Anger feels an awful lot like justification for some people...

I have felt significant anger all my life. A few years ago I was in a course on anger and I said this out loud to the room and the instructor said "that's unmet needs" which really hit home. I was raised in an alcoholic home and my parents did not have the capacity or the tools or the time, to meet my needs. I am learning to reparent myself today and give myself what I need. Anger can still be a reflex though. Thank you Theo.

SOME PEOPLE THINK it gives them more power and control , but in reality it just drives others away

I love that Theo is learning more about psychology and behaviour, I can hear his vocabulary and attention improving! This knowledge is the foundation of a deepening empathy that can be put to good use in serving the people eventually.

I came to realize that anger was my biggest sin. After the realization, I became hyper aware of staying in control of myself. Anger drains you of true joy. Nothing, is worth losing my joy. Let it go.

Excellent topic. .. My dad was a civil/structural engineer. And I remember him mentioning a business 'wheelin and dealin,' perhaps trader young go-getter guy, that did deals, for materials for their civil/structural engineering firm.. 🤷🏼♂️🥰. He cried over 9/2001.

Most people who “ love to be angry “ is only when they don’t feel any consequences back and ironically hate other people like them who also “ love to be angry “ 🙄😂

you can be an angry person and still be a fun hang, especially if you hang with other angry people. It's just another emotion, and if everyone is used to that emotion being the dominate one, no one holds it against you when it spills out; they understand, they cant control it either. just like people who accept each other when they cry, there are people who do the same with rage. see the construction industry for more details. It's filled with angry folk who, pretty much, all get along with another.

I totally get what Theo means here. I had terrible anger issues as a kid and now as a mellow adult when I do get angry it feels nostalgic and kinda, extra therapeutic. I sometimes look up bad news just so I can feel a rush of red flowing through me.

I think from childhood abuse, dysfunction & neglect i've mostly grown up with heavy inner fear/shame/anxiety (i know other kids have had FAR worse than me fyi). Being smaller stature and very conflict avoidant which isn't good when other kids & teens are looking to establish the pecking order and who's acceptable to bully. But whenever i did finally stand up for myself it was with a non-controlled, almost psychotic emotion and that loss of control terrified me .

Makes sense what you said. Don’t overlook how dysfunctional school is growing up though and how it creates all this fake pecking orders as you say.

How about people who justify their anger and behavior by saying they are (fill in the blank ethnicity)? This does not make any sense to me. I have a strong suspicion that lame excuse wouldn't fly if they were in front of a judge. Yet, the romantic partner is supposed to be okay with them being a jerk. They repel people.

Anger is a personality trait… really??? There is no personality protocol that has ever identified anger as a universal trait that we all have more or less of. An expression of emotion related to the uniqueness of one’s personality is very different than calling anger a personality trait!

I couldn't disagree more. I hate anger. I hate being angry. Angry all the time. It's negative. Men use anger for every emotion. What the guest is talking about is controlling the anger and using it as fuel. That's a different thing. Most men arent like that. Anger can consume you. It's a surface emotion for underlying trauma.

My sister and I both have some pretty bad anger issues. Hers are worse than mine, she’s the type of girl that’ll get into physical fights or cuss out anyone who crosses her wrong. Im just a hothead in certain situations, it’s hard for me to let things go if someone cuts a line or does something disrespectful / rude in public, etc. I can fly off the handle sometimes. It scares me and makes me not trust myself.
