Rarity is rarity so there's no need to quibble over a couple of numbers. Where there may be a difference is that sometimes when a rare edition is announced with a planned production number it doesn't always match the exact number produced and sold.

I got incredibly lucky and snagged my E55 wagon seconds before their value skyrocketed. If you're ever in Nashville, you can do whatever you like with mine. There's another owner local who just picked up a great black E55 wagon, too. Mines silver with a few mods (63 front, tune, headers, pulley, cooling) and it's just stupid, stupid fun to drive.
@PaulieFeinАй бұрын
@AMGmeister re-watched this because I just picked up a 63 Wagon. I see over, and over again the numbers you said were imported to North America but it just seems like those numbers are echoes of previous claims with no sources cited as proof. The only concrete numbers I could find was from the MB public archives, but that lists total models produced world wide. Can you share your source for those figures of 193 E55s, and 153 E63s?

Mercs around and just before this model were junk! Paint so soft that it could have been poster paint and they rusted faster than a 1960's coke can! Some models had some brilliant mechanical designs... like no dip stick on the auto trans WTF!!!!!! Merc went to poop once Chrysler got hold of it.
@AMGmeister5 жыл бұрын
keith baker I’m going to have to disagree with that. Yes, the w210 models in the mid to late 90s did have paint and rust issues, but that was partly before the Chrysler merger. By 2003, on cars such as the e-class the paint quality was excellent. For high performance AMG models, this period was actually really good. Mercedes AMG consistently won awards for engine design and produced some of the fastest cars available. Also, the no dipstick on the auto trans was near the end of this era, around 2006-2008, and was intended to prevent over-filled transmissions.
@keithbaker34055 жыл бұрын
@@AMGmeister I have had mercs in the past and was looking at some second hand mercs around 2010 and I can assure you that I have seen plenty of rust blister in the wheel arches and bottom of the doors...said to myself f*ck them and bought a jag! The best "modern" engine merc made was the 1800cc...as for the V8's they had chocolate cams, I have fitted new cam sets to at least 7 V8's. Like BMW mercs have a perceived level of quality that has little to do with actual quality! Never mind about how great AMG's are....If you don't believe me here is a KZbin video that backs up just how crap a merc can be!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ3NaGVracyCrdk

@TheAlanFish5 жыл бұрын
One item that is worth noting for anyone considering an E55 Wagon. I've recently discovered that the wagon, while awesome in many ways, does have one rather annoying flaw. There is absolutely zero aftermarket suspension support for them, so you are stuck with the Airmatic system, seemingly permanently. I just started getting the dreaded "Visit Workshop!" message on the dash, and had originally planned to go to a BC coilver setup rather than repairing the Airmatic. Didn't realize that the rear suspension is different on the wagons, and as they are so rare, nobody has bothered to design an aftermarket suspension system for them, at least as far as I can tell. So, I'm stuck fixing the Airmatic system I guess.
@andrewfraser86152 жыл бұрын
How much was the fix. I just got a wagon, haven’t had any issues yet (knock on wood) but want to be ready with preventative knowledge if possible.
@TheAlanFish2 жыл бұрын
@@andrewfraser8615 In the end I went a different direction, but I would not recommend it. I pulled all of the air suspension and went with BC racing, as I found out they could do a hybrid kit to fit the wagon. Unfortunately, the front dampers failed twice in the first year, 4 in total. Unfortunately the rear air springs crumbled when I pulled them off the car, so I was looking at quite a big bill to go back to factory airmatic as the car would have needed all new rear springs and dampers, and a new compressor. Repairing air suspension would have been about 1800 Euro if I did it myself from the start, as it needed rear dampers (600 euro each, only available from the dealership, and failure prone due to inadequate cooling) and a new compressor at 250. Throw in new shock mounts etc and 1800 is a good guess on what it would cost. Problem is any one of the air springs could go at any moment and they are nearly a grand per corner. In my case with 2 of them getting damaged coming off the car, I couldn't go back to factory without major expense. As a result of all of that, I am now in the middle of a rather unusual upgrade. I have a specialist building a custom one-off kit for the car based on Ohlins dampers. Fronts are done, but rears need finished up and unfortunately my guy has hit a wall of customer demand due to his only employee being called back to military service because of the Ukraine situation, and the motorsports season being in full swing at the Nürburgring where he's based. If I had to do it again I would repair the factory parts. However, that's mostly because unfortunately I won't be able to keep this car more than a few more years as I can't take it home to the states when I head back home. I'll be in a better handling and more reliable ending spot the way things worked out, but it wasn't cheap.
