So fun fact, at least about Goryu, even though it can be summoned with 1 tribute and sent to the graveyard during the end phase, this cannot occur via the effect of Mausoleum of the Emperor, meaning of you want to summon the card that way, you have to pay 2k. At least that’s how the DS games handled it.
@azuredragoon20543 жыл бұрын
I think it's a ruling with Mausoleum where it must use the base number of tributes for its effect. And you're not actually using monsters either, so if you paid 1000 to normal summon Ohka its effect would still go off because it was normal summoned without a tribute.
@borisheidenreich18303 жыл бұрын
Mausoleum clearly says that it is *not* a tribute summon, MM's specify the tribute summon
@azuredragoon20543 жыл бұрын
@@borisheidenreich1830 Ohka's text: "You can normal summon this card without tributing. If you do, during the end phase; send this card to the GY." It will go off regardless of why it's normal summoned without a tribute. This means "Cost Down", Mausoleum and other cards will not prevent its effect from working. My comment was specific to Ohka. And in regards to Goryu for the same reason: if you use a monster that can treat itself as two tributes, it will still count as only using one monster to tribute summon Goryu and will also send itself to the GY in that case.

I played Goryu back when I played. The deck I used was more revolving around discarding stronger monsters then bringing them back (I played limited, so I had more options, but yea, deck was more of a gimmick than anything, even though I did have some success with it). So basically I would use him as discard fodder for the most part then use Monster Reborn or something like that to bring him back. Or if the game was about done I might have used him to finish the game, even though I didn't do a lot of tributing with that deck. Sometimes you get fun ideas with these cards when you play more casual, though I know that deck would have been disqualified at a big tournament (or just really bad if I did update it to be tournament legal).

My deck you can say as a little dis-proportioned since i was running a bunch of boss fairies but no krystia at the time, but ran 3 honests. I actually used the one very heavily in the yugioh 5DS DS game. With power decka basically being the meta for it, dropping a 2400 monster actually helped. Making an opponent waste their mirror force/any battle traps mainly. Other than that it made good revival into easy synchro for stardust or red dragon archfiend. Card would never be competitive irl, but in some games it was a good addition when other choices weren't available because you havent opened the pack yet or the game didn't have it.

An important thing to remember, in every TCG not just Yugioh. Count the "Ifs". If i have a monster to tribute, if I still have my normal summon, if my opponent has a monster in defense position, if that damage dealt is enough to win the game. What makes or breaks a card (and archetype) often comes down to how many ifs are needed for a win condition. It's why one of my favorite archetypes in yugioh will never be competitive. Skull servant, by it's very nature, is a deck filled with dead draws. using wightprince effectively mandates at least 4 garnets in the deck, which is 1/10th of said deck.

Funniest thing about Senku is that Masked Sorcerer already existed years before. For just a measly 100 less ATK, it stays on the field (and sure, this means your opponent has a good shot at taking down some of your LP, but the benefits far outweigh that). On top of that, for the draw to occur the damage it deals doesn't have to be a direct attack either: its effect also triggers if it attacks a weaker ATK monster or if it's attacked in defense position by a monster with less than its DEF, which is 1400.
