Hey guys! In this video I talk about why the CARINTHOSAURUS was cut from The Lost World: Jurassic Park...if that animal sounds similar to the name of a dinosaur called the CORYTHOSAURUS it should! Because the screenwriting seems to have made a pretty big mistake in that department. Now Parasaurolophus would ultimately take over for what the dinos role would've been in the movie...but there's still some evidence of the mistake in merchandise for the 2nd film. This mistake would ironically be repeated 20 years later with the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018! Making this a pretty ironic situation! Hope you all enjoy! :D

Poor Corythosaurus got so shafted that her name got mispelled, haha. And I always was confused as a kid by that Elvis nickname! :P And yeah I don't really mind goofs and find them more amusing than anything detrimental to the film's quality. You know what other movie had a ton of goofs? Jaws. Only one of the greatest movies of all time and I even like it a little more than my beloved JP.

I only found out about the Corythosaurus being in The Lost World after watching Shinobi’s response to NC. I never knew it was originally meant to be in The Lost World. Speaking of Sinoceratops, I always wondered why Mattel gave that name to the wrong animal.

I too have found it odd why the Corythosaurus wasn't included of the stampede scene of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. However, the Corythosaurus was included of the stampede scene of Jurassic Park III (3) as well as Jurassic World: Evolution.

I think it is crazy that we have the internet at our fingertips and they messed up on the names. And even without the internet, they have plenty of dinosaur books to tell the correct spelling

In universe, I see this as the fact that Ingen was getting overconfident and was doing less and less research on the dinosaur breeds they were making. Simple carelessness that would lead to their downfall. Even Jurassic World, they mentioned was open for a decade, but suffering from ticket sales. Keep spellcheck every "asset"," right? That and some dinosaurs, aside from us in the know, do look similar for "normies" not to be able to tell the difference. =P

Imo they should have made the mistake very visible, kept the Corythosaurus in the game trail scene, and later had Sarah point it out and Ian follow up by commenting about Ingen not being able to spell or pronounce the names of the things it created. Would have been a nice callback to the original JP novel because if I remember right Ian made a similar comment about Wu or someone else having trouble with pronunciation.

I’m not sure if this counts as a goof but In the scene in the lost world were the dinosaurs are freed from the cages at the ingen camp, you can see the rest of the metal frame work of the triceratops head that rams through the briefing room. I remember seeing it when I was a child even and wondering if there was something wrong with the movie.
