I think that’s when tricking was just popping off because I remember parkour/martial arts being my fav physical activity to do back then, and I stumbled upon tricking videos with Anis Cheurfa, Travis Wong, basically the OG legendary trickers. I was so in awe that I wanted to learn and try it out. Lord and behold, tricking became my new favorite sport. New trickers are lucky because there are SO many tricking tutorials out there now, which is great tbh. Lol So it’s great tricking is getting more recognition. Vini the physics in this case is actually surprisingly interesting. The touch down raise is actually quite a complicated set up physics wise first taking forward momentum and transferring it into angular rotation about the short axis and then twisting the body to transfer that into angular momentum about the long axis and subsequently pulling the arms into speed it up. This far more complicated than spinning a top. It’s actually an ingenious set up when you go through the physics since it requires multi-step set up physics wise. It would be impossible using a single step set up.

Yes, you've probably seen it in movies and videogames. Its just not portrayed as tricking, just merely stuntwork nowadays but it seems like that'll change very soon.

What about having weights in your hands that are released once the maximum pre-tuck spin rate is accomplished? This would result in a significantly higher momentum. Although you'd need to be able to get good height and not impede the setup in the first place
