one thing i really like about the movie and don't really see anyone mention is how jeff and jigsaw are very similar in character, both lost a child and neglected their loved ones, falling into a wish for vengeance. Jigsaw is torturing a guy basically for being the same as him, and ended up dying at his saw (lol)

Love your analysis on Amanda. Lots of people seem to miss the meaning of her character. She really is just an exploited and abused woman that can't claw her way out of her trauma no matter how hard she tries, groomed by a sociopath who uses an almost fatherly role over her to his advantage. She's turned violent and unfeeling because of him, and is pushed to the breaking point.

I understand why Jeff doesn't spring into saving them immediately, but....... even people you absolutely hate don't deserve to die in these ways, that's what for me is the infuriating part of Jeff's character. Especially for the girl in the freezer trap, he needed the key to continue on himself anyways, even though she didn't come forward about the incident that doesn't mean she deserves to freeze to death. (There were also many things Jeff could have done that even if your freaking out you'd be able to think of such as putting your coat on her or around her or using the coat to block your cheek from touching the bars and then give it to her after you free her) Sorry I know a lot of people hate on Jeff and i'm not helping that but from a strictly human level even if its someone that murdered your child that doesn't mean they should die by having all of their limbs twisted around completely one at a time. (I am really tired right now and wording and formatting is hard so sorry about the paragraph not being easy to read lol) Anyways I do love Saw 3 even though it sounds like I might not lol, Great Video again!!!!!!!! 10.5/10, will watch again :)

you're 100% right, jeff is just selfish, and out for revenge against those who have wronged him. realistically, it's unfair he's being tested here, but he does himself no favors by acting as he does. also, thank you for watching and leaving the comment, even in a sleep deprived delirium :)

But... Thats the WHOLE POINT OF THE MOVIE. And im pretty sure PLENTY (not all and the movie has another parent not doing that) parents in those situations would react like Jeff or worse (and the fact that he always reacts the same way is a flaw in the execution of the movie perhaps, but not because of what you say). I really like youre interpretation of amanda and her charecter this is HER test, HER arc, HER story. She is not but an aprentice that has gone ary but someone escaping the clutches of her tormenting absuser. I always kinda thought the series was tragic because my interpretation is because its a man whos idea tk rehabilitate people through exteme means had been twisted by people he failed to pick that would change his intetions to peverse and twisted means to their own guro fetish. Even later down the line with logan and shank, ten kinda made me hate this film cause that made this movie feel unusally cruel and bizare, but through this lens and only this lens is kinda empowering in a weird sort of way? Amanda breaks down but through a sick and tragic way.... Escapes psychologically, in the most tragic way. Ik the critirsizm of the franchise being mysognistic (the 7th one being the worst case) but i never really saw that until now... That isn't just a minor thing.... The elusive beauty of this franchise is alot is open to interpretation and theroies unlike any other seiries of films which makes me happy, not only does it enlighten people to the beauty of these films but also a little insight on the people and their thoughts too!

Whereas the chains are grounded and realistic enough, at least to me, that something like that could happen. Now could someone pull their jaw off and survive, I have no clue.
@austinluther58256 ай бұрын
@HazmanFTW No, that would be impossible to survive. You'd die of the blood loss in a minute or so. What's also interesting about that particular placement is how difficult it would be to actually pull off. The bone of the mandible is pretty strong, so what would need to happen is the ring would need to be pulled with enough force to rip apart the ligaments connecting the mandible to the skull as well as all of the surrounding skin and skeletal muscle. The only way I can see that happening is if Troy stood on the chair, jumped as high as he could, and angled to land on the floor on his back. That would provide the necessary force to rip his mandible off of his skull. There are so many details about that trap that guarantee Troy's death. The door could have been wide open, it doesn't matter. He had no chance to live.

I always disliked Saw 3 for multiple reasons. Firstly I expected it to continue Eric Matthews story and was unpleasantly surprised when he is thrown to the side. Secondly it’s the one that gives the franchise the reputation for being nothing more than gore and violence. The gore in this one is significantly increased from the previous two. I remember being covering their eyes in the theater, something that did not happen in the previous two. Lastly I hate Jeff as a character. I didn’t feel any sympathy for him. He’s a sadist who allows Timothy to be tortured despite Timothy not intentionally killing his son. He has an evil inside of him that Adam and Gordon didn’t have. I was rooting for Jeff’s death the whole movie and yet when it finally comes in Saw 4 it’s so anti-climactic.

they're all fair points really, by this point john has certainly lost much of his way from the beginning

Another thing I dont agree with is that "jigsaw morality is a hypocritical excuse to watch people suffer like him". What "morality"? He only choses people that do not value their lives and criminals (convicted or not) while giving them a relative chance to survive and be reborn through suffering (very old storytelling). There is nothing hypocritical in his philosophy, only in him denying being a killer (which he kind of doesnt do, really, its just semantics). In my opinion of course.

but he himself is a criminal, bringing in the hypocritical aspect

Absolutely love your exploration of Amanda's character, including your discussion of the patriarchal context and the consequences and hopelessness that come as a result of long term, systematic disempowerment at the hands of one's oppressor. Great commentary
