12 years ago, I truly loved a woman, but I didn't want to get married and have kids. I just wanted to enjoy life together. She cried and spoke for months about how she wanted marriage and family together. So I married her, was faithful to her, never touched her in anger, gave her children. 10 years later, she filed for divorce. Never again. Modern women and family law just cannot be trusted.

Culture has changed drastically over the last 40 years. Marriage was often not based on deep love. You had access to whom was available where you were. You made due and tried to make it work. If a man has reached his 60s and finds himself single, the days of dating are over. Women shift to being less and less important as we age and if she is single around this same age there is a reason and it is not good 99% of the time. That leaves him with going solo, or either getting sex and a little companionship or finding a woman who will see him on a regular basis while each maintains their own home.

@coopsiesmeanderings25072 ай бұрын
@GBU61 I got divorced 18 years ago, decided to do something for me, and walked back from Australia to the UK. I call it my long walk. Now 60. Still date, although as you say, women are not so important. Straight up tell them, no marriage , not interested, no co habitation. You have your house, I have mine. Maybe meet once a week, they also told, in daylight hours I got work to do for me. If I want to go somewhere, i decide if I'll take someone, nothing worse than going to see something, and a woman tries to convince you she also interested, yet after 5 minutes she bored. I've had some try to bend the rules, they all told where the door is, some have said , you will grow old and lonely, when what they really mean is they don't want to be old and lonely. Now have a part time job, no stress, life is peacefull, and if someone want to upset that balance. It's goodbye. As John points out, there is plenty of free, or somewhat free milk, as now to me, my most precious thing I have is time. And I'm not going to waste my time trying to satisfy her demands. My life, my rules, don't like it, go find someone else. I adopted that rule after the divorce, first thing was to get out of the financial burden placed on me, hard long journey that was. And I will never be in that position again. Then make new friends who were interested in the same things, different social circles, some over lap. The greatest thing is peace, the freedom. The freedom to decide what I want to do with my time. The crazy thing is, in my 20s I jumped through hoops to get the milk, the last 15 years, being upfront 100 percent honest, I expected women to run a mile in the opposite direction. They don't. I don't play games, and I won't allow them to play their games. So for any young men, think carefully, it's the biggest decision in your life, that can have the consequences that could ruin you. Enjoy life, don't be a Chad , just be a man who respects himself, and most of all understands the greatest asset you have in non replaceable. Your time.

Without question mother’s milk is the best nutrition for a child. Women have monthly struggles that make work outside the home very difficult. The underlying risk always remains: no matter how valuable she seems at the beginning (intimate, agreeable, homemaking, loyal, etc.), she can change her mind at any time, and you, as the man, have no recourse. If you get divorced because she is no longer meeting her intimacy end of the bargain, it doesn't matter - you're still obligated to fulfill your commitment, forcibly extracted from you by the courts in the form of loss of 50% of your wealth, paying a child support pension, paying an alimony pension). It's just a really bad deal.

@@traceywright7790 About 85% of women 18-35 who want to sleep around can. At will. About 5% of men 18-35 who want to sleep around can. I agree with your point- I have chosen not to sleep around, unless I was married to the woman. However, let us understand that men and women are asymmetrical to each other, in many ways. I saw the bad boys, in college, having women visit their rooms at least 3-4 nights per week. I was 17 when I went off to college, yeah, at that time I was jealous. My second year of college, one roommate in a suite was French, about 30. Women threw themselves at him, we, his roommates, knew, because we saw it happening. At the time, yes, I was jealous. Now that I understand how energy works, I know that this would not have been useful to me. Merchandise sells well- when satisfied customers share their pleasure with the value they got. Merchandise does not sell well, when dissatisfied customers share their extreme displeasure with the product. Which is not to say that human beings are merchandise, but in the market of marriage, to some extent they are. My former supervisor's wife died, when he was about 55. Sharp guy, great shape, a joy to be around. He went on the dating sites, to find women about say 35-50. He was utterly stunned- in a week, he had 500 hits from interested women- whom he described as high grade. And he got more hits... only top 5% men get this kind of attention from women, though.

When women are acting jealous, there is usually a valid reason. For example, A lot of women, myself included, make it clear at the beginning of the relationship what our expectations are and one of those expectations is not checking out other women, looking at porn, or anything similar to that. When your man agrees he will follow those expectations and THEN you find him checking out other women or looking at porn, he has violated his comittment to you and one of the most natural and justified responses is jealousy. Or when your man agrees to not have female "friends" unless his contact with them includes you as well and then he starts having long one on one conversations with this "friend", jealousy is a natural and reasonable feeling to have. Jealousy is often felt by men too if the reverse situations had happened to them. In short, in general, women are not usually jealous unless they have good reason to be.

Release your attachment to whatever belief you have about this relationship. It was not the end, it was just one stop on your journey. Finally, you have to forgive yourself and her for the whole thing. This is just an experience. One day, it will reveal whatever lessons it holds. But you will never learn them when you are still clinging to the attachments. HANG IN THERE! Good luck!

I haven't had a woman in my life for almost 30 yrs. I realized that although sex is marketed as a need, as in the much touted hierarchy of needs, it really isn't a need. For me it is a luxury item. I just don't "need" it. It could be wonderful for sure if I could get it without the expenses that come with it - financial and emotional. But since I am not a wealthy man in either department, sex is just too expensive of a luxury. I think that if I were safely financially independent with a good solid chunk of wealth I could tolerate a woman around as her needs wouldn't threaten my financial stability. It would be sort of like having a very expensive pet that I could comfortably afford. Or maybe a parasitic relationship where the host (me) was unharmed. But I'm not that wealthy yet. I find that dogs are much more affordable and emotionally stable...and they actually love me even when I do whatever the hell I want to whenever the hell I want to do it.

Ha!. Problem is girls with extremely low body count like I was, will not want a guy like that because the reason why we have a low body count to begin with is because we see sex as sacred and people are not objects of pleasure to take and toss. So his values would not align with me, and I would not pick him, money or no money. I picked a guy who was just starting as a nurse and had nothing but an old car to his name and school debt because his character and values matched mine and he had an extremely low body count too. Men who participate in hook up culture are an immediate turn-off for a woman like me who didn't sleep around. So good luck with demanding a low body count when you are clearly not.

Thank you for your balanced thoughts and insight. I agree with much of what you said. As a woman, I have always struggled to find a decent, mature-minded guy because they all seem to be hyper-sexualised in a regressive way. They just see me as a sex object, even though I'm thin and dress conservatively. It's been obvious to me for a long time that there are at least three generations of men who are governed by pornography and, unfortunately, this bleeds into everyday, mundane life in a detrimental way. I've tried to have meaningful conversations with guys and, more often than not, they 'freeze up' and can't seem to view me as a fellow human being. From a very young age, I actually looked forward to being married and having a couple of children (and happily staying at home in that role), but there aren't any men left who want to commit and get married. As you said, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" It's sad, it's eroding the foundations of our society and it's killing the intrinsic beauty, joy and healthiness of male and female companionship as well (I enjoyed several close friendships with boys when I was a child). 💔

We’re both Gen X. Our Grandmas (WW2 era) knew this intrinsically.. They collectively told young men, you want sex, put a ring on it. The boys coming home from the war did just that, had a lot of sex, and the result was the Baby Boomers. Our Gramdmas didn’t have the Pill, legal abortions and lived in an era before sexual liberation. They paired off appropriately 1 to 1. I’m not saying it was perfect, but there were couples that stayed together until death. In about 4 generations we’ve lost the ability to have families.

@@929cbr_rr I’m well aware the WW2 gen had problems in their relationships as well. I’m aware longevity of the relationship and happiness in the relationship are not perfectly correlated. I’m aware women didn’t have other options if they left. Leave it to Beaver was a scripted Tv show and not real. Then as now, people that were happy for decades were a minority of cases. However, this broken home society is a disaster. In the black community it’s the cause of boys going into gangs and getting life sentences before they are old enough to buy beer. There’s unwed mothers , suicides, poverty, people unable to form relationships and just having sex wherever, and women doing porn because they’re aren’t any other jobs.

This is a very interesting topic and you bring out some very valid points. 59 years old and divorced 8 years. I’ve dated 3 women post divorce and had sex over 1000 times with these 3. I didn’t set out to date or count the number of times, it just somehow happened. Women are desperately searching for men and found me. All 4 were hyper sexual. Very new concept for me, but why not, right?? I enjoyed the relationships but they took the lead in having sex. I was totally honest that I was not looking for marriage. Even though they pushed the sex, they all eventually got upset, pissed off and claimed that I used them. Very disappointing to me cause this simply wasn’t true. 99% of women still want a husband and they still believe they can convince a man to marry them by throwing themselves at us. They just refuse to understand that they have devalued their own worth by being so open to sex. Unfortunately, too much sex is dangerous for men. It makes us crave women, but mainly just for sex. After the “craziness” starts showing up, the sex isn’t enough to keep us so we move on to the next one. Rinse and repeat. I don’t need the drama in my life but I still crave the sex. The cycle of starting over is draining, so we as men need to break free of our intense sexual desires and enjoy alternatives ways of filling our time.

Contemplating the depths of the observations and conclusions that you've come to, to say, darn, that sounds like the problem with society in general. The only way for men to protect themselves in today's society is to not get married to the state, as it's laws are slanted to hypergamous, narcissistic, psychopathic women, that want to rape men of their resources and dignity. Unfortunately, the 60's produced a mindset that's anti family. Women that are seeking elusive happiness at the expense of her husband and children. Are there truly good women out there? I think that in the 1950's, for instance, most couples got married young because women, for the most part, wouldn't have sex until marriage. The women didn't have "high body counts." When a man married, he felt that his wife belonged to only him. The divorce rate was very low.

Just a random male observer here; I think that most single men have all the male friends they need (which is probably a very low number). If they have a female friend, it is likely sexual relations they are looking for. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a hard and fast rule. When I was divorced, I had a female friend who was also on the dating scene (purely platonic, from my side at least; I can’t speak for her) and we would swap dating horror stories and hang out. Now that I am remarried, we have remained friends. But I think this is a bit rare. Men think about sex all the time….. like so many times a day. It is a huge and constant biological need. So for a guy to have a purely platonic female friend….. well, what’s the point? They have male friends who are easier and less maintenance to hang with and talk sports, cars, etc., and complain about women LOL. Just my two cents.

Let's be real. The vast majority of men in your life who aren't related to you would absolutely bang you if you indicated that was a possibility in even the most tangential manner. That's just how men are, it is what it is. If you do want to cultivate genuinely platonic relationships with men, you need to be consistently crystal clear about it and never, ever waver in that clarity. Don't be surprised if 90+% of the male friends in your life disappear. The ones who are left though, they're likely to be lifelong friends since they have the emotional maturity to see you as a human being, not just a woman.
