at France, he was protected. Just like when he's at Juventus. Thus he's free to roam the attacking third. With Kante and Matuidi covering his back along with world class defenders like Varane, the defense are solid enough to let him free in attacking. at Juventus, he had player like Khedira and Vidal behind him, and Pirlo as the deep-laying playmaker helps Pogba to be able to focus on his role as mezzala. at United, he's at his best when playing as the left CM in a 3-mid formation with little defensive duty. But United rarely use that formation because they lack the personnel, mainly pure winger and a world class defensive midfielder. Fred and McTominay are 2nd DMs, the only DM they had is Matic who's 32 years by now. So signing VDB is like telling Pogba to leave instead of strengthening the team since they both had the same role, but VDB is more proactive in defense. Pogba needs to play as either an attacking midfielder or a mezzala with less defensive duties (with the other 2 midfielder doing the defense and tracking back).

The biggest reason why Pogba failed at Manchester United is that he had an argument with Jose Mourinho. Since then he was playing really good under Jose, the 2017-18 was great for Man United and Pogba was a key man, but then something went wrong and players started playing badly and managed to get Mourinho sacked, and an argument between Pogba nad Mou was a big factor why he got sacked. After that Pogba had a few great games under Ole, but it was just the start of Ole managing the team and now Pogba just don't fit the way Ole wants to play. Right now Ole is just wasting his talent and its also because of Bruno Fernandes' arrival to the club. He needs to leave to spread his wings in another club like he did in Juve, or Man United need to sack Ole and hire a manager who can fit Pogba in the team properly, but i don't think that will happen. I wish Pogba all the best, because he's a world cup winner for a reason and right now he's just wasting his prime time in the team that he don't fit in.

I think this is a fair and balanced assessment of the situation. Pogba has had bad individual performances for sure but I never believed United scouted him properly to understand why he was good at Juventus and too much was expected of him especially as he was a record signing. He's undoubtedly improved as a player but never really thrived as United have refused to build a competitive team since 2013 instead relying on marquee signings to do the job. Also, the media have taken advantage of his silence to portray him as an unlikeable character, not forgetting the whole "unlocking Pogba" narrative that Sky Sports have been pushing. It's unfortunate that it's had to end like this but you hope United can learn whatever lessons they can, until you remember who their board is.

The big issue has always been Raiola. This move is being engineered likely because he wants another payday and Paul is the quickest way to do it. Agents have far too much power these days and that shows when an agent is able to disrupt a club like this. Not to mention, Raiola knew his timing would cause the most anger and the most chance of a move. He did fail at United, it's not even a debate. When he joined from Juve, considering the level he was playing at in Italy.. i was expecting him to run the show, pinging passes all over the field, long diagonals, little lofted balls into the box, scoring screamers most weeks, basically i thought he'd dominate everything. I thought he would do for us what Yaya Toure done for city but he hasn't even got close to that level of form. You can't say it's because of United, when they brought Bruno Fernandes in 7 months ago and he has literally done more than Pogba in 7 months than what Pogba has done in 5 years.. speaks volumes really

I do think pogba is overrated compared to other quality midfielders. But he is part of a team and letting his agent do what he did before an important game is disgraceful. It is poor from united letting his agent play games like he does. I would make him train by himself and wouldn’t use him in any games. Until his contract runs out. Then let him go on a free. Players and agents shouldn’t be in control of the club, it should be the manager.
