12 years ago, I truly loved a woman, but I didn't want to get married and have kids. I just wanted to enjoy life together. She cried and spoke for months about how she wanted marriage and family together. So I married her, was faithful to her, never touched her in anger, gave her children. 10 years later, she filed for divorce. Never again. Modern women and family law just cannot be trusted.

Agreed, and similar. My old/old-school dad could not understand and gave me hell for my divorce, as if I was the guilty party. He asked if I hit her or cheated on her, and I responded absolutely not. I paid her out of debt, new car, new house, kids, devoted ..... but not good enough. Just incredible, and not in the good way....... actually terrible, and if I could go back in time, I would never have spoke w/her.

Married for 33, just divorced. Retired at 60, traveling SE Asia. Sure the realtionships are transactional, but at least it is transparent as well. They were always transactional here too, but you have to give up at least 1/2 each time in the West. I find it hard to even be upset with Chad and Tyrone. The more I think about it they are just sticking it to the system, eh, women. I dont think using the man would convey the proper meaning here.

Recently divorced after 14 years. This is her third failed marriage. We have no children together, but I raised her son from her first marriage. She has devastated me financially, mentally and emotionally. If there are ANY young men out there who are on the fence about marriage...WAIT. Think. If she gives you an ultamatum, DO NOT GET MARRIED. Live your life. She's not what she seems. Please, I implore you...stand up for yourself. Trust this advice from a 50 year old man who is suffering from a marriage that has tormented me and cost me thousands (6 figures) in a divorce settlement.

My ex announced she wanted to travel and be a musician when our 3rd kid was just 3 weeks old. And she did. She had so much leverage over me I just had to suck it up or lose my kids. She just did not want to be a mother. So I was left looking after 3 kids and the sole bread winner. Now 3 years after divorce she is broke and trying to get some kind of child allowance off me even though the kids are mainly with me and I still pay 100% of all the kids expenses. She caused so much damage to my children, but they are better off now living in a toxic free environment without a mother always unhappy and resentful. In my own experience I pay nothing at all, other than offering coffee & occasional cake, before & after the most amazing intimacy with a stunning woman who only wants exactly what I want. We don't get involved in eachothers life, we don't want commitment or responsibilities. We only see eachother for the same reasons of adult fun. Outside this we both work hard, have grown up kids & our own interests. I would never pay for sex & so 'no' there's no reason to do so, if you meet the right woman who thinks the same.

Speaking as an 87 widower, who was with one woman for 61 years,, I concur 100% with your observations. Understandably, all the ladies I dated over the past 3.5 years have been widowed twice, because men just don't last as long, but to find out about the Troup of men they have entertained in between and after spouses is just too much to accept. I relish and appreciate my desire to just touch warm female flesh but they can reserve their lips and kisses for the next bunch of guys they attract. Sloppy second, thirds and so on is just too much for me to find desirable. That kind of transactional relationship is just more than i can handle.

Culture has changed drastically over the last 40 years. Marriage was often not based on deep love. You had access to whom was available where you were. You made due and tried to make it work. You stayed together because survival required it. This is not today's world. The pressure to break the marriage up is more than the pressure to remain married. A man enters this contract where the other party benefits from breaking the contract. It is a bad deal for a man in today's culture.

No doubt there are some occasions when a woman is cheated on but I think we all know that hypergamy means it's far more often the female who cheats, denies affection or initiates divorce. So, yes some women are cheated on but who is he cheating with, mostly other women! Deny your man affection and he will eventually look for it elsewhere, often with a woman who sees him as the prize that you no longer value. Men are like carpets, lay them right and you can walk on them forever. A full belly and empty balls is all we need, we'll work like a donkey and even let you make 90% of the spending decisions! If a man has reached his 60s and finds himself single, the days of dating are over. Women shift to being less and less important as we age and if she is single around this same age there is a reason and it is not good 99% of the time. That leaves him with going solo, or either getting sex and a little companionship or finding a woman who will see him on a regular basis while each maintains their own home.

@GBU61 I got divorced 18 years ago, decided to do something for me, and walked back from Australia to the UK. I call it my long walk. Now 60. Still date, although as you say, women are not so important. Straight up tell them, no marriage , not interested, no co habitation. You have your house, I have mine. Maybe meet once a week, they also told, in daylight hours I got work to do for me. If I want to go somewhere, i decide if I'll take someone, nothing worse than going to see something, and a woman tries to convince you she also interested, yet after 5 minutes she bored. I've had some try to bend the rules, they all told where the door is, some have said , you will grow old and lonely, when what they really mean is they don't want to be old and lonely. Now have a part time job, no stress, life is peacefull, and if someone want to upset that balance. It's goodbye. As John points out, there is plenty of free, or somewhat free milk, as now to me, my most precious thing I have is time. And I'm not going to waste my time trying to satisfy her demands. My life, my rules, don't like it, go find someone else. I adopted that rule after the divorce, first thing was to get out of the financial burden placed on me, hard long journey that was. And I will never be in that position again. Then make new friends who were interested in the same things, different social circles, some over lap. The greatest thing is peace, the freedom. The freedom to decide what I want to do with my time. The crazy thing is, in my 20s I jumped through hoops to get the milk, the last 15 years, being upfront 100 percent honest, I expected women to run a mile in the opposite direction. They don't. I don't play games, and I won't allow them to play their games. So for any young men, think carefully, it's the biggest decision in your life, that can have the consequences that could ruin you. Enjoy life, don't be a Chad , just be a man who respects himself, and most of all understands the greatest asset you have in non replaceable. Your time.

@@rememberdavid9329 I have this arrangement with a woman of my own age and it works fine. We both appreciate the time apart as much as time together and because we have this break, we value what time we spend together. Our sex life is frequent & amazing as a consequence. We attend to the humdrum household chores and upkeep of our homes and daily lives separately, we have separate financials etc as we have both found in our previous relationships that the discussions and arguments surrounding joint financials and sharing of chores are real passion killers. I recommend this way of rationing time together as it means we can focus on having quality time with each other which boosts our romantic life. Don't cohabit, simply maintain separate lives, interests & domestic arrangements and you will find that you & your partner are more spontaneous, playful, energetic and attentive without the imposition of the pre-conditions and obligations that dominate lives spent living together.

If you get divorced because she is no longer meeting her intimacy end of the bargain, it doesn't matter - you're still obligated to fulfill your commitment, forcibly extracted from you by the courts in the form of loss of 50% of your wealth, paying a child support pension, paying an alimony pension). @@traceywright7790 About 85% of women 18-35 who want to sleep around can. At will. About 5% of men 18-35 who want to sleep around can. I agree with your point- I have chosen not to sleep around, unless I was married to the woman. However, let us understand that men and women are asymmetrical to each other, in many ways. I saw the bad boys, in college, having women visit their rooms at least 3-4 nights per week. I was 17 when I went off to college, yeah, at that time I was jealous. My second year of college, one roommate in a suite was French, about 30. Women threw themselves at him, we, his roommates, knew, because we saw it happening. At the time, yes, I was jealous. Now that I understand how energy works, I know that this would not have been useful to me. Merchandise sells well- when satisfied customers share their pleasure with the value they got. Merchandise does not sell well, when dissatisfied customers share their extreme displeasure with the product. Which is not to say that human beings are merchandise, but in the market of marriage, to some extent they are. My former supervisor's wife died, when he was about 55. Sharp guy, great shape, a joy to be around. He went on the dating sites, to find women about say 35-50. He was utterly stunned- in a week, he had 500 hits from interested women- whom he described as high grade. And he got more hits... only top 5% men get this kind of attention from women, though.

When women are acting jealous, there is usually a valid reason. For example, A lot of women, myself included, make it clear at the beginning of the relationship what our expectations are and one of those expectations is not checking out other women, looking at porn, or anything similar to that. When your man agrees he will follow those expectations and THEN you find him checking out other women or looking at porn, he has violated his comittment to you and one of the most natural and justified responses is jealousy. Or when your man agrees to not have female "friends" unless his contact with them includes you as well and then he starts having long one on one conversations with this "friend", jealousy is a natural and reasonable feeling to have. Jealousy is often felt by men too if the reverse situations had happened to them. In short, in general, women are not usually jealous unless they have good reason to be.

Stop playing the "What if" game and just close the door on the fact that it is over. Appreciate the other people in your life and the other experiences that you can have that give you some enjoyment. Release your attachment to whatever belief you have about this relationship. It was not the end, it was just one stop on your journey. Finally, you have to forgive yourself and her for the whole thing. This is just an experience. One day, it will reveal whatever lessons it holds. But you will never learn them when you are still clinging to the attachments. HANG IN THERE! Good luck!

I haven't had a woman in my life for almost 30 yrs. I realized that although sex is marketed as a need, as in the much touted hierarchy of needs, it really isn't a need. For me it is a luxury item. I just don't "need" it. It could be wonderful for sure if I could get it without the expenses that come with it - financial and emotional. But since I am not a wealthy man in either department, sex is just too expensive of a luxury. I think that if I were safely financially independent with a good solid chunk of wealth I could tolerate a woman around as her needs wouldn't threaten my financial stability. It would be sort of like having a very expensive pet that I could comfortably afford. Or maybe a parasitic relationship where the host (me) was unharmed. But I'm not that wealthy yet. I find that dogs are much more affordable and emotionally stable...and they actually love me even when I do whatever the hell I want to whenever the hell I want to do it.

And nothing anyone can do can effect them meaningfully. They are enjoying wallowing in their pig slop. They dont get a reality check for decades, its such a slow decaying process I dont know how many generations have to fall for it before women catch on. Maybe they dont, because by the time the last generation is paying the price.. theyre seen as old hat, not cool, no one to listen to. Theyre too busy with their girl squad rooting them on to participate in a glory hole. Ive seen so much of this first hand. Its sad. I feel bad for em. Mid divorce after 32 years. She decided to end the marriage after we started to struggle a bit financially, stopped creating, and within 2 weeks found a wealthy bachelor. I married back in the day because I was fed the idea that I had to have a girlfriend or a wife. For many years it was great and we enjoyed being together and I fell in love with the illusion I had created of her in my mind. When kids came along practically everything changed and it became a struggle. I guess she hung in there long enough to let the kids get old enough to leave. She is so unbelievably selfish and I am left looking after the kids financially, which I don't mind as they are my kids, but she is a cop out.

I think one thing you’re missing mate is that men do go for the traditional woman who is not going to work and fulfill traditional feminine gender roles, he is taking on insane risk in the divorce court in terms of spousal support and division of assets. Furthermore, the “home making” role does not require as much work as it used. Keeping the house clean and preparing food takes a few hours a day at most. The value exchange between men and women in todays western society is just too one sided with men providing most the value.

We've even discussed were we both feel relationships & living toogether go wrong. Her saying how she is against such, is music to my ears. @@john-griffin I knew a guy who did his college thesis paper on the subject of fathers getting custody of their children in California. According to the data he was able to gather, which I believe was extensive, about 1% of men who actively sought custody of their children were granted it in that state. Given the man was in his 60s when I met him, this would have been almost 40 years ago. I doubt the numbers have gotten better since. Some states are a little more lenient, but you should still consider yourself lucky. It oft doesnt matter how hard you fight. It sure didnt for my father. I respect you a lot for putting in the work necessary to win though. Again, these were only the men who went to court for their kids, it was about how many who actually put up a legal battle WON that battle. Not how many fathers on the whole got custody, since many dont even try.

So his values would not align with me, and I would not pick him, money or no money. I picked a guy who was just starting as a nurse and had nothing but an old car to his name and school debt because his character and values matched mine and he had an extremely low body count too. Thank you for your balanced thoughts and insight. I agree with much of what you said. As a woman, I have always struggled to find a decent, mature-minded guy because they all seem to be hyper-sexualised in a regressive way. They just see me as a sex object, even though I'm thin and dress conservatively. It's been obvious to me for a long time that there are at least three generations of men who are governed by pornography and, unfortunately, this bleeds into everyday, mundane life in a detrimental way. I've tried to have meaningful conversations with guys and, more often than not, they 'freeze up' and can't seem to view me as a fellow human being. From a very young age, I actually looked forward to being married and having a couple of children (and happily staying at home in that role), but there aren't any men left who want to commit and get married. As you said, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" It's sad, it's eroding the foundations of our society and it's killing the intrinsic beauty, joy and healthiness of male and female companionship as well (I enjoyed several close friendships with boys when I was a child). 💔

We’re both Gen X. Our Grandmas (WW2 era) knew this intrinsically.. They collectively told young men, you want sex, put a ring on it. The boys coming home from the war did just that, had a lot of sex, and the result was the Baby Boomers. Our Gramdmas didn’t have the Pill, legal abortions and lived in an era before sexual liberation. They paired off appropriately 1 to 1. I’m not saying it was perfect, but there were couples that stayed together until death. In about 4 generations we’ve lost the ability to have families.

This is a very interesting topic and you bring out some very valid points. 59 years old and divorced 8 years. I’ve dated 3 women post divorce and had sex over 1000 times with these 3. I didn’t set out to date or count the number of times, it just somehow happened. Women are desperately searching for men and found me. All 4 were hyper sexual. Very new concept for me, but why not, right?? I enjoyed the relationships but they took the lead in having sex. I was totally honest that I was not looking for marriage. Even though they pushed the sex, they all eventually got upset, pissed off and claimed that I used them. Very disappointing to me cause this simply wasn’t true. 99% of women still want a husband and they still believe they can convince a man to marry them by throwing themselves at us. They just refuse to understand that they have devalued their own worth by being so open to sex. Unfortunately, too much sex is dangerous for men. It makes us crave women, but mainly just for sex. After the “craziness” starts showing up, the sex isn’t enough to keep us so we move on to the next one. Rinse and repeat. I don’t need the drama in my life but I still crave the sex. The cycle of starting over is draining, so we as men need to break free of our intense sexual desires and enjoy alternatives ways of filling our time.

Just a random male observer here; I think that most single men have all the male friends they need (which is probably a very low number). If they have a female friend, it is likely sexual relations they are looking for. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a hard and fast rule. When I was divorced, I had a female friend who was also on the dating scene (purely platonic, from my side at least; I can’t speak for her) and we would swap dating horror stories and hang out. Now that I am remarried, we have remained friends. But I think this is a bit rare. Men think about sex all the time….. like so many times a day. It is a huge and constant biological need. So for a guy to have a purely platonic female friend….. well, what’s the point? They have male friends who are easier and less maintenance to hang with and talk sports, cars, etc., and complain about women LOL. Just my two cents.

That's just how men are, it is what it is. If you do want to cultivate genuinely platonic relationships with men, you need to be consistently crystal clear about it and never, ever waver in that clarity. Don't be surprised if 90+% of the male friends in your life disappear. The ones who are left though, they're likely to be lifelong friends since they have the emotional maturity to see you as a human being, not just a woman.

@@samdarp Oh, in that case then it would be great for lots of men that aren’t going to marry again. I’m sure men like that would like the companionship and sexual relations and friendship without commitment or marriage. And they get to go home to their own place and do their own thing….. 👍

That’s a great idea, I will do that. Sorry it took me so long to get to your comment.

I am an archaeologist, and I can tell you it was more logic and order in the cave-days than today, because - among other things - there were very few people on Earth. Perhaps just few milions

As a mom of five kids I can say that I was proud to stay home and raise my babies!! It was my greatest joy, even with the struggles of a single income it was still worth it and I wouldn't trade for the world. I know a lot of working moms who were miserable and would love the opportunity to stay home with their children. I loved my husband even more for giving that privilege.

I haven’t been in a relationship for 10 years and still get plenty of action, and oh yeahhhh I’m an AVERAGE man.

Me too. I have no idea why other guys aren't getting any. If you want it, it is there to be had. You may have to work a little, but it is there.
