One of my favourite things about the saw franchise will always be the blood drives. They do them for every film, originally meant to simply be a cool promotion idea that ended up saving hundreds of thousands of lives. For Jigsaw they even had the blood drive nurse photo shoot be full of LGBT celebrities (including drag queens and youtube Glam and Gore) in order to protest discrimination against queer people donating blood. We love horror franchises that use their impact for good

I saw it at the cinema when it first came out. I’d waited a long time for a non-supernatural, non-slasher horror; Saw (and other films such as Hostel) came along at a time when stories about torture at Abu-Graihb and Guantanamo Bay were regularly in the news, and the film marked a transition into a new form of body horror that was genuinely disturbing and not merely an arrangement of jump-scares.

It’s so original and makes me miss original horror movies so much. Great video. Only critique I have is that shotguns (especially those loaded with buckshot or slugs) would be incredibly effective at the range used in Saw. If nothing else it would DEFINITELY slow him down significantly if not just kill him outright. So that aspect of the movie is wrong but in the opposite way. I apologize for nitpicking, though, regardless if you were just joking or not.

I remember the first time I saw Saw ‘haha’. I was in sixth grade at Matt Luke’s birthday party. Him and his ‘girlfriend’ Erica Parsons were at a rocky point in their relationship at the time. And they broke up at the party right before we watched Saw. It’s like 12 of us in the basement , lights off and Saw on the old school big box TV. Erica was sitting right by me. We held hands thru the whole movie and when it was over she was like ‘omg Warren what the frick’ hahahah. Then after that is when the strobe lights came on and as a sixth grader that was the coolest shit ever I remember Erica acting all crazy in every strobe she was looking at me getting closer and closer until she was right in my face then we kissed. Her and Matt were back together by Monday. Thank you Erica. Thank you Matt. Thank you Jigsaw. And Matt’s mom was pretty hot too. That was a good Saturday

I’m sorry but stop perpetuating this notion that “cheap jump scares” is still a significant pattern in today’s horror movies. That’s not true. I’d say that kind of thing died off at least 10 years ago. I’m not saying movies still don’t use it-It’s just not to the degree that it used to and even then, that was in a short window of time from the late 90s to the early 2010s. We’re in a very different age of horror right now.
