Kia hasn't had the greatest history in sporty cars, and some say they're cheap and unreliable. Kia is trying to be different and I appreciate that. Most companies are going to economic based cars to adapt for the future, so sporty cars are being thinned out for new regulations. The fact that Kia had the audacity to devote time to create a good sporty sedan is a step in the right direction for keeping our awesome sports cars alive and kicking.

I understand the flack that Kia gets. In most industries, you're only as good as your previous work, and when your previous work was considered cheap, unreliable and ugly for many years, a bad reputation is to be built. However, it wasn't too long ago, around 2010, when the results of their 2006 decision to hire Peter Schreyer, a design award winning, former Audi/VW employee, really started to pay off. He understood that Kia was currently crawling, and needed to learn to walk, before it could flourish and run. They started by making their cars reliable, involving making them safer, achieving higher safety ratings and using better quality components, with just flat out better designed cars. On top of this, the Korean roots of focusing more on features and technology really shone through, allowing their new, improved, reliable cars to be filled to the brim with technology. SatNav, tablet display, parking sensors, rear parking camera, heated seats, electric windows, and many more features. And, to make things better, a lot of these features were either standard, or even when added, were cheaper than other competing vehicles from manufacturers such as Vauxhall, Ford, Toyota etc. And for many years, they kept making reliable cars, using high quality components, and doing sensible design, using sensible engines, meaning that cars had the power necessary to function well, not having an overly excess amount of power. Focusing on reliability, sensible design, serious technology and offering a 7 year warranty at competitive prices, Kia has worked real hard for what they have today. So, now they've learned to walk, able to make respectable cars for most demographics, they are able to run, allowing them to build the stinger. If you put another brand badge on that car, you wouldn't question its legitimacy, because the car is just that good. I think most people can agree that the car looks absolutely fantastic, a truly modern, sharp look that is actually quite distinct from any other manufacturer. And the engine they used, for the power and performance is unlike Kia, but because of the solid foundation they have built up, they have executed this car really well, despite not having done anything like this before. If Kia keeps innovating like this, making brilliant cars, fantastic interior, brimming with tech on a 7 year warranty, cheaper than their competitors which lack these features, it shouldn't be long before people realise they're wrong to keep avoiding them due to a bad history (Which I think they have more than made up for in recent years)

People used to laugh at honda and toyota back in the day until one day, they were just better than the competition in every way. Kia is heading down a similar path. I wouldn't say they are there yet, and they are facing much stronger competition than the japanese did back in the day against american crap boxes of the 70's and 80's, but they have definitely come a long way and deliver a car that exceeds expectations for the money spent. Time will tell if they are reliable enough to matter, but backing up the car with a 7 year warranty vs 3 years from everyone else, does at least show they have faith in their own product.

Kia is still shit, have a 2016 optima EX w/30k. Intake came sensor breaks from freezing every time the temeprature drops below 8F (running or not), the 2.4L 4cyl idles and ticks like a diesel even on a fresh oil change (been doing this since 3k in). the Panaramic Roof keeps coming back with a vibration rattle from the fucking A/C system, the infotainment system freezes when going into reverse half of the time. The Battery died within 14months of ownership and they wouldn't cover it under warranty (FUCKING REALLY), the TCS system makes it harder to drive in snow than with it off due to the car using the brakes to try and gain traction until the car comes to a complete stop, the gas mileage is MEH at best for it's displacement and class, and the kumho solus tires on it have the traction of a wet vagina. My 2002 Audi Allroad, the KING OF F*CKING UNRELIABILITY still drove better than this piece of shit. I'm making double payments to pay it off and since I no longer have an hour long commute, and trading it in A.S.A.FUCKING.P. for a Tacoma TRD offroad 4x4.

Maybe Live "too heavy and too long for car guys to like it" So if I like it I'm not a "car guy"? You realise that the Miata is not the best car ever made, right?
@maybelive7657 жыл бұрын
Olivier Savard The miata is one of the best cars ever made, because of how cheap, reliable, easy to drive, easy to tune, and iconic it is. You can't argue with that. That's why the miata is used in all types of amateur racing, you just can't argue with that. Just because you like cars like this one, doesn't mean you're not a car fellow. However, if you think this car is good for anything else than luxurious driving, then you're very wrong. On top of that, I cannot name you one true car guy that would buy a luxury car that doesn't have a second purpose (such as drifting, swerving on the highway, simply stancing it for the fuck of it... Etc.) Therefore, this car is not made for car guys. Now, let me make this clear: I actually truly respect those who buy luxury cars out of the norm. I'd much rather see this car on the streets than another fucking BMW 5 series or Audi. Nevertheless, car guys won't buy this car first, which makes them very rare.

ace 1121 in sweden a Giulia QV with say 5000km on it is about €60k, and a brand new Stinger GT with the same level of options is €56.900. At that point i’d either work for a bit longer or find a way to chuck an extra 4 grand in there and get the PROPER performance car that will hold its value and be on par with actual sportscars. For me 5000km is nothing so i’d happily buy one with a few miles on it if i was within a budget.
@marashah.ibrahim7 жыл бұрын
Sir Sparco awesome...... Good for you brother. Both giulia and Stinger aren't available here on India, and by some earth shattering miracle it happens, both will be expensive as sh*t coz of taxes. But I do get your point, I too would just work/save for a couple extra months and get the giulia. Now you see after 5-8 years buying a giulia will be expensive while stinger's price should decrease dramatically, hence it'll be cheaper to buy and maintain in the future. 😁

@jacksteel62167 жыл бұрын
xIVIx is this a joke? have you seen how many high mileage, old german cars are still on the market? if you look after them correctly they do 150-200k, my BMW is over 10 years old, over 100k miles and has had very little wrong with it, except 1 warranty claim for driveshaft bearing that failed. Sounds fine to me, still runs great and still looks respectable. Cant say as much for a 10 year old kia, hyundia, etc... they may be fairly reliable, but they age quickly, and are boring cars full of cheap materials.
