I bought my 2015 SS new in April 2016 from a Chevy dealer in Austin Tx. I had previously owned a G8 GT, so I was well aware of what the SS was. I paid $38K for it. At that price it was a huge bargain. A couple of years later I put a Whipple supercharger on it. Then headers. Likely over 700hp at the crank. ECU tune and tranny tune...all in for $55K total. No comparable car at that cost will do what my SS does: Take me to work comfortably and reliably every day and blow the doors off most cars that cost 2x what I have in my SS. I could probably sell it for $50K or more today with 57K miles. This knucklehead is unfairly nitpicking what is a great sports sedan.

I love your content but as an SS owner myself I never understand these kind of videos. All the vehicles you mentioned are designed in America. The SS is an Australian car. The one thing I agree with is the mylink and stereo leave a lot to be desired. Mine is a manual so have no experience with the auto. The other cars you mentioned with the higher HP are well over the 48k MSRP of the SS. Take the price difference and put that in the SS and you will have a 4 door that will sh*t on the others. The real draw of the SS for most is the fact that it’s a V8 RWD sedan available in manual. The only car of its kind on the planet at that time. Sleeper status was also a plus. Not to mention low volume numbers so you don’t see two dozen a day like Camaros, mustangs and dodges.

I agree. If anything I think sales suffered for the SS because it came as a loaded trim level only, squeezing out the buyers that would have loved this as a low - mid $30k car at time of production. Had they done it without mag ride and with a lower grade interior I think a lot more could have been sold had Holden production not ended. I’m thrilled to finally own a 16 manual now, but if it had come out with a lower trim level like the G8 had the “GT” and “GXP” the SS could have been a bigger success.

Camaros, mustangs, challengers, and chargers are all a dime a dozen. You see them everywhere. Even upgraded, fast ones are boring (in my opinion) because of this. The Chevy ss is a true sleeper. It shouldn’t race all these supercharged cars cause it’s not in the same class. It’s N/A. Sure, it deserves a turbo or supercharger, but it works well without it. It’s a great dd with the exception of fuel economy. It should do wayyyyy better. My only gripe about my car. If I wanted a flashy head-turner , I’d go get one. This car is a breed of its own. Rare and unadultered, it compares to no other car on the road. It’s a class of its own.

Doesn’t the 2017 Chevy ss come with the T6060 transmission?

@@konns_cars I don’t know much about the 6L80 trans
@konns_cars Жыл бұрын
It’s not a bad trans. It’s strong for what it is. But it’s bad in comparison to the 8l90s and 10l90s in the newer Camaros and corvettes. The 6l90 in the 2nd gen V’s and the 5th gen ZL1s is noticeable more capable too

Is 39k a bad price for a black 2014 ss with 89k miles Serviced every 5k Miles ?
@yeldarbrellef2 жыл бұрын
Probably a bit high for a 2014. I wouldn’t buy a 2014 no 4 wheel brembos no magnetic ride, no manual option if that was something important. With the car market the way it is now vehicles are bringing stupid money so you may have to pay a premium to get what you want. That being said I owned 3 SS’s and they are great cars. The auto vs the manual is no comparison. The manual is a 1000x more enjoyable to drive than the auto. Good luck.

Are the SS and Malibu the same body size?
@lajoskozak51223 жыл бұрын
My dude. Australia car scene lover here . How is it fair comparing the SS to 2 door coupes? And the ctsv no cheaper either. Is $30kAUD more. Walkinshaw performance here gets you from 304kw to 497kw for $20kAUD, so still cheaper then ctsv. You obvi have a hardon for cars that only come with two seats, two doors. Too much bias bro
@harleywhite96053 жыл бұрын
Should check out the hsv grange and Gts's or calias same chassis but why more luxurious and the hsv's are the more aggressive and preformance based the ss is literally a v8 family car 😁
@chevychitchat2 жыл бұрын
Take off the rear doors, take out the back seat,sell your kids, buy a manual gbox, ring edelbrock for a blower. Or don't buy one.
@MilitaryMatters1Ай бұрын
This is a dumb biased video. The Chevy SS is awesome. No downsides. You get power, speed, drivability, SPACE FOR THE FAMILY, the ENGINE IS EASY TO WORK ON- LS3 parts available everywhere. You arent getting that out of an Impala SS or Malibu SS. Chevy SS can destroy Corvette's with a good Cam upgrade and tune.
