No one gonna drive someone else's equipment and give a damn. Hence, I stay one truck. Hire noone. 600k no accidents and maintain my own equipment.

Now days with people not wanting to work it seems for the most part you hire who shows up and hope it works out

Professional/experience have too much pride and never interested learning something new specially from some who has very little experience. It’s not just truck drivers, every field is like this. Pride leads to destruction and humbleness to prosperity

** LONG RANT ** Have a similar problem where I work. They give a 18-19 y.o. kids a $80k mower, in less than 8 hours, it's FUBAR. Canopy/roofs missing chunks/twisted/tweaked; blades sent through the deck, decks up-side-down on other decks - or just dangling by the hydraulic lines... Older guys/gals (mid 40's to 60's) bitch because it's not "new"; yet the beat the ever living life out of it, and expect "show-room" new condition the next morning. 30k/month on 70isch pieces of equipment in repairs alone - services is easily another 10-15k on stuff that still runs at the end of the day... Replacement stuff is just about 3/4 on top of the price 4 or 5 years ago. Lead time is getting into 2-3 years. Specialized stuff if at least 5 out - at who knows what cost. And the emissions stuff it just stupid. An 8 horse power gasoline engine now has 1) High pressure fuel, in turn 2) O2 sensor(1- fortunately...), in turn 3) Direct injection 4) a EVAP system 5) a manufacturer locked ECM - no field mechanic access to cables/software/trouble shooting guide of any kind besides "call your local distributor/dealer" at 150/hr call out for what may be wrong at a 3+ week lead time on parts. Diesel stuff under 24.9 H.P. is easy; every thing else good luck. Kobuta, Yanmar, J. Deere T-4 stuff is made by pure unobtainum. We got 4 injectors, H.P. fuel lines, muffler and ignition switch for a 1974 Deere 4039 stationary engine on a water pump faster (about 2 weeks) than a EGR pressure differential sensor for a 2019 Yanmar (Deere) rotary mower - about 9 weeks (and the rubber tube is on back-order for who knows how long..) Keep your chin up, Paul. We've been there, seen it, scratched our heads on how the heck, and got the tee shirt, underwear, cap and jacket for the stupid stuff. Give your wrench turners a nod of appreciation now and again - they do it for you, not the KNOB behind the wheel. Thanks for reading.. EDIT : spelling/grammar

Sorry to hear about your equipment and the drivers not giving a hoot! I do hot shotting as well and I have a trailer that's almost a year old and she still looks new every time I stop the trailer and truck gets a walk around. I am a believer if you are somewhat intimate with your equipment and know everything in a walk around you will notice if something's not right. Thanks for the video

Got my CDL in '96. Drove semis several years, doing RV transport now. And I can tell you the professionalism has dropped a lot since then. And it's not just the new guys coming out of training. There's a lot of the Old Salts out here doing stupid stuff.

I get it. We get fair company vehicles to work with and the techs just miss treat them like no tomorrow and expect a brand new rig because they drove said rig into the ground. Have screwdrivers left in their pockets tearing the seats up, small 4 foot ladders they lean against the truck and scratch the paint. Jump in one of their rigs and do that and they would lose it. Funny how when they own it they treat it way differently.

When my brother hires drivers he hands them the keys to the truck have them hook up to a car hauler trailer and go for a drive, always watching how they stop, accelerate, watch their mirrors and also how they turn and if they watch the back end of the trailer, if the driver fails to do any of this things he ain’t getting the job period,

Was the back of the left dually fender dented on the truck or was it the camera angle?
@jeffmockus54002 жыл бұрын
I saw the same thing. Then in another shot it didn't look like it. Must have been the camera angle. New equipment just getting torn up! You can hear the frustration in his voice.

I will tell your employees that if its there fault of the damage done to the equipment then you both will go half and half on the repairs. Then they can be more responsible for the equipment. Sounds reasonable. Most employees don't care about the equipment they are using to get the job done because it didn't cost them a penny.

What's the most you can load on that 22gn I have only went as high as 18k but thought that was pushing it, as clearly the weight for the deck is 15,500 + the 8,900 for the tralier. So it's possible that we may have over surpass the gvwr for the tralier capacity. But if not please let me know. Lobe the content thanks.

Why those old farts didn't get their own set-up ? At that retirement age driving a pick up means he did stupid shit his whole life. I have a HS setup I do part time and I refuse to get any driver in it because they are all profession liars I notice. One guy rolled back into my car on a highway, standstill traffic in FL. How can you roll back on a level HWy. Some of these drivers must be on something as they crazy AF out there.

If you have no money in something plain and simple. You just wont give a damn. Give them a percent in the business make it grow with them not just you.

😆. We are way past that. Matter of fact they do get a percentage cut. But if one doesnt care, they just don't care.

Hey Paul, so what do you think the difference is between DRW and single? Does it have to do with visibility being obstructed in the case of hitting the curb.
