It's important to note the subtext of those latter two videos. The First - Candace Owens - is an ultra conservative Republican who functions as a political operative (Note: the Rs HATE Taylor Swift's influence and power to motivate and mobilize the younger generations, women, and Dems to register and exercise their right to vote) . And really, the second video is similar in nature, although, not as sophisticated or strategic in its objective - which is to dog Taylor for their politically-aligned base (the "Dads, Brads and Chads of the NFL/Conservative world). These people - they don't know why they hate Taylor other than a certain political figure and conservative network have told them to do so, and also too, they hate any bright light, any educated, inclusive, kind, successful, talented, self-made, joyful, generous, sweet - and/or WEALTHY -- soul. Many conservatives do. So yes, you nailed it - they're all hating Taylor just to hate Taylor. And she has stood up amazingly well under all the unfair, baseless criticism, hate and pressure. And the sad truth is, they don't understand just how hypocritical and ignorant they sound. Not to mention, the extreme, targeted attacks on Taylor's character are quite clearly politically motivated. Full stop. Oh yes, btw, followed your Spotify - you and your band are awesome! ;)@@wrighteousj

"The worst kind of person is someone who makes someone feel bad, dumb or stupid for being excited about something." -TS I went to the eras tour movie alone on the day of public release. I bought the ticket for it as soon as it was available but i was alone. To add context i have pretty severe depression and anxiety (among other things). It was a particularly hard day and i was having (very) dark thoughts. I was a ball of anxiety and as soon as the movie started, most of the cinema was singing. I am insecure and socially anxious but i started singing too. At the beginning of “you belong with me” people started running down the stairs and i did too. All of the other swifties there made me secure enough to sing along for the entirety of the movie and dance through the more dance-ish parts. I wasn’t able to bring bracelets because i ran out of supplies, but i left the cinema with them. For nearly three hours i forgot about the darkness of my life and did the things that i’m too insecure to do even in front of my family. Whatever the haters say, Taylor’s art saved my life and gets me through everyday. Of course there are toxic Taylor Swift fans. But that applies to every single fanbase in the world. Some people simply take it too far. But the real swifties are a genuinely an amazing community that i am proud to be a part of

The biggest misconception is that Taylor’s fanbase is full of teenage girls. Also that most people who are either casual fans or don’t like her at all don’t understand that Taylor brilliantly built her career and fanbase around being just like us. She was nerdy, goofy, kind of shy and awkward when her career began. She often shared her life with us via MySpace posts, tumblr posts, messages, gifts she picked out and hand delivered to fans homes for Christmas. Paid off college tuitions, paid for new homes for fans who lost them in fires, showed up to baby showers, weddings, birthday parties and proms fans invited her too. She marketed herself as everyone’s bestie, and she built loyalty through it. We’ve read literal pages from her diaries, we’ve met her mom, dad and brother. She created the parasocial relationship most celebrities shame and denounce with fans and she nursed and tended to it diligently.
@STARK01817 ай бұрын
Is that parasocial relationship a good thing though?? The reality is most of Taylors fans aren't her besties and don't know her.

This was brave lmao, thank you for caring enough to address this! I think she's reached a level of fame that has dehumanized her to many people. She is used as a weapon for people to try and prove their political points and her name is probably one of the most abused when it comes to clickbait/stir the pot tactics. Many people struggle to admit that she is a normal human woman, a daughter, a friend from school who followed her passion and had a strong family unit behind her backing her up. It really is that simple, she's not this bigger than life figure that is immune to all this blind hatred, I'm sure she's learned by now how to take it on the chin though. Thanks again for defending us fans (the ones that aren't psychos anyway)

I’m convinced Candace is simply trolling Taylor for hate clicks. She will latch on to ANY reason to criticize her and run with that far past the breaking point of logic. She had a segment criticizing Taylor for doing a fun high-five with Britany Mahomes, and it was “infantilizing herself”. It’s not objective, it’s not good faith, it’s simply intellectual dishonesty for the greater part.
@khills9 ай бұрын
I mean, that’s Owens’ schtick in a nutshell. But also, conservatives are going to try to crack Taylor however they can, and generate as much hate as they can, cuz they’re terrified of what she might do if she actually told Swifties how to vote. (Even tho the first time she did that she lost, polling data still suggests she had a massive impact on that race.)

The murderer saw that person shine, felt their glow and wanted to steal those attributes for themselves. In their twisted heads, snuffing out that light gives some of its brightness to them. It doesn’t obviously, but they just can’t stand for someone else to shine. Ditto with Taylor. There's an interview with (the late great) Kobe Bryant from 2019 where he talks about Taylor Swift for almost two minutes: "You can't have that level of consistent success and not be a killer. It's impossible." Just look at her re-recording and releasing her first SIX albums to retake some ownership of them. There's two things people need to understand about that: 1) she needs it to sound as close to identical to the original version so that people will listen to (and lease it) over the original, and that's really hard to do when you have a fully matured voice at 30+, to sing and sound the way you did when you were in your early twenties -- and she absolutely nails it; and 2) she wouldn't be able to do that easily, if she had to go get permission from all of the original writers to remake it -- she doesn't have to get permission from the writers because she has ALL the writing ownership. Conservative media loses their sh*t over Taylor because she is a pretty blonde, very Christian, deep family values, self-made and incredibly successful! And also very liberal, empathetic, and generous with both her time and money. They absolutely hate it. I've enjoyed a lot of your TS reactions, I didn't know where this was going to go and if I'd hate it, but in the end, I was right there, mad as hell with you!

Men worshiping bands like Metallica, kiss (dressing up wearing full makeup) or supporting a sports team are NEVER frowned upon.. but Taylor Swift fans are hated on 🙄 And to add to what you said in the video. Taylor is also going to war for producers getting paid fairly because as it is the producers don’t normally want to work on songs if they aren’t co-writer’s because then they don’t get paid. Jack Antonof tho has chosen to produce her songs even if she has written 100% of the song. If producers would get paid even when they don’t co-write would change the music industry. She also seems like an okay person ( I try not to idolize people I don’t know) so I don’t really get why people go out of their way to hate others. Unless they are an actual horrible human being but Taylor doesn’t fit that so idk.

“Infantilize” is never a word I’d put on Taylor. And I’m 47. My stepmom is over 70 and she went to the Eras concert and loved it. That guy refused to call The Chicks what they rebranded themselves as BECAUSE he’s “not a sexist” and clearly doesn’t get why they rebranded… they dropped one word from their name…. what a douchbag! You GET IT! I so appreciate that!

This! She’s never tried to make herself out as younger than she is. People just can’t understand that when she started she WAS a teenager. She was young. But you can literally watch her age through her albums. Her most recent albums reference depression, anxiety, marriage, alcohol, etc. all adult themes. Like the adult she is. Even her break up songs have gotten more mature (you’re losing me is a perfect representation of a long term adult relationship dying out slowly, not a flame out that most young relationships go through).
@Sassyglbeauty9 ай бұрын
I don’t think she “faked” an accent. I used to do reviews on KZbin. And, it almost never failed that I would do an exaggerated country accent. For no real reason, other than it’s like me having an on screen “persona”…. When I used to be a receptionist, I always answered the phone in a way different manner than I speak in normal conversation. Also, it could be that it was her natural voice and she started taking diction lessons, etc to lose that bit of twang. But, she never had an overly southern twang.

Oh boy. I kind of envy the fact that you don’t know who Candace Owens is. I’m glad to hear you’ve watched Miss Americana - I’m curious how the knowledge from that video will affect some of your reactions (especially to the live performances when she was experiencing an eating disorder). Re: “she switches boys way too fast” - until this year, she had dated a young man for six years. Prior to that, she’d dated someone else briefly, then an 18-month relationship, and then… yes, she had some short, intense, relationships. Common for being 18 to 24 years old. But this isn’t the conservative-approved narrative of relationships for women. Conservatives are terrified of Taylor Swift. Her own version of rock the vote has lead to well over 100,000 new voters registering in just two drives - often in states that until very recently have been GOP strongholds. Until Miss Americana, conservatives could pretend Swift was one of them - and there was actually a serious effort to portray her as a Nazi sympathizer at one point. When she revealed she’s a feminist voting against the GOP the hate came fast and furious. This year, just an Instagram post suggesting people register to vote drove almost 40,000 independent views to a voter registration website. Within days, conservative media was full of things like what Owens is saying here about the Taylor Swift Problem. She’s a “ticking time bomb” because when she decides to fully go into politics, she’s gonna bring a lot of people who value her opinions.

The lady hating on TS is a conservative so she's shaking in her boots because her views fall on the left of the politics scale. Goes through relationships too quickly? Her last one was 6 years! She never comes across as scared or infantalized. She is confident, a boss and THE MAN...which is a hell of a trick because she's a WOMAN! You're good J. We know you're not responsible for the haters comments. I didn't like the country songs but in my defense, I'm 20 years older and these were songs by a teenage girl writing about her life. I am a Berklee-trained singer/songwriter and even if I didn't like her early stuff, I can see it's value. I've been saying for 20 years that she is a killer songwriter! She's finally getting the accolades she deserves! Having your own record label is HARD. She's surrounded herself with geniuses and makes all her major decisions and doesn't leave it to someone else. The two guys are just BS. In TS words, they all these haters need to calm down!

She moved to Nashville when she was 13 from outside of Reading PA. Her debut came out at 16. Some people do pick up some accents fairly quickly. Or maybe her record company did say turn on a southern accent. ...if you are a teenager with a new record deal and are told to do that, what are you going to do? You'll damn well turn on an accent. And it's not like Reading PA is without its own accent.

It’s misogyny, mostly. Folks love to hate a successful woman (see song The Man), especially a conventionally pretty white woman. 🤷🏼♀️ And A a lot of people hate who they think she is based on media portrayals of her, which are rarely accurate. And the first time she dominated, she was YOUNG - she was only 24, and had had THREE back-to-back successful albums at the time. No one could believe she did it on her own talent, despite her determination to write as much of her own music as possible. And at the same time, no one could believe her shock was genuine at winning - or that she was actually fans of the other musicians she was around. She’d get roundly mocked for being excited to see Madonna on stage, or for enthusiastically singing along to whatever band was performing at the awards shows, and then mocked for being shocked she was winning award after award. Basically, it got to the point she was mocked for breathing - she could do nothing right. A LOT of that is a reflection of what the entertainment industry was like in 2010+ - it was hugely toxic and did a number on all of the women in it.

@@kevinmathew2973 Sure! Talent is a natural aptitude or skill that can be developed. So tell me, how many instruments do YOU play? And how much are you paid for the lyrics and score you write for individual songs for other performers? How many movies have you directed? Music videos? Stage tours? Because Swift has taken her natural aptitude for writing song lyrics and music and developed them, along with her skills of dancing, singing, playing guitar, banjo, piano, and ukulele, and directing music videos, documentaries, and stage tours to become a billionaire. All of which takes, as per the dictionary definition, talent.

1: Candace Owens is AWFUL, she has SO many videos talking about Taylor with 0 logic. All hate, no actual line of thinking, just "she's awful cause I said so" OR "she dates too many men". (Despite her just getting out of a 6 year relationship)It's something... 2: The album they were referencing that didn't succeed when she created it solo, is probably one of her top 5 albums if not higher and the songwriting and concepts were SUCH a huge step for her at the time and it has such an interesting contrast between the maturity of growing up and the blind emotion of youth and the fantasy (like hope) of the in-between. It has some of the most consistent songwriting from her (in my opinion, not everyone's) and is broader genre wise than a lot of other albums, with some of her most country songs, pop-rock songs, and still a little bit of pop. The reason it wasn't as successful, was because her singles were the least pop sounding singles she has ever released. She also, as a person, was under attack for playing the victim EVEN more in this time and was being attacked relentlessly by the one critic for being awful in their eyes (it's the person they said in the video, that just said she couldn't sing, despite him CONSTANTLY criticizing her at the time, trying to claim everything was undeserved.) The amount of bad press and the steer away from mainstream music, is really what hurt the album. It's Speak Now if you wanted to check it out, although it might not be your style as it's much more country. 3: People who say Kanye gave her her fame are so dumb, because she was accepting an award for an already soon to be grammy nominated album, before he even interrupted her AND the album that followed it is arguably her worst performing album to date, following an era of harsh criticism and hate. To say her music is only this popular because of him is dumb, MAYBE she became slightly more famous because of that, but her music became less, so her career wasn't made by that at all. Hopefully this isn't toooooo ranty... lol
