The fact that Romero gave a zombie a pivitol role in the Day storyline, along with such character, was a great addition. Always enjoyed that aspect, then continuing that tradition in Land of the Dead was also pretty cool. I think Day of the Dead is the one out of the series I've watched the most through the years.

I first saw Night of the Living Dead (1968) on late night TV in 1976 at age 9. The rest of my family had gone to bed, and I was alone when watching. When the movie ended, the station said: "Don't go away, we have behind the scenes footage with the filmmakers." U turned off the TV, went to my bedroom and jumped into the top bunk (my brother had the lower bunk bed). For the next two weeks, I had nightmares about zombies.

While all 3 are awesome, Dawn is without a doubt the best. It's got tons of action, great practical effects, fantastic character development, emotional bits, humour, large scope and a message that doesn't beat you over the head. It's amazing how much George Romero was able to accomplish on a low budget, it almost feels like a major summer blockbuster, albeit through the eyes of a grindhouse filmmaker.

When the guy was chasing after her, at 51:46 to the end, it made me laugh to death. Because who knows what he must’ve been thinking before he died and now as a zombie? You could write any funny dialogue for what he could be saying to her, as she is seen driving off in the background; seeing him chase after her in the rear window of the car! Seriously, write anything funny or not, and insert it into the scene of his zombie running after her instantly becomes funny!! Trust me do it for yourself, then play this scene and watch how a horror movie scene…becomes a Benny Hill comedy scene!!!

The actor who played Bub is amazing, the emotion he shows without being cheezy, made you empathise with him. He kind of played him like a child, showing sadness, confusion in not understanding death. He made that movie work so well as if it was played like Land of the Dead, that would have been awful. Wish Bub was the lead zombie in that movie, would have been amazing.

I love the 68 night and rewatch it often, and I understand the semi comedic tone was intentional, but I still think the remake is a better film. Not just the updated effects or Barbara's badassery (which is awesome!!!) it's just the panic and tension that steadily rises throughout the movie until the horde busts in and it's all over. Correction. Dawn of the Dead was titled as such because John Russo, Romero's collaborator on Night, had rights to Living Dead so that's why Romero called it Dawn of the Dead NOT because he thought it sounded more ominous. Ugh That's common knowledge.

Dawn Of The Dead 2004 is how you do a remake. Other than zombie outbreak where survivors go to a mall everything else is new. And believe it or not you can like both. For me, I respect the original and nostalgia is deep considering I watched it a million times. BUT it doesn't stand up for a new audience unless they grade it on a steep curve. It’s almost a shot for shot remake of the original. Besides Barbs character being changed I’d argue it shouldn’t even be compared to original because it’s the exact same film. I saw Night Of The Living Dead on tv Halloween in 1976 when I was 6, it was followed by Willard and Ben about killer rats, I still get that Michael Jackson song Ben stuck in my head sometimes. I had the chicken pox so couldn't go candy begging with my mom, sister and brothers. Since that Halloween I stopped candy begging and stayed home or went to the drive-in with my dad, horror movies are better than candy. Halloween 1978 we saw Dawn of the Dead at the El Dorado drive-in in Winnipeg, it was the 4th movie of an all nighter but I slept through most of the third movie Jaws 2 just so I could stay awake for Dawn, it's still my top favourite movie of all time. I saw Day of the Dead on the Granville Mall in Vancouver on opening night, it was also the last day of my 2 weeks of summer school to pass grade 9 as I got two 1 week suspensions that year. I tried to talk my girlfriend into going but she hated horror movies so I went with her brother Phil who had terrible gas and kept farting, the worst kind, silent but deadly ones.

It just doesn't make sense biologically or physically that they're truly dead and rotten but the king himself says it's the way it should be so idk haha.
