Great analysis. I bought my manual 997.1 turbo at the beginning of 2020. It will stay in the family for ever I hope. One point I would like to make is that the 997.1 has the Metzger engine which was developed for racing and is bulletproof. It also has heritage. I think with time this particular model will be the one to beat.

I just bought a 997.2 turbo manual Black with 50k miles in excellent conditions. This model very rare will be at double price ( in 6-7 years) than today if you are Lucky enough to find one for sale... it is the best 911 turbo you can buy today even better than 993 turbo as reliability is also very important factor to make it collectable for a car like this

I think there is also a side effect which helps to sustain the prices at this level, which is the fact that new car models are more and more expensive, year after year. I am not only talking about Porsche, but the overall car market is driven since ten/fifteen years by a constant increase of prices. If you look back in 2005, the high-end model of Peugeot family car war sold out for 33k€. Now, the same high-end model by the same manufacturer is sold out 15k more. It is even worse for Porsche : a 997 Turbo started at 139k€ in 2007, and now a 992 Turbo starts at 188k€ . I am not saying is the same car, just comparing the prices of two "high end" versions of a cars. And electric cars increase this trend. So it is logic that a 2007 used 997 Turbo, in 2021, is at a higher price than a brand new 5008... Especially when your are a sport car buyer, and not driven in your thoughts by the fancy 10" screen and the drive-assist packages. During decades, until the mid-2010s, you could buy a 911 for 20k€ in France. It does not apply anymor since then, where the entry ticket is around 25k for a 996, and will never drop below 30k for a 997 I guess. I cannot see the 997 TT falling below 50-55k€ in France in mid term, and I would say that it will stabilize around 65-70k€ in a ten years time horizon. Pending the future regulations that for me are the main risk, and the most difficult one to assess now, as there is no stability (I could drive my 996 until this year in Paris, I cannot anymore from 1 Jan 22 so for the 997, it will come soon...).

The 997 is the ultimate 911. Not the "fastest" but just PERFECT, analog, size, enough power and LOOKS. It's also a DRIVERS CARS so the MANUALS are priced right as automatics are truly a sad (but faster) solution that changed the market for the 911.
@blackbeastsquad9943 жыл бұрын
Great video!! Love the price driver breakdowns, very helpful. Would it make sense to give some additional breakdown in the video (e.g., table) on what drives this (if black is better than gray, what is the best? How does it evolve over time? - if there is sufficient data, of course)? Next video ideas: - Mercedes GT cars incl SLS - Alfa Romeo Giulia QV (Has it bottomed?) - Update of the "cars that make you money" video

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. To do a more detailed breakdown we would indeed need to have a bit more data. Nevertheless, it's a good idea for a future video to see how the colors affect the price.

The engine in the 997 is made out of very expensive metals. If we would make one today with same metals the car would have to cost 500k. You can tune the 997.1 to 1000 hp because of it. But get your wallet ready, this is a true rich boy toy.

Please make another video about the 997 market, im in the market for a 997.1(2005) base, its tiptronic, and right now its going for $35,900, and still its looking like the car isnt hot, it has been on the market for 55 plus days and has seen a price drop of 1000 dollars, maintaining low buzz on all the major sites ( only 13 saves on cargurus), do you think it would be reasonable to get this car for 27000 because that is what im willing to pay, i saw your video about how prices may have peaked close to a month ago, does that hold true?, or are prices on the increase again, specifically for the 997.1 automatic segment?, i would really appreciate an updated video on that, you have no idea how much it would help, either way, i love your videos!

Think the 997 will be the next 993 in terms of attracting demand. It's truly one of the best porsche models ever, the last analog porsche, and has a timeless design. (Also predicting that the 996 and the 991 are going to go down as the worst models. The 996 is just too ugly and they screwed with the steering in the 991 and also made it longer but didn't really make it wider like with the 992 so it's dimensions are off. they also added turbos for all the .2 versions and you couldn't get the turbo with a stick).
@iluvcakes192 жыл бұрын
GT# 991 cars are and were amazing but yeah everything under that is kinda meh. Still, I prefer the entire 997 range over the 991 and 992, except for the Targas.

You are not taking into consideration the original production numbers… only 488 .2 manual cars were produced and they are the ones pulling the market up followed by the .2 S cars…. Most people don’t really understand that .1 and .2 cars are significantly different internally but look the same. .1 production was multiple times more. You should consider taking the .2 car and analyze on its own.
@fourwheeltrader3 жыл бұрын
You can see the difference in price development between the .1 and .2 at 06:24 . As i highlight in the video, the manual .2 is so rare that there isn't enough data to split the .2 market by transmission type. This rarirty is already reflected in the price as the .2 and especially the .2 manuals go for a premium.
