Many families feel they are often near crisis point before they receive any help from social services, but a project is trying to address this by embedding social workers into educational settings.
The trial, involving more than 150 educational institutions across England, is exploring whether this method of identifying pupils in need of help can reduce the number of referrals of children into care.

@oleggorky905 Julie’s experience with social services was not great. This family never wanted anything to do with social services or with a social worker. Her experience changed under social workers in schools - SWIS. What we do within the SWIS is direct intervention with children, young people and families without much protocols, but child and family centred approach. The challenges people experience are not ‘black and white’, they are real, some are only felt and SWIS is there to firstly acknowledge the reality. The project aims for early intervention, to prevent children from coming to the attention of social services, reduce the number of children going into ‘Care’ of local authorities and support schools regarding management of children’s behaviour within schools and homes to prevent and / or reduce school exclusions.

The UK is too darn expensive even for most Americans, especially London! Been there, done that! Terrible! They still built an expensive ship when the money could have gone to better uses.
