Hey Team! As you know, there are both work and rest elements to any F45 workout. We’re all very aware of the work period because those are times when we’re exerting the most effort. But have ever thought about the rest periods and why they’re important? If not, here’s a few things to remember:
• The rest periods between sets are designed to help you be successful in the workout and help you gauge your intensity throughout the class. So, it’s important to take advantage of them.
• Rest periods give your heart an opportunity to recover a bit between sets, and help keep it from spiking too high.
• They also give you an opportunity to catch your breath and take in more oxygen. This helps prevent light-headedness and muscle exhaustion.
• Additionally, those rest periods allow lactic acid build-up - which causes muscle burn - to subside.
• Lastly, even short rest periods are beneficial as they give you a few seconds to reset your form and focus before the next set.
So, team, all this is to say: challenge yourself during the work sets and make sure to take those rest periods!
