When Julianne ran new York the trains actually ran and maintenance was carried out. Then democrats took over and started funding everything else with the subways budget. Now they can't even maintain the damn thing much less run it on time.

It doesn’t run infrequently. During normal operation (non-nights) longest it will take is 7 min. It’s only at nights you get those crazy wait time. Most European metros don’t run past midnight (let alone 24/7) Edit: a lot of people don’t know what “longest” means. NYC is one of few metros I’ve traveled on that has express routes too so over all travel is faster.

It's gotten much worse since the pandemic. Before it was uncommon to wait more than 5 minutes ever. Now it's common to have 10+ minute waits on the most busy lines. Trains randomly stop in the tunnel and there are signal problems, disruptive passengers etc taking up time and making everyone late.

No. The Archer Ave/JFK bound J often runs less than the L. You can take the AirTrain or whatever but don’t recommend it. The Brooklyn-bound L from Union Sq. is routinely one of the most crowded trains you can catch. They are probably running because the last cab on trains is less crowded, and they spied a tasty seat for the ride home.

As a born and raised New Yorker, I’ve learned over the years that if people need to be somewhere at a certain time, most of them only leave their houses with just enough time to get there on time, instead of leaving earlier so they don’t have to rush. Sorry but that shouldn’t be acceptable. In London we complain if a train takes 12 minutes. Most of the main lines come every 2-3 minutes. This frequency is cause it gets ridiculously packed during rush hour and most London workers can’t afford the inner city and live in suburban towns so they’re heavily reliant on trains.

I've personally witnessed two times, when someone was running at full speed to get through those closing doors and ended up full-on slamming into set already closed doors, head first. So, be careful because that sh*t REALLY hurts. Like, those people definitely did not get back up for a while. I've also seen someone who got his head momentarily stuck between closing bus doors. Of course they opened back up again rather quickly but it did leave the guy quite a severe head ache.

Here in Berlin the subway comes every 3-5 minutes and people tear the doors apart and run forever to get on it. Edit: Wow I like that I reached so many people so I would like to add the actual information I wanted to give with this: If you give people the opportunity to always be in a hurry then they'll always be. It is the same with all the other issues we have these days. If you give them the opportunity to be offended or to be worried or to be hateful... They'll always be. As a psychologist I can tell you why. Because the human mind can't comprehend the negative. Don't think of a pink elephant... 😉 And always remember that period stress is one of the most dangerous and yet most undervalued sources of illnesses. Be in peace from time to time. 🌹

Interesting. I don't live in New York, so I'm mainly just speaking in general, everywhere, all throughout North America. 15 minute intervals should be the longest anyone should have to wait for public transportation. And it should be done before, not after, there is a demand for it. It's a chicken or the egg problem. People are just going to choose to drive cars, even if it bankrupts them, before they use an inconvenient public transportation system.
@ex0stasis72
@ex0stasis72 Жыл бұрын
And if you say that it's not feasible everywhere in the less populated areas, then I agree with you. But that's also part of the problem. We need more areas with a more dense population so that those areas become more affordable.

@ex0stasis72 those 30 min waits are only from delays( stalled train, homeless person being choked to death, track fires, power outages rare) .here in NYC u can get around faster underground than above.i have a car as well but I don't commute with it( too expensive) so the car stays home and I bus and train for work.

As a Greek who lives in Athens and takes the Metro frequently, it's absolutely absurd if a train takes even 15 minutes to arrive (Metro trains here run on approximately 6-8 minute intervals, depending on congestion). I also spent a lot of time growing up in the American Northeast, between NY and Philly. Whenever one of my mates complains about the Metro being late, I have the distinguished honor of telling him about the insane timetables of subway systems in the Northeast US. Needless to say, they're always shocked.

You say it as 10 minutes is sooo frequent 😂 Russia and almost all post-soviet countries have their trains come every 2-3 minutes during the day. 10 minutes range is like... at midnight. And it is usually 8 minutes maximum at midnight. Subway is extremely demanded in the mornings, our trains come like every 40 seconds. Otherwise, the place would have been overcrowded, and it may cause accidents. And yes, each post-soviet country's subway is funded by its government.

@@endeliggnist5066it’s actually 4 mins for most train lines, don’t know why this person said 10mins. Some train lines will have multiple train companies on the same line so it’s even more frequent than 4 mins.
