Love your commentary Kim! The Kardashians returning to whiteness will also help them dodge the "baby momma" stigma associated with single motherhood from the black community. White single motherhood is seen as a powerful choice tangential (in a neutral way) to her life pursuits, while black single motherhood is viewed as consequence of both poor choice and dereliction. There are TONS of single white mothers in Hollywood and social media and I have noticed that people never question "where are your kids?" (ALWAYS implying neglect when directed at BW) or "Why does she always take all of her kids everywhere?" when we see them ALL OF THE TIME EVERYWHERE especially at events where one would not expect a ton of kids to be brought to (a la Angelina Jolie - imagine a BW star bringing their 6 kids to every red carpet event and gala). We also never hear complaints about how they are ruined as women for having children or how unfortunate it is that successful men have to take on the burden of their children when they marry them. It's a very smart move for them to make.

You're actually kinda onto something. They're all actually nearing middle age despite how young they look. The body cannot handle procedures at 40+ like it did when you were 20. Your skin also loses elasticity, liposuction permanently removes fat from areas which leads to more sagging of the skin and once skin starts to loosen and sag, the blood supply is compromised. In short, they've probably run out of procedures they can safely do without botching their bodies entirely.

The distraction... that hit hard. I have been getting catcalled, harassed, accosted, you name it, since I was TWELVE. Fifteen year old me was harassed by my MALE math teacher because my uniform pants (all girl Catholic school) couldn't possibly be from the uniform company because they were too tight. In hindsight, I'm like, "why was that man staring at my *ss??" Etc, etc, ad nauseum. Also, thank you for acknowledging that other racial groups suffer from this, as I'm not black, and yet have in many respects, suffered similar setbacks, and had my character misjudged because I'm thicker. I found teenage girls to be especially vicious. JLO hitting it big and becoming mainstream, was groundbreaking for me. Here was this light-skinned woman, with my body type, giving zero f*cks and living her life. It gave me hope as a teenager, that I too would be ok.

It’s funny because I remember how mainstream media used to drag Kim for being short, “fat” and ethnic looking. White people were not checking for her pre-surgery, but Black people took to her immediately. She leaned into it but her past never indicated that she had any real interest. Coming up with the likes of Paris Hilton and the rest of the aggressively white west-coast aristocracy. She has the respect of the white mainstream now, but still has to surgery her way into white aesthetics. But whether she appeals to Black ppl or the mainstream, she can never be “herself” because there is no market for that (unless she actually makes a meaningful effort to connect with Armenians/Persians/middle easterners - which she won’t)

the way they've reverted back to whiteness is sinister, and not only because aligning with blackness does not match the way they're trying to rebrand, but also because it undermines whatever concept of blackness they've adopted because people will look at the time they were black fishing as an 'era', and a bad/controversial one for that. this means that when black culture is appropriated by white people (whatever there is left that black people can still claim because most of what is understood to be black culture in this generation has been whitewashed much like everything else) people will now assume the person appropriating is promiscuous and going through a troubled and confused phase. think of Miley Cyrus' twerking era, Ariana Grande's RNB baddie era, Justin Bieber's egging houses era. observe the ways they hyper-sexualize themselves, observe the 'ghetto' portrayals of themselves (that are only digestible because they are portrayed by white people that must be troubled or must be so misunderstood or so cool), the blatant disregard of the deep culture and history behind the ways they choose to culturally appropriate that they gaslight people out of believing, the list goes on. i know this isn't new, whatever is deemed black has always been demonized, however, the kardashians (and many others) reverting back to whiteness speaks volumes on this generation's failed attempt (for the most part) to completely whitewash the last generation of black art and culture, like hip-hop, RNB, street fashion etc.., although they've heavily profited off of it, they are trying to undermine its legitimacy, so nobody can take it seriously. think about it: when something is aligned to whiteness, it is deemed timeless. most of American culture and civilization comes from black culture, but in order for something to garner the kind of support that would give it longevity, it must be white, or at least aligned with white values or thought of as white. think of the origins of rock and house music as a simple example and how they are thought of today. think of how long this has been going on. they just simply couldn't checkmate. it's easy to say blackness was just a trend to them and they're just hopping on what's cool now and doing what they need to do. but the real reason why all these people are reverting now back to whiteness is because no amount of whitewashing or sabotaging the black culture was enough to finally deem it white, so they now have to undermine it's legitimacy by trying to rebuke it and unclaim it and go back to their roots to fit the way they want to rebrand.

The fact that this has influenced how women view themselves worldwide and the fact that they can just step out of it just like that, is wild to me. You have a rise in BBLs because of this. And now you mean to tell me they're tired of it and wanna appear differently, I wonder what this is going to do to the masses. I think the first thing to acknowledge is how troubling it is that these women specifically targeted bm by getting BBL just to lure them in. What Kim and her sisters did was intentional manipulative. They went through great lengths to alter their bodies to attract bm, which reveals how they really feel about bm. Once they extracted what they wanted and needed from being with these bm, ( money, social status, fame etc) they moved on back to what is familiar to them. They are set now and can maintain within the dominate culture. I'm not mad at them though. It is a day old game and they played it well.

Gotta jump on here and say I agree with your statement “curvy bodies are a distraction everywhere….. even McDonald’s” as I literally lived that experience while working at McDonald’s, I was not allowed to wear skinny jeans and would be reprimanded if I did so,and yet others were wearing them and no one bat an eye at them. I think there is a sort of negative perception around the concepts of curvy bodies and appropriateness especially in the workplace. You’re kinda made to feel bad or in appropriate for your body.

Outrage culture fuels the Kardashian empire. Look at how many white people lost their minds on social media over a dress, and while I do agree she should have had her own copy made, it was so clear to me that she chose to wear Marilyn's original dress to cause upset. She knew what she was doing when she was stealing Black women's aesthetics and she knew what she was doing when she tried to trademark Kimono. Nobody is that socially unaware. I actually find her to be acutely aware of cultural shifts. You can trace it back to the death of the skinny white girl trend in the late 2000s. White people would make a spectacle out of Kim for simply being a little thicker while her contemporaries were flaunting their protruding bones, trying to out-starve one another. It was actually PoC and women that originally stood up for Kim and specifically her body type white media was attacking. She then turned on those women, specifically Black women, and started culturally appropriating. Not only did she make bank from repackaging an aesthetic for white women through the illusion of racial ambiguity, but she also was constantly on everyone's timeline due to how ridiculous and absurd the level of cultural appropriation was. I hadn't seen Kim on my feed in a minute, then the Met Gala happened and to my surprise it was actually white people leading the conversation. I think she's realized that well has run dry and is looking for a new source.

I still can’t believe white women actually fucked up the blood flow to their lips over some lip liner and fillers. The KarJenners have been profiting off of creating black aesthetics for white people and fetishizing blackness through there children. Hence why Khloe wanted more children with TT. She wanted to create a starting 5 it ensure preservation. Same with Kim and Kanye. The kids are accessories to them and so are we. However now that they back white with the exception of Kourtney, every thing about them white white. The dating choice, the entitlement of the dress, the bodies, etc…

I don’t think the Kardashian’s will every fully achieve that legitimacy they so desperately seek. I think she will always be known as that “trashy reality star” , I mean I remember a a few years back when Kim & Kendall presented an award at the Emmys.. they called their show “acting” or made a comment about “how hard they worked” and everyone in the room laughed. Like the entire room full of real actors & stars laughed. I remember how taken aback they were. They will unfortunately always have that clout thanks to black media & their mixed children. But, they will not be considered respectable. And it’s clear as day. Even her choice to date Pete Davidson. White ....yes. But he’s a low level comedic person , I don’t believe that an actual respectable career person would want to be apart of that clout chasing family. Especially with their notoriety & infamous fame. Agree with many of these points but ... 1. I think its actually black WOMEN'S gaze that made Kim famous. WE were the ones who saturated her with coverage in the early days of YBF, FashionBombDaily and Media Takeout when mainstream pub wouldn't touch them. Black women set the trends and she is the biggest one WE ever set bc WE were fascinated and sadly, it ties back to OUR insecurities and what she represented to US. Black men/men in general do not drive social media consumption- especially in the early days. They were content to look at a new woman in Maxim, Smooth, or Black Men magazine every month and keep it pushing. So like it or not, WE built her and then THEY bought her. 2. Even regular-schmegular white women get skinnier and skinnier as they get wealthier & more elite. I will say that traditional skinny white mainstream beauty is not something they felt they had before so I think they're simply trying on this costume like they do others and commanding new rooms they weren't invited to before. It will NOT be permanent.... especially not as their daughters get older. Like it or not, they will re-affiliate. I think Kendall's modeling career, mainstream acceptance and beauty play a role in this as well. I think Khloe, in particular, is obsessed with Kendall's looks/body and they recognize its different than what they have. .. so they're trying to master that too. These are personal challenges of discipline and a desire to defy their own stereotypes. Trust- Pete won't last, the blonde hair won't last, the super skinny body won't last with Kim. She's just trying to prove to the world that she doesn't need appropriation and gimmick to be beautiful/accepted anymore. This is her subliminal clapback (remember her recent Nina Simone/Nefertiti spread) They're still trolling and they are using this temporary costume to prove to the world they are EARNING their fame via restriction and making it in the white world. They knew it would be a liability to immediately get yet another black man... so they're trying to prove they can do both. Don't continue to fall for any of it.

@@princessm8977 I'm not sure if I'm using the right terms or if there is even a term for this. We (I) saw this shift of people wanting to align themselves with Black culture and features. For example, more recently Instagram came out with filters that almost always have a tan/brown hue which makes users look more brown or tan. Another example would be lighter skin people buying shades that are two to three times darker than their skin tone. Because of this new acceptance of blackness in mainstream culture it now looks like darker skin tones and hues are in. Maybe I'm tripping and people actually do love the color brown in their clothing, but it seems intentional (or maybe its unintentional) for your clothes to match the current trends. Like Kim talked about in this video, Kim K is obsessed with aesthetics so going full force with trends-- down to your clothing makes sense. I hope that I worded this in a way that you can understand. I’ve gotten the odd pretty face compliments here and there but no one compliments my body. Always criticism ever since I was a child. Giving me unwelcome “advice”. Making very hurtful comments and thinking it’s okay because I’m skinny thus must lack feelings. I’m skinny and don’t like it “just eat” 🙃Then being surprised to the amount that I eat. Etc etc … I’m not getting any younger and at this point , it’s no longer about aesthetics but actually considering the health implications of trying to get an acceptable look as a black person within the black community . But only achieving a big stomach and arms. I don’t have hips , no matter what I eat and drink (high calorie special drinks) or how many squats, they don’t seems to want to come. Even my breasts don’t get bigger despite my stomach being on an exponentially growth. I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve accepted that skinny is what I am , and skinny with a huge stomach , chubby face and arms … is not what I want to be. It’s sad that people will see me and assume im trying to be white or have some disorder. However , if I continue to try and achieve the unachievable , I’ll definitely be left with long terms health issues any moment from now. My health is more important than appearing desirable to a any man. Because when you’re sick , most time these men will up and cheat or leave then make you feel bad for not being good enough, no matter how great you once were to them. Because their will always be someone better. Especially as you age.

Thank you for bringing this up and articulating it so well! I had the exact same thoughts over the past couple months of 'oh well, Khloe's going through a very tumultuous time in her life right now', but skinny Kim is freaking me out - especially all the newer beach photos she's been putting out. I feel weird making comments or even paying attention to someone else's body like that, but I've found it so weird how completely different she looks after 'dieting really hard and losing 15 lbs'. Like Kimberly mentioned here, their butts and entire bodies look so different.

Love to hear your thoughts as always Kimberly. But also!! Can we all just collectively acknowledge how sick and disturbing it is that this sort of mutilation to the body has become normalized. Those before and after pics shocked me. Like they’re celebs so they can cover their scars and get treatments and what not to hide the evidence of surgery, but that ish is no small feat. It’s really sick how people really felt like it was okay to transfer fat, get implants, or injections just bc these women were doing it. So much death and pain. So sad. Hopefully women will stop mutilating themselves for social approval from men. :( I don’t believe there’s any other reason to physically adjust hypsexualized body parts. The cognitive dissonance is real.

Why? That's kinda random..." (never mind the whole BS around the decision to even allow that dress to be worn - not just because it didn't fit and WAS permanently damaged, but because it turns out Marilyn actually REQUESTED that no one else wear that dress !! honestly super innovative how we figured out how to disrespect Marilyn's wishes both in life AND death! /s ugh i hate it here!!) ... anyway, great vid! ty! 💕

as an overweight child Kim was one of the women I aspired to look like along with Beyoncé but all my fat accumulated up top which I was usually called bad built because of and so as I got older and even now I started to lose weight but still I had to struggle for confidence because my hips ass and thighs would always go first and most black people don’t like that chile. You can’t walk around with skinny legs and fat up top even though I lost a lot of weight I still have a gut and no ass and this has caused me to go to extremes to try to get the desired shape, one like Kim and Beyoncé had when I was growing up. I suffer from severe stomach pains now from years of waist training and unhealthy crash diets that never worked. It sucks that skinny black girls that look like Khloe now and even the girlies with body types like mine we aren’t celebrated in the same light when losing weight and curves as Kim and Khloe seem to be.

Black women will chase this ideal the same way that any other group will. Super skinny was a trend so many desired to be in the 90s and early 2000s. Media and dominant culture shifts are powerful. It was also in 2000's that Angelina Jolie made famous of her thick pouted lips and again many have realized it was good for a non black women. All of these feature are present to many black women only it was not praise bcoz not all big butt and thick lips are good for black women. Some are too excess amd out of shape.
