50 grand for a 4 cylinder engine regardless if it has turbos is completely ridiculous turbochargers are going to ruin that small engine over time and in the long run you're going to end up paying out of your you know what. Usually these things will break down just slightly right after the warranty. And then you're screwed. You gotta keep making V8 pay the government fine because in the long run if people get what they want in this country they'll sell enough of those V8 trucks and they'll be able to pay the fine. These Japanese companies don't get it and don't give what the American people want then just don't make a product at all. Humans will survive without Toyota trucks.

The world is full of turbo diesels running for decades without significant trouble. It just depends how well implemented they are, and whether you avoid known ways to kill them. Basically don't run them hard when they are stone cold, or switch them off when they are glowing. Modern engines, like the Chevy 2.7T take care of the hot shutdown with separate cooling and lubrication which stays on even after switching the engine off. Starting your car in North Dakota on a cold winter day and immediately revving it hard will also result in turbo failure. 200,000rpm and oil like treacle don't mix well.

@@mibz1117 Really? So nobody could have got a million miles out of a RAM 3500 Cummins diesel in the Athabasca oilfields of Alberta. Hoovies Garage bought one and it was still working pretty well. Neither small nor a car. Diesels aren't magic, they just have correctly specified turbos.

They milked the COVID shortages as long as they could (to maximize $$), they’ve kept inventory levels low as long as they could (to maximize $$), and still they have the audacity to decide **for us** which vehicles get tossed our way, if they feel like it. No special orders, no requests, just take what WE give you and say thank you. Huh?? Those trucks and everything else they try to force-feed us the customers can sit there and rot.

As a three time previous Taco owner fanboy myself (most recently a '19 TRD-OR), Toyota successfully sold me on a Ranger Raptor....it was cheaper, it has a V6, it has a usable rear seat, has real bump stops, both front and rear lockers, live shocks, no stupid "port add-on's", and it doesn't look like it's dented under the side rear view mirrors. If I wouldn't have gotten a Raptor slightly under MSRP, then a ZR2/AT4X wouldn't been my next choice. Shocking that both GM and Ford have more compelling products at lower price points. What's going to happen to that secondary market with hybrid platforms? Most consumers seeking a used Tacoma or Tundra would probably find it prohibitive to repair these platforms, especially to obtain new hybrid batteries. I think this is a whole lot of "happy horse [blank]" projections by Toyota and other OEMs. It's planned obsolescence as you've said in the past, which I think will do long-term damage. And those panel gaps are outrageous. I remember the fender (over the right rear wheel well) on one of the Toyota trucks you showed in an earlier video. It appeared to have little bumps throughout. Really you’re just the current generation complaining about this or that and “if they only hadn’t changed this”. The good thing is you’re monetizing it and earning some cash off it. I’m sure over time you will warm up to your twin turbo hybrid Sequoia with the dreaded 3.5 V6. Toyota shit the bed with the new Tundra and Tacoma pricing. They were smoking the Covid crack pipe when they came up with the pricing. Some middle management clown thought this pricing up and Toyota exces were seeing $$$$ signs. Both of these trucks have been major flops. They are sitting on the new 4Runner cuz they know it's gonna be strike number three when that over priced turd hits the showroom. Just because Toyota can produce 250k units per year doesn't mean they can sell them. As a long time Toyota fanboy I am "meh" about the brand now. That is a crazy reversal of brand loyalty, forged over 35 years. Way to go Toyota!

I couldn’t have said it any better. After 30 years of Toyota brand loyalty, I am done with their overpriced and overhyped new Turbo and Hybrid vehicles. Tell your family and friends to stay far away from these new Toyota models. Absolute junk Toyota.

Toyota Tacoma Fails as listed: catastrophic failure on Auto/Manual Transmissions and over heating on Automatic Transmissions (my co-worker has experienced this the first 2 months of ownership), suspension top hat failing and breaking through to the frame/body, CV axles snapping on light duty off roading, transfer cases failing, whining and failing rear differential, interior climate controls/knobs breaking, infotainment screen breaking or needing rebooted after a couple of months, interior gloveboxes rattling and center console is flimsy, fit and finish is very cheap plastic and thin. A few engine problems have been happening like fail turbos or an issue with check engine light coming on (unknown’s at this time I’ll keep reading the forums). Way overpriced MSRP for a Mexico made low quality and problematic issues. Toyota also recommends changing the spark plugs every 40K miles on the new turbo engines, the cost to replace the spark plugs is close to $1,000. This truck hasn’t been out very long and the list of problems and added maintenance just keeps going up and up. Toyota, you really failed big time.

Recently leased a 24 Taco off road. Always respected Toyota but have never had a Toyota truck before. I really like how the 24 Tacoma drives, plenty of power and tons of torque from the turbo 2.4. Trans shifts nicely and the truck feels very responsive. Suspension is good for light off road and routine daily use in all conditions. I don't understand all the hate for this truck. It was about $45k selling price on a $50k MSRP. High Toyota residual values make the lease attractive. But I agree these trucks, and all new vehicles really, have gotten a lot more expensive. Before you pass judgement, go drive one, you might like it.

The biggest problem this new generation of Tacomas has, are the trolls on KZbin. When every car manufacture makes new and upgraded changes to any of their vehicles there are going to be hiccups, find me one new/car truck that A-doesn’t have trolls and B-the vehicle has no problems whatsoever, people want perfection right out of the gate!! It doesn’t work like that. You can never over see everything and be perfect. I have a 2024 Tacoma and I love it, I am a lease person as I don't put alot of miles on my vehicles and if anything breaks down on it I'm covered 100% including a rental, peace of mind for me!!! Yes I will always have a payment but I like a new every two or three. Yes their trucks are way over priced but the fact that there are so many sitting at my dealers lot it was a perfect bargaining chip for me, I got the deal I wanted and didn't budge!!!! I had a 2014 Tundra and loved it but it was time for an upgrade and since I don't tow big stuff it was too much truck for me. My Tacoma is perfect and super fun to drive and I use every safety feature!! So for those afraid to take a chance on any new car or truck, just make sure you get a full warranty with it whether your buying or leasing!! Hey you just might like it!!!

Nobody wants turbos…you take a inadequate engine and boost it so its basically always running at peak…as in with a NA v6/v8 they’re hardly ever working at peak = lasting forever!…

If the transmission in the Civic was a CVT I wouldn’t be surprised, I’d favor a standard 6 spd or a regular automatic any day, but I’ve leased Honda’s for the last 11 years & haven’t had a lick of trouble with any of them.(3 Accords, a Pilot & my present Ridgeline).

If it was just a matter of producing more units, why don’t other companies do that?
@bigal66842 ай бұрын
I don't think people are buying them just because they are there, but they have a stellar reputation and hands down best resale value. A vehicle doesn't have to be less reliable simply because it's more complex.....but it seems as if all the manufacturers have found ways to deliver poor quality at every turn.
@cageordie2 ай бұрын
Hate it? Questionable engines, garbage strut towers, extremely questionable front axle, garbage transmission. So, currently, no sale. I don't hate the new engines, but if the afore mentioned parts are failing on new vehicles then it doesn't matter how many of what they produce, I won't buy it. Their problem is that if they get a reputation for lacking reliability they won't sell. The Stelantis lots are full. That can happen to Toyota too. Toyota sells because they have a reputation for reliability, not because they are Toyota. If the new engines and transmissions had been reliable they might have been able to justify the cost. But I can get a mid spec Silverado 2500 for well under $60k. If I was buying tomorrow I'd probably buy the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X for a shade under $40k. For what I do the extra $10k for a 4Runner isn't worth it. 25% extra to enclose the rear end.
