Why my Priest bit a woman and denied her communion this week.

I saw the video, and the woman said that the priest “wouldn’t give her the cookie”. The fact that she called the Host a “cookie” and tried to grab it out of the priest’s hand demonstrates that she was not a practising Catholic. The priest did the right thing in denying her communion and protecting it.

I also watched news videos on it (well the ones on KZbin as I’m across the pond) I and many others are genuinely question if this woman did this for some sort of agenda - whether to be able to say ‘a priest gave me communion despite me being dressed like a man’ (because she makes a point to mention to the police she thinks his refusal was due to how she was dressed) Or if her intention was always to desecrate the Host but outwith the Mass and that was why she was so determined to get ahold of one. The priest is clear in the police body cam footage that she didn’t have a clue on how to approach to receive the Eucharist at the 10am Mass so he refused and blessed her instead and she returned to the next Mass where he asked her simply if she had been to confession in between Masses and if not she couldn’t receive and then she pushed the priest and grabbed a handful. So Rob and other witnesses who in the comments were saying they were at the Mass are all saying the same thing but the two women are who have a different story…

My dad was Catholic. My mom Protestant. I received all of my sacraments as a child and then only went to the Assembly of God church for 30+ years. I was diagnosed with celiac disease and could no longer take communion because the wheat would give me terrible symptoms. I went to confession and returned to the Catholic Church. I receive communion at least weekly. I’ve never once suffered symptoms of eating gluten. My doctor has done blood titers on me to check for gluten. My tests are always negative. The bread is no longer bread. It is the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ. I pray for God to have mercy on this woman. She doesn’t understand.

This priest did what EVERY priest should have done! I am an usher at my Cathedral, and I have often stopped people who are walking away with the Host and asked them if they are Catholic, when they answer "No" or just blank, I take the Host from them. This is stopping blasphemy. The woman should be charged with blasphemy, attempting to steal a Host, assault etc.

I’m Protestant (catholic - not yet), and this is wild!! I see zero fault in the Priest. He’s doing his duty and some random person comes along to dirty it; anyone would protect against from someone who determines to destroy! I pray nothing negative happens to this Holy Priest! His response was natural, which is even more beautiful, because his natural response was holy. That lady… Lord have mercy upon her. We can pray for her. She better not cry out for whatever the liberals, darker in spirit, folks say….Father did nothing wrong. I’ve been attending the local Mass here every Saturday evening since after Thanksgiving. Learning much, time by time, and doing my own “homework”, processing it. I do go up for prayer of blessing from the priest (with a heart full of humility and DELIGHT same time), hands crossed over my chest, head bowed in reverence, and go about…. I am grateful….. I don’t want to be disrespectful, I am a Christian saved by Jesus Christ and baptized at age 7, and even still I , too , respect the Catholic Church and the individual who works sacrificially in humility . .. I don’t have all the answers, but Jesus does, and I rest in HIS shadow & blood. (Side note: if this was another religion it would be neon news… so sad…. Jesus , God the Fatherr, Holy Spirit is not a joke! Even still He is big enough to take it. Talk to a priest about becoming Catholic. Get a Baltimore Catechism #2, or a copy of Credo by Bishop Schneider and start reading! The format of a Catechism breaks up the information in short, q&a segments. Also a Douay Rheims or Knox Bible (Protestant Bibles are missing books). There are charts online showing how many chapters to read in 15 minutes each day to read the Bible in a year. God will bless your efforts! ❤ and 🙏

I have never heard, a Catholic, call the Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament, a cookie, I have heard that, in Anti Catholic circles. Your priest did the right thing ! It is the duty of the priest, to make sure that the Eucharist is treated with reverence, and the people receiving are properly disposed! In my parish in Gainesville, one of my priests told the story of somebody acting suspicious with the Eucharist after they had received it the priest had to chase them down and make sure that they consumed the Eucharist. Because witchcraft and black masses are a real thing. I'm not saying she's aligned with them, but it's very suspicious! Is the duty of every Catholic to be aware, your priest did the right thing to defend the Eucharist from sacrilege. 🔥🤟

​@@crazyfaith77 well if you actually read the articles, you would know that she didn't know the appropriate way of receiving communion in a Catholic parish. She didn't even hold out her hands or anything. She didn't say Amen when the priest held the Body of Christ in front of her. That was enough for him to release that she was either not a Catholic or hasn't been practicing in a long time. And yes, other Christians practice a form of communion but it's not the same as how we Catholics practice it. We believe that when the bread and wine are consecrated at Mass, they become the literal Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. It's not a symbol, it's not "bread and wine". You have to go to confession and be in a state of grace to receive.

The videos show that and witness have stated that also. She was probably a returning Catholic and lost touch with the changes. I am defending him or her but there is always to sides to every story and the biases will protect who they will protect. Remember, these are all consecrated hosts, so they are the Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Father was completely justified in biting her to stop her from defiling anymore hosts! I’m sure the charge of assault by the priest will be handled discreetly, as it should, by the Bishop of the Diocese. Also, if you are a practicing Catholic, then you should not even be entertaining the thought of criminally charging the priest. More important, if you are a practicing Catholic, then you need to have a chat with your pastor about transubstaniation. In addition to that, you need to go to confession before receiving Communion.

I've heard of a no of priests who are just nearing retirement facing these attacks - it's almost like trying to destroy the good guys reputation. Put the Priest in a position to have to protect what is Holy. Beware Priests, they're coming & they want notoriety! If I saw somebody reaching into the chalice to destroy or mock, I would probably do more than try to bite their evil hands away - I'd probably be in prison, because the world doesn't respect Jesus as Lord - but I do. This is very disrepectful to God. Regardless of this persons situation in life or her frame of mind theres no excuse for this. Its a shame these elderly priests who have dutifully served the church and community have to deal with such an aggressive people, thinking of what occurred a few months ago to Bishop Mar Mari of the Eastern Orthodox church. Its definitely concerning of the society we live in today. The priest has every right to refuse to give the eucharist to a person and religiously correct a parishioner or visitor as he is placed by God in that position to perform a vital duty. If this trend of violence continues soon there will be airport style security introduced to protect priests and parishioners from such troublemakers.

Excellent explanation! Definitely praying for Father. No Catholic "takes" communion, they receive communion. No Catholic would ever call the precious Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Savior a "cookie." He did the right thing in the heat of the attack. This was clearly a set up. A very similar type of sacrilege was perpetrated in 2012 the DC Archdiocese. The daughter of a deceased Catholic woman marched into the sacristy while Father was vesting for Mass and brazenly introduced him to her "wife." When she dared to go up for communion, Father discreetly covered the ciborium. So she quietly stepped aside and got in line for the "Eucharistic minister," who had not heard what went on in the sacristy. After the funeral, the daughter immediately contacted the newspapers. screeching about how she was "denied communion at her own mother's funeral" --- Shamefully the Cardinal Archbishop of DC did not back up Father but left him twisting in the wind of vicious media firestorm.

We had an incident recently where a woman (who nobody in the church had seen before) recieved communion, kept it in her hand, and instead of going with the flow of people in the usual order of returning to their seats, she went back up the main aisle toward the exit. It happened so quickly, but a parishioner in line for communion noticed, snatched the host out of the woman’s hand, and consumed it. The woman left quickly. I don’t have an ideological stance regarding communion in the hand, but this is becoming more frequent, and I think we are going to HAVE to start shifting back to communion in the mouth, along with the precision blood to soften the host. Becuase in theory you can hold the host pretty neatly in your mouth until you get outside. The Byzantine method might be the surest safeguard.

It was totally obvious from the details of the story that the woman could not be given the Eucharist. I've seen it happen multiple times at my parish too, that people (generally NOT regular parishioners) approach in the Communion line and they show all too clearly that they do not understand what this is or what to do or they do something sacrilegious and they are NOT given Holy Communion. It's exactly right that St Paul teaches that the person who doesn't discern that the Eucharist is really Jesus and is rightly disposed, eats and drinks judgment on themself--THEY are harmed by unworthily partaking.

God bless this holy priest. People stealing the Eucharist is another reason Communion in the hand should be abolished. It's how I was taught, but it needs to go. Bring back the altar rail!

That woman was under the control of demons. May God protect your priest. I’m Orthodox, and laity never handle the Eucharist in our tradition. The Priests in my parish would always ask a would-be communicant they did not recognize whether they were Orthodox and had prepared. They would refuse Communion and offer a blessing instead if the answer was negative.

I remember my grandma used to “watch” people go up to Communion. She used to tell me “If anyone looks like they aren’t taking the Eucharist, if they put it in their pocket, or whatever-We need to let the Ushers know bc people are coming into the churches and attacking God by taking the Eucharist and attacking God!” I remember me being a teenager or young adult, just thinking “How odd!” Maybe I was just young and naive. But now that I am older, I am more aware. I live in San Antonio and the priest at our church-I see him. Not just the Priest, but all the Eucharistic Ministers-but I truly notice our priest will stop anyone, a teenager, a child, ANYONE-he stops, he will talk to him (obviously I can’t hear what he’s saying, but he’s pointing at their hands and I’m sure telling them they need to accept the Eucharist and not just walk away with it). I see this happening at our church. I notice it’s mostly young kids/teens that look like they are just walking off and not putting the Host in their mouths. Maybe they don’t quite grasp that it is The Lord literally in their hands, idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I applaud the priest in Orlando for protecting our Lord! I used to love an hour away from Orlando and we used to go to The Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe church in Orlando when we would go to Disney, or Orlando. They had multiple masses throughout the day. It sounds like whoever this lady is, sounds like she obviously is not a Catholic and she obviously doesn’t know or maybe she does know and is attacking Jesus. It’s sad. People are coming into churches and shrines everywhere and attacking God. I’m so glad the priest did what he did. I pray God blesses him and protects him. ❤ 🙏🏽

YES! I agree that THE CHURCH needs to press charges. For the past 10 years The Church has repeatedly let these criminals go unscathed- never pressing charges as though it some act of mercy. Whether its destruction of property, stolen property, slander, assault and battery, etc,

Criminals? ? give me a break. Taking bread pieces is NOT criminal the way spray painting their building would be. Or robbing the poor box. Nor is hefty criticism of any church criminal. If a secular court bowed down to a unique Roman doctrine of bread pieces actually being Jesus, that court would be giving special favor to a religion. Not done in USA.

One of the most impactful stories I’ve heard on “noticing people” is told to every medical-psychiatric student. I have to be vague to keep this from being deleted. It’s a true story of a man who intentionally jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. The police still had to investigate it and they roped off the man’s apartment. The man’s psychiatrist asked if he could retrieve his patients journal- which they let him. The psychiatrist got to his car and opened the journal to the last entry. It said, “I’m walking to the bridge today. If one person smiles at me, I won’t jump.”

Ive heard something similar and I make it a point of smiling and saying hi to those who pass by. There is a saying in my culture that says its Jesus who left the salutations. Its costs nothing to smile and be kind but it can change a persons day.

Thank you, brother, for clarifying this serious incident involving a stupid woman who forcibly wanted to receive the Eucharist in two attempts. The priest is right in his actions and denies this woman communion according to the Church laws, and the priest has all the right to do what is right. The woman should be charged. She may not be from the priest parish but someone or non catholic who wanted to just grab the Body of Christ and make a mockery of the Eucharist in a sacrilege manner. I'm praying for this priest and thank him so much for loving Jesus and the Church and its teachings. ❤❤❤

@ajyoung... You are so right. Even if his right hand was not already holding up our Lord and was instead empty, he could NOT very well have grabbed her hand. But only practicing Catholics would truly appreciate and understand this. It did not strike me so yes, thank you for this comment.
