I am convinced that strong hybrids like in the lexus is the way to go. Can you imagine its fuel consumption to be 5,5 litre per 100km with its heavy weight, extremely nice acceleration and rear wheel drive. That is riding on diesel territory with a heavy car, good performing ice with hybrid and rear wheel driven. Thank you Toyota. The electrical or battery cars are not ready yet, too many issues from fires, charging infrastructure, reliability, doubtful winter range, bad heating in cold climate etc.

Was the 1500 diesel created by increasing the displacement of the 1.3 Multijet? If yes, it might look good on the (designing) board but not too great on the road, because doing that would be at the cost of sacrificing the tolerance levels that Fiat had built into the 1.3 Multijet. A total compromise at the cost of the user . They could have adapted the K9K from Renault.

The new hybrid will be a diesel alternative, and I don't think itl be powerful but will be have great fuel efficiency. I frankly cant believe that re Engineering a Head ( For such a minor error) could be so expensive that they would be willing to lose the small diesel segment, My take ( Conspiracy Theory ) is that They got the hybrid Tec not only for a car or two but also to make sure Suzuki don't enter the diesel game as Toyota is now the head of the pack in this regard, Also Toyota have a small diesel which they can easily convert to BS6.2 if they need and could also offer to Suzuki. Hence it makes no sense for suzuki to go ahead with the diesel. This makes much more sense to me, Sure no proof. Any decent engineer could make an after market header by shaving of and blocking off the cooling vents and re direct them to the block or oil cooler. I'd say this is quite a conspiracy theory. Do give it some serious thought.

Can we all appreciate the mike place stand placed inside a valve head(of the 1.3l MJD I guess).
@mandarganu37216 ай бұрын
They could have just blocked the specific water jackets going around the exhaust manifolds and keep the rest of them open. Or they could have reduced the size of the water jackets so that less water / coolant travels through the jackets and less heat gets exchanged through the manifolds. That would have made the exhaust gases retain the heat and it would have solved the problem. Not as expensive as redesigning the whole cylinder head, I imagine.

I don't see a major flaw for a manufacturer having masses like Suzuki. The Exhaust gases temprature should rise upto 300 deg C for effective regeneration in DPF . And electrical heating OR hot coolant can be pumped in downstream of exhaust system by adding a passage jacket . Though Dosing could be a expensive solution. MSIL should definitely rethink in it.

I think Maruti's strategy post 2020 is a bit confusing. Their brilliant petrol engines became lethargic especially the K15c due to efficiency reasons due to lack of diesels. Now the Z12e in the Swift which I personally feel is not a good change from the K12N. Also the pricing by Maruti these days is on the higher side a recent example being Jimny and new Swift 2 of the Suzuki global icons.

How much does it take to take a(n AutoCAD) grinder to the cylinder head and do the necessary chop job of making a separate manifold? Redesigning the cylinder head is expensive, but can't India's largest car manufacturer afford to do that? Especially given that putting new heads on old blocks had been an old trick which even Suzuki is a pro at. The diesel engine could have saved the jimny from being such a disaster. All it needs is a 1.2 petrol or 1.5 diesel.
