To anybody reading this, Fight for your life and your happiness. I am a person who lives in a constant state of anxiety and panic. I've been prescribed every drug you could name and nothing has worked. Do not take the pills psychiatrists try to jam down your throat after knowing you for just 30 minutes. Find ways to make yourself happy. Get out there in the world and face your fears. Find ways to counter your stress. We only live one time. Learn, love and laugh. Say no to your stress and take control of your body again. You are so capable and you are amazing. There is a reason you are on this planet so make the most of it and realize your potential. You are beautiful and you can do anything you set your mind to.

I have a simple technique: I breathe in normally and smoothly, but I breathe out slowly (more than 5 seconds through the mouth) and that activates the sympathetic system, it actually lowers my blood pressure and I'm sure it DE-stresses me. The secret is to breathe smoothly, both in and out, but make sure it takes much longer to breathe out, it feels great and lowers your BP really fast. Thumbs up if you like this!

The answer is having a relationship with the Lord. He and only He can bring peace, joy (in the midst of trials). When you accept Him as your Lord and Savior and ask for forgiveness of the mistakes you made, He promises to abide in you - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The fruits of that experience is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. That pretty much covers it. We all need the Lord. He is good and merciful and loves you.

Salvation in Jesus Christ is not what we do for him, it's what he does for us. We are not forgiven because we say a prayer or turn from our sins, we are forgiven whenever we believe the good news about the person and work of Jesus Christ. Believing the gospel takes us from spiritual death to spiritual life

Dr. Berg, I am a Firefighter. On 24 hours at the station. I am Type II. I have been on low carb for 4 months. I have dropped my blood sugar to normal readings. I have noticed that when I take my BS in the morning getting off shift from the Fire Dept , my readings are 10-20 points higher than on my days off. A friend suggested that the cortisol is causing my BS to be higher due to the constant "READY STATE" we must be in waiting for EMS and FIRE calls. Just wanted to run this by you. Thank You for everything you do. You have been very helpful to my health!

Seth Eskivias Well i'm no Doctor(although through research i probably know a lot more) the answer is sadly there isn't an easy one mate, everyone is different(i done the pill run, eek) The way i did it was, find out your stressors, that's a starting point, then tackle one at a time! Until it stops being overwhelming, (i'm on the Autistic spectrum too, that's a lie i made a new level on that spectrum lol) so social situations is/was my thing. The second of course is diet,(use supplements too)one of my stressors was hunger. When on a keto diet this is tough during fasting, my solution is to run up extra protein whilst maintaining low carbs(i know it pushes up blood sugar)but,would rather have a little raised blood than nagging anxiety, i like to feel full, as the cortisol speeds metabolism up immensely, and salad is not cutting it. I know these are all these are cliches but exercise.Try Find an exercise/sport you love doing, (you may have to try a few)mine is mountain biking, can do it solo or with friends,do it everyday like clockwork same thing same time everyday. Next one sleep, and this is tough, i developed an evening routine which includes exercise, food,a bath/shower and yoga/stretching.When doing the yoga i started at 10 mins, and built up to an hour, with an element of meditation(i stare at a candle) most important you need complete isolation in this last one distractions mess it up! Another proactive thing you can do get a full medical bloods the works! Never gonna be easy with this condition don't be too hard on yourself,stay away from negativity(we negative enough) so i get it.Take care buddy hope i helped a little👍

Let them wash over you like the gentle waves of the bluest ocean. Let them envelop you. Comfort you. Imagine somewhere calm. Imagine somewhere safe. Imagine yourself in a frozen forest. You're standing in a clearing. Trees around you so tall, they touch the sky. Pure white snowflakes fall all around. You can feel them melt on your skin. You are not cold. It cannot overcome the warmth of your beating heart. Can you hear it? You only have to listen. You hear it slowing? You're slowing it. You are in control. Calm. At peace.

Don't worry, Josh, it's not just you; like a lot of worthwhile things it takes a bit of practice. Maybe start by setting aside just two minutes a day to stop everything and experiment with the idea. Check carefully through your body and brain and note where in particular you can feel the tension/stress. Focus on that place, and sensation, just allowing your mind's awareness to sit with it and experience it in full, without judging or trying to change it.. After a while of doing this, consider whether you actually need and want to hang on to this feeling. If you don't want to, if you can, physically let go of it - begin to release the tensed up muscles there, along with any associated thoughts and feelings. If you really can't do this, just go back to the practice of tuning in to it and accepting that it's there, exploring and refining your awareness of it. Even doing this will bring some stillness to your mind and begin to soothe your overwrought nervous system, and will be beneficial. If you want to go further, check out a range of books and/ or online courses in mindfulness meditation and pick one or two you like to learn from - BUT, importantly, they should be ones you do feel a certain amount of confidence in, that don't make you feel irritated or resistant, which would only set up further tension for you. Hope this helps at least a bit. Good luck!

Benny Jet :). Actually God does not have a sex and is not sexist either. The Bible is very clear that all men and women are created uniquely in Gods image and likeness. The full nature of God is not understood. God has described himself in all sorts of metaphoric ways both female and male but predominately as a loving intimate Father. But it is still metaphor, so I don’t get into hair splitting about it.

I’m one of many who struggles with General Anxiety Disorder. I’m also trying to start a family. I’ve recently learned that stress is almost a natural contraceptive. I wish there were more information on this out there. Thank you for this video. I wonder if you could speak to it more in the context of pregnancy? Keto and pregnancy, brain health and fetal health in the context of your expertise? That would be amazing. Thank you!
@wilma8326

It is good that it is a contraceptive because a future mother needs to be in a more or less relaxed state to have a healthy pregnancy and be able to be a affectional mother to the newborn. People have no idea how there own stress and traumas effect their children, in the first years of their babies lifes and even in the prenatal state. Traumas are being transferred towards your children, your state of mind literally effects the brain development of your.child. For the sake of your future children, deal with your own stuff first!

Thanks! I learned something interesting about shutting off cortisol production. You recommend long walks to relieve stress. I would like to add one more point to this. Never allow your pulse rate to go over 130 while doing your walks. It seems that when your pulse goes over 130 you start producing cortisol which sets you back. I did this yesterday and my morning glucose test dropped 15 points from the day before and my blood pressure was lower. What I did when my pulse rate got over 130 was to just stop walking and allow my pulse rate to drop to below 100 and then I resumed walking.

@@Dance_Party The main thing is that your body doesn't expect you to be sitting there having psychological issues. It expects a state where stress is required, ie. injury, exertion, threat of violence etc. When you don't suffer from these regularly, then your brain perceives your psychological state to be these things. And, as these states are chronic, you get chronic stress. Even if it's counterintuitive, stressing your body a LOT physically, will heal your adrenals. The easiest way is aerobic exercise. But there's many other avenues of exertion as well. Because now your body knows to differentiate between real stress and just minor psychological disturbances.

I learned in a course on anxiety, if something is not a life or death threat in the next 24 hours it’s not worth stressing over. Like fear of driving dangerously or bad feeling about a stranger is legit. Fear of trying new food, meeting new people, giving a speech or even getting lost on a trip isn’t going to endanger your life. A lot of our social/ conditioned anxiety comes from the days we HAD to fit into the tribe/ village/ church or risk being turned out to the wild and perishing. People pleasing = survival. Not the case anymore but we’re still hard wired to believe if people don’t like us, it’s the end of the world.

I don’t think it has to be always on - I think what he’s saying is that the body can automatically turn it on, but it isn’t able to turn it off without our intervention. To be honest that seems quite logical for survival if we’re likely to be chased by predators, but not very helpful for modern day living. Eckhart Tolle did an excellent video on coping with stress and anxiety, in which he made the point that the body does not know the difference between a real threat, and a perceived one. Our brains are naturally wired to detect potential threats, and they’re a little bit like an oversensitive smoke alarm sometimes. You can reduce anxiety when you understand this behaviour, and by breaking down the things you’re worrying about into ‘real’ or ‘imagined’ threats. Talking through things with someone else really helps with this, as it stops us ‘catastrophizing’ and forces us to think more rationally about possible outcomes.

My Dad recently fainted while preaching at Church. He told me it was a reaction to stress. I’m so glad that I found you months ago. I’ve been able to send him your videos & the adrenal kit. It made a huge difference for me & I’m confident it will for him too. Thanks for all of your videos Dr. Berg. My life has greatly improved d/t what I’m learning from your videos.
