It's understandable why they didn't show Porygon back then but it has been 20 years, they don't want to run salt in the wound but the fact is that it was a mistake; as humans we are prone to make mistakes so we know what to do and what not to do. I'm not saying that they should try to bring back that episode but to bring Porygon and it's evolutions back so it is no longer viewed as a symbol of that mistake.

It was not a mistake, it was a FREAK accident! So many things had to come together for it to happen.... Like how it only happened in the eastern side of japan because of japans duel electrical grid, half 50Hz, half 60Hz. (The higher frequencies of 60Hz is less likely to cause seizures.)

Pikachu and Team Rocket actually creating the scenario but Pikachu is a main character and Team Rock is important to the story and people would miss them so the producers probably decided to ban the Pokemon the episode was themed around.

Porygon actually makes a small and quick cameo in S1-E44 - A Chansey Operation. In the transition between the scene with the Weepinbell and Voltorb, and the one with the Dordrio (about 13 minutes into the episode) Porygon is seen for about 1/4 of a second.

Here is how to remade this episode safely, reanimate it in new art style so it will be legal. Remove all flashing lights and replace them with red screen with black lines slowly moving (it would still look like explosion). Any special effects that change light, just like the porygons fight scene need to have only one colour. Final thing is to remove all realistic lights and thats it. Now Im sure there would be no problems with that remade. Can you find any reasons why its not a good idea??

Porygon didn't deserve the harsh punishment for the episode when it was Pikachu's attack that triggered the event. I had hopes that they'd at least do an origin reboot for Porygon during Gen 4. They easily could have had someone in Team Galactic doing research on Porygon and Porygon2 in order to create the Dubious Disc.

People like to lable an episode of the series by what pokemon was focused on in it, which was porygon in this case. So, instead of editing the episode and airing it again, and bringing up bad memories of the incident, they banned the episode and secondary character porygon all together.

If you actually watch the episode you can see ash, pikachu,misty,Brock, and team rocket riding on porygon. Missiles were being shot at porygon and at the riders to. *PIKACHU (NOT PORYGON)* then used thunder bolt to protect everyone. As the missiles or rockets *COLLIDED* with the thunder blue and red lights started to flash really brightly. Porygon was just carrying them it had nothing to do with the flashing lights. Even though pikachu is my favorite pokemon I have to admit *PIKACHU* should have been the pokemon that got banned. They *couldn't* really do that though because pikachu was ash's partner pokemon, *AND* pikachu is a Pokemon that almost everyone loves and is the mascot of the show. Or they could just try to not have weapons like missile, collide with thunder bolts again.... :/

I will generally not hold it against the producers for deciding not to show stuff in the pokemon anime if there was a reason for it. I think there was an episode in hoenn where they were going to have whiscash being a nuisance to a town with their earthquakes. then an actual earthquake hit somewhere in Japan and they cut the epsode, in addition to not letting pokemon use that move in the anime again. (even though it inadvertently was in my mind a factor for why ash's torterra sucked as soon as it evolved into its final form. it doesn't win a single battle after evolving into torterra). but I understand. they were going to run a pretty cool showdown episode between team rocket and plasma in the unova anime. then the fukushima nuclear disaster happened, and they removed the episode. it would have been a cool episode, probably. and I don't really see what the correlation would be between [disaster of human error] and [episode with a fight that involves destruction of buildings]. but I understand. the choice to cut the episode or re-edit earlier episodes makes sense. nowadays it seems obvious that flashing lights would be an issue, with how many people I see posting warnings on videos with flashing lights. but I guess it wasn't as well known. porygon has actually appeared since then in the anime, unlike the move magnitude, which was only ever used once by Gary's golem, and hasn't been used once since the hoenn episode. but no, an image of porygon showed up in an alola anime episode. but you can look on bulbapedia to see porygon's evolutions, and neither of them have ever appeared in the anime. I do understand the idea, bad thing happened, it was sort of related to this pokemon, so don't show this pokemon again in order to not remind people of it. but I still sort of don't get how it makes sense to just never show these pokemon. it was only tangentially related to these pokemon so I don't quite follow why it makes sense to strike these critters from the anime. at least both have been seen in the manga

​@@akafacts I normally like goofy pokemon the most, so it's hardly a surprise that I like Porygon and it's evolutions a lot. As of my least favorite pokemon, it's Chansey and Blissey... When it comes to the banned episode there's a thing that most people overlook. A few months earlier another anime caused a similar incident, but due to being less popular it only affected around 10 kids and said episode of the anime was later edited and normally broadcasted. I seriously don't get how they could have overlooked this. Had they reacted properly with the first incident, then the seizure pokemon episode would have never happened. Frankly, I would be for editing the 10 seconds of the pokemon episode, since this is something that can easily be fixed.
