Thick. They are beyond help in many cases. Our great country is littered with incompetent folk who do not have a clue how their actions can irritate others to the extent that you just want to punch them in the face. Your observations are so `on point` that it sounds like you and i have met the same people but alas, they are different people which just goes to show how many of them are around. Enjoy the break.

Best rant yet. It could have been me speaking. Queues, rude fellow passengers, duty free rip off shops, over priced bars and cafes, more queues and having to give your boarding pass ( which is always in my wife's bag) just to buy a Mars bar or can of tango. ANNOYING!!!

Just a tip….my husband always puts his change from his pockets and bits and bobs in a carrier bag through the security machine so it’s easier picking them up when gone through. He travels a lot for work.

Really enjoyed airport rant. Hilarious. We went shopping today felt calm when we left home but now in need of darkened room. Double store doors and they only unlock one. People who enter a store and then stop still within the threshold. People who walk in the centre of staircase. People who stop to look at phone just before getting on escalator and then look at u as pervert because you nearly bumped into them. People who park beside you in a totally empty car park. We had our very anxious daughter with us, so requested the fast track to avoid as many people as possible and stress…had to wear necklaces to show we were fast track (on show kind of thing, causing more anxiety) then had a lecture that we shouldn’t have been given fast track like that and all gone through together ..this caused anxiety in hubby with Asperger’s to have a melt down rant, this upset our daughters anxiety, my anxiety was through the roof trying to help my girl and deal with hubbys melt down walking off and abandoning us the entire rest of the process and flight ..he sat up front with my sons partner instead of next to us. The panic my daughter faced was unreal and it took everything within me to keep calm for her as I was very unwell mentally myself, especially with hubby abandoning us. I had my son have a go at me for being angry that my hubby had sat at the front, then once in Athens airport hubby took the air conditioned rented car with my sons partner, ……and my two sons, daughter and I had to go in a sweaty non air conditioned taxi, where my son couldn’t get a signal on his phone, and didn’t know the exact address of this villa in a remote area, one hour from the airport where we went over dusty roads over a barren mountain, and then my son ran up every drive to see if the pool matched the pool on his phone from a picture 🤯🤬😤😭 my daughter and I were hormonally stressed to the max! The taxi driver left his car running, clocking up a 75 euro payment in the end..and it had ended cos I said let’s to go that restaurant we passed and see if they have the internet, to get hold of his partner! Where his partner came and picked us up! ..nightmare …then… We were supposed to have two weeks there in this private villa with a pool..full of dead caterpillars…and my son and his partner were leaving a week early..but they we were the ones in contact with the owner when things went wrong ..as the electric went off twice ..and we didn’t know how to get in touch and didn’t have the same means ..a modern phone ..like they had …so we were so worried that a problem may arise once they’d gone …we had to PAY TO COME HOME A WEEK EARLY 🤯😭 That was last Oct ….and due to all this mental disability stress …my son banned me from their wedding in Australia (on Saturday just gone 💔the 21st Sep) my other son and his partner went and are flying back as I type. I’m heartbroken by everything mental disability ruins. Anyhow ithat’s my serious rant ! ….. On a good note….us four are driving to Wales instead for a couple of weeks soon ..less stressful and just had a tow bar fitted for a bike rack ……can’t believe the price for a tow bar..£500!! 😲 staying at air BnB’s n going to Castles ..my son and daughter dressed as Vikings ..in authentic Viking gear 😃 so that’ll be fun x x x 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x Enjoy your hol James and Helen 😘😍😍

3 mins in - you are absolutely correctomonto on the airport forced snake dance. I refuse to do it if there are lines and lines free in front of me - no way Jose! Not been challenged once yet. You are correct - I do believe theyRE having a rite laugh at us. We all need to collectively say NO! Also ( while I'm at it) you CAN refuse to go through the xray and request a 'pat down' instead. I state for medical grounds. Want to minimize radiation due to thyroid issue... Also, I love me a good 'pat down' 😜 enjoy your holiday yous2 - well deserved! Cheers🥂

😂😂😂That was BRILLIANT!! I'm with you on most of that ESPECIALLY the snake barrier! Except!: I'm relatively new to flying and everything about security came as a shock, although I read the instructions on line! The clear plastic bag for toiletries sent me into a bit of a panic cos I only took the bare essentials anyway!! I may have been that person holding up the queue, simply because I didn't realise you had to take your tray somewhere else to unload! and I had to walk around a bit on the flight (to Thailand) because I had had a new hip 6 months earlier and was advised to by the doc. But then.... yes, we sat behind that person who put their seat back at meal time and I ended up with my tea scalding me (not that it was that warm!😃) The old lady in the seat next to me was LITERALLY kicking me in her sleep! and YES when we landed almost everyone stood up so we had to sit there with bums in our faces!! what's that all about??! You forgot a couple: Airports where you may have to wait hours that have been designed for looks, not comfort - for goodness sake don't get a stop over in Hong Kong - all bare metal and concrete, not a cushioned seat in sight. And that nail file I'd had for years (and forgotten I had in my handbag)which got all the way there ok was suddenly deemed to be a weapon at the other end?!?!

James, what a man, love it. My wife goes mental at me for complaining about half of these idiots that we have to deal with at an airport. Biggest moan is when you drop off or pick up anyone from Glasgow Airport…£5.50, bloody rip off🤯
