10:13 I completely agree. It has its moments, especially in the apartment section, but silent hill 2 isn't trying to be the scariest, it's trying to be the most psychologically impact full. It's tense, it's depressing, it's beautiful in its utter tragedy... it has its place as one of the unique original quadrilogy

I do find it interesting that James never introduces himself to Maria. But she refers to him by name at the end of their first encounter.

Nice review again. Interesting that you didn't really touch on the puzzles, which were interesting and probably more challenging than those of the first game. Of course, the psychological horror story is brilliant. Much of the distorted sound towards the end freaked me out to no end late at night, and the flashback to a 'conversation' between James and Mary that you have to wait at the lift for to get the whole thing, is really unsettling, with Mary going from antagonistic and unreasonable to begging and vulnerable.

Oooooh nostalgia hitting me with that PS2 sound when you turn on & hit the menu. Silent Hill 2 had an awesome story. Just hated them PS2 platinum cases 😅

yeah silent hill seems to be a franchise thats only getting more expensive to pick up regardless of the game

Great review man. I've never played any of the Silent Hills. Not sure if I ever will cause I'm a scaredy cat. I just finished RE7 in VR and it took a lot out of me :)

The voice acting was deliberately off, everything is done on purpose in this game. It’s very cleverly made - a masterpiece

Something I always wondered is the Japanese voice acting any better, is the English VA bad or was it made like that for a artistic reason, like how anyone working on these games didn't notice or care that it was bad. Often I heard that it was just Japanese director that didn't speak English that was the cause of these.

It's a shame Silent Hill has veered further and further away from what made it the phenomenon it used to be- Silent Hill 2 has stayed with me and I can't even say that it's even particularly 'fun' to play but it's so damn compelling, weird and other worldly and not many games have had that sort of impact since.
