I totally agree with you. Without front light is much better and more relaxed. I think the biggest reason why people choose e-ink is because of this natural way of reading. If I have to use frontlight I have feeling that I am using LCD screen and I lose the point of having e-ink.

So colour e-ink displays are pretty much pointless?

@krzysztofgoralski5964 yes unless you only read color manga or cartoons

@@svartlingsad, I was thinking of getting one for my kid and for me. I guess having 2 devices would be a solution then or just wait for colour technology to improve

@krzysztofgoralski5964 if you only read black and white content, then a black and white e-reader will always be best

Hi, do you know any Ebook reader that lets you switch off the frontlight completely? I've been researching and all kindle ones look like they go very dim but don't really shut down the light. It may be the same for other brands, thanks!

You can turn off front light on all e-readers. That's the whole point with e-ink. Even on kindles.

Great video. When they started to introduce the front light on e-readers, I was afraid that they would do the settings like in some devices, where you can reduce the bright but you couldn't turn it off. Fortunately there are many e-reader brands where we can turn off the front light and read like you do it with standard book. We don't want e-readers to become tablets!😞
