@@albevanhanoy He said he will respect constitution and that basically means "I will respect parliament decision". He obviously try to salvage situation by inviting government party leaders to talk, but nothing more and that is exactly what he should do. President has mostly ceremonial powers (but still has some priviledges and powers if necessary like dissolving lower chamber, veto for legislation - can be outvoted by lower chamber, etc.)
@dairebulson7122Ай бұрын
@@albevanhanoy Pavel isn't really in much of a position to do much? His position as president is largely ceremonial, and associated with executing constitutional procedures, not establishing policy. I suppose he's free to express his opinion as much as any Czech citizen, but overly-partisan statements could be seen as interfering in politics in a way the president typically shouldn't. Pavel's predecessor, Milos Zeman, was also quite upset with SPOLU-Pirates-STAN defeated the previous ANO-CSSD government, but there wasn't much he could do about it.

Czech here. I can assure internet that yes, it sparked many, many Pirates of the Carribean memes. More context: The regions were never Pirates' most strongest suit as they lack prominent leaders. Apart from Bartoš and minister of foreign affairs Lipavský, they have serious PR problem. Fiala was generally considered as out-of-touch professor who is weak, but fair. So when he did this, it sparked fury from even those who never liked Pirates' to begin with.... and definitely hurt his "fair" PR. And who knows how strong you seem when you kick dead body. The next elections will be horror. We have so many options, and they still suck. It is kinda impressive, actually. ANO will win, the only question is if they secure majority. It is one-man-party and that man is one of the richest men in the country. He uses the political position to enrich himself, and has money to by the best people for PR. ODS with Petr Fiala is buddies with lobbyists over the past 20-30 years, but gained popularity after strong anti-Babiš sentiment, which is basically the only card they play with. KDU-ČSL are basically catholic conservatives who know very well that thes ceased to exist without ODS (ehem, ehem, atheist country). The same can be said about TOP-09, except it leaned more liberal. Starostové faced corruption scandals, but they were playing it lowkey. They in fact made coalition with Pirates' before, and got preferencí al treatment from elder voters, leading to first Pirates fiasco. Those five created the majority, and will continue to have it without Pirates. But they continue to be more unpopular by day. Then you have others, extremes or dead parties. Left leaning ČSSD was once a big fish alongside right leaning ODS. But populist ANO used them as a partner and then stole their voters. Zelení... lol, nope, the eco-boys Always barely scraped 5%. Communist party has a very minor boom with its rebranding "It is enough", referencing the governement. Then another one man party Přísaha, to some the big saviour, for others another populist pile of nothing, for others meme party. And then, you have right extremes, SPD and Trikolóra. That is, what, twelve parties? And you still feel like you are not choosing lesser evil, rather in which lion's maw you will put your head.
@dankoval4297Ай бұрын
Hey fellow Czech citizen. I totally agree. It is like that meme where Americans hate one party and fanboy for other. Meanwhile Europeans have like 20 parties but their are all trash. And I am saying that as ODS member (who is so disapointed from the party and is considering leaving).

They have many politicians who are visible, Schillerová, Havlíček [Havliczech :D] or Nacher. And I agree with your desription of ODS and other parties.

As a Czech. 35% win for ANO is missleading. Prague, 12% of population didn`t vote in those elections. Other parties were in local coalitions. So if all that would be counted, there will not be a that big difference between those a past elections. ANO is on 30% in 2024 up from 27,12% in 2021. But they sucked votes from Czech SPD fearmongering imigration. Slight 1-2% voter change is not worth DRAMA title. Bartos resignation was tied to digitalisation of building aprovals, not election. This video is so wrong. I always watch TLDR until it is about something I know, than I realise how inacurate it is. Stop watching it for half a year, than give it another go again. Happend 3rd to me.

I mean, that was the reason given by Fiala. Today, the UN's International Organization for Migration claimed only 90,000 have been displaced in recent days - which would only increase the total displaced in Lebanon since Oct 8 to about ~200,000. Greetings, I’m from the Czech Republic, and I have a few comments regarding the first message. The Czech Republic is not in crisis; only a small progressive party, which is part of the government, is in crisis. That government could function even without it. Yes, the current government is facing a problem with the growing support for ANO and its leader Babiš (something like Netanyahu in Israel, or like Fico from Slovakia, if he weren’t pro-Russian and was a capitalist). The Slovaks are facing a far worse crisis. As for Bartoš’s dismissal, it was to be expected; he messed up a lot, but Fiala didn’t handle the dismissal well either. Either he couldn’t muster the courage during the meeting, or he changed his mind afterward. In any case, Fiala is criticized for not being able to dismiss Bartoš personally. Bartoš was already on thin ice within his party, as it’s shifting more and more to the left, towards Marxism. And that’s a problem in the Czech Republic because liberal voters don’t like Communism at all, and Marxism is the same to them. That’s why the party started losing votes, but they blamed Bartoš for it. However, Fiala’s dismissal of Bartoš angered the Pirates, and they ‘declared war on the government.’ They want to move into opposition against the government, but I think this will be the end for that party in the Chamber of Deputies, as similar parties have been here before, and they also didn’t succeed. Who will come out of this situation as the winner and who as the loser? The losers are the Pirates and Fiala, but surprisingly, the winner is Lipavský. He will probably leave the Pirates, and as an elite diplomat, he has open doors in any party. Another winner is Babiš, who is perceived more humanly by the people.
