'Justice League' should've been a much bigger deal than the 'Avengers', but with no proper buildup of individual characters and then the heroes becoming a team it was a rushed mess of intros. The debut of DC's Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman instead of being a fanboy's wet dream was instead a limp and impotent nightmare of disappointment. 'Batman v Superman: Yawn of Injustice' also was spat on by including a 'fight' as defecated onto the comic page by Frank Miller. We don't need a director's vision; all we need is for him or her to keep their sights on what's already predetermined and spelled out. Just bring the damn comic to life, don't give birth to an unrecognizable and deformed character.

@@deancafe4739 The thing is Carol Danvers was a supporting character in Marvel comics for ages but she was not the first even Marvel Captain Marvel. I"m not going to go into a major expansive history lesson but the original Captain Marvel came from Fawcett Comics in 1940 with Billy Batson now know more as Shazam. Thanks to legal actions DC took they were able to wind up suing Fawcett over aspects of Captain Marvel being too much like Superman which wound up getting them taken down and the Captain Marvel name for a while being available to use. Marvel wanted their own Captain Marvel character so created one in 1967 Marv-Vell who wound up not really popular and dying like a decade later. The thing is due to Captain Marvel only being a trademark Marvel could keep if they had a Captain marvel in some form kept giving that tagline to various other people over the years (including Monica Rambau) before it eventually fell to Carol who was more known as Miss Marvel/Binary before her Captain Marvel rebrand in 2012. So yeah the yeah the Avengers movie came out is the year she was officially Captain Marvel but was more popular then other Captain Marvels thus a big reason she wound getting her own movie in 2019.

@@John-ri3be "superman was the only invincible man" That's actually a larger problem not just for the DCEU but honestly a lot of DC adapations that really don't understand the characters or the DC World. The thing is that yes Superman IS obviously insanely powerful able to pull off phenomenal feats and hell if you actually READ the comics it's even more absurd then a lot of what even the movies and shows pull. But the thing is Superman isn't in say a Dragon Ball esque verse where he's always constantly the top dog hero at all times and finds a way of training to overpower every major arch villain; The other main members of the Justice League are SUPPOSED TO BE THAT SAME LEVEL! LIke Aquaman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern in their own way are at that same absurd level of strength and power and can keep up with the man of steel. And thanks to his genius and gadgets and tech so can Batman. And the reason that's interesting is because a lot of the big major villains are also on and stay at that level so there is an actual CHALLENGE in defeating them and conflict when they clash. Like for whatever reason a lot of adapations either weaken Superman or just have the others just feel less powerful and have to do something else when like no they are ALL supposed to be around that level of power. I know Superman is like one of the most well known super heroes and beings in fiction but he wouldn't have lasted so many years in pop culture if he wasn't challenged in some way so ignoring others cause they're "lesser known" even though they're supposed to be at his level is silly.

"Superhero fatigue" is bullshit. The problem is they've been trying to churn them out so fast that they've neglected the process of crafting a decent story first. In DC's case, the DCEU also suffered from severe mismanagement and a constant changing of the guard. They couldn't agree on a direction and were too focused on beating Marvel at their own game rather than putting in the work to craft a world that could truly rival it.

I didn’t see The Flash in theaters but when people put it on social media, the CGI effects were very laughable. Lots of people were going all in defending it or tearing it apart. I’m not really a DC fan but I only watch their movies because of the actors. I’m a fan of most of the actors but some don’t know, don’t care. By far, the only DC that I actually really like the most is also probably everyone’s favorite……JOKER. I wonder how the DCEU would be if the legendary Christopher Nolan directed the newer movies instead of Zack Snyder or James Gunn or any other director. Some of these directors or screenwriters know what they’re doing and some just don’t. I really feel like superhero movies are on the verge of dying cause they don’t even know what they’re doing anymore. The MCU stopped being after Spider Man No Way Home or after the Infinity Saga has ended with Avengers Endgame. I’m not really into the Multiverse Saga that much but I’ll see what happens with RDJ as Doctor Doom. I hope that, with being desperate and bringing back RDJ as Doom, would save the MCU or just end it. I’m having mixed feelings about Joker Folie à Deux cause it’s gonna be a “musical”. Even with Joaquin Phoenix coming back as Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, I hope it’ll be good. I also believe that WB dropped Justice League WAY too soon without a proper introduction to a big bad main villain. I’m not even sure if we need anymore superhero movies. Cause if these future superhero movies are good anymore like they used too, then it’s time to put away these tired old franchises. Both the MCU and the DCEU.

Two words. Dwayne Johnson. One of Johnston's demands was that his version fights Superman rather than Shazam. Which is why they brought back Henry Cavill in the post credit scene. Johnston's ego was that Shazam was a joke and Black Adam is so powerful, only Superman can match him. So it is all Johnson and WB kowtowing to him, instead of reigning him in.

The biggest reason for the failure of Green Lantern was because Martin Campbell only wanted Bradley Cooper for the lead role. When he got Ryan Reynolds, minimal effort was put in to do the film. And, as Reynolds put it, when problems arose, instead of sitting down and thinking things through, scenes were shot and reshot.

Film viewing and enjoying is a subjective art. I thoroughly enjoyed Black Adam, Blue Beetle, and The Flash. Black Adam was a very fun and entertaining film, Blue Beetle was a solid job on an obscure ask. As far as The Flash goes I understand what Ezra Miller did to kill that film before it had it's first preview. If you're capable from separating the actor from the character to enjoy f'n story and the other actors then you'd find that its actually a pretty good film.

Fact is, they tried too hard to follow MCU (interconnected universe). The most successful DC properties during this time was "The Dark Knight" trilogy, "Joker" and "The Batman" which were standalone films, which no connection to anything else.

Marvel is the only company that has had success with a cinematic universe. Maybe the exception of Episodes 4,5 and 6 of Star Wars when there was no term "cinematic universe" and then Disney promptly destroyed it. But DC has missed the mark nearly every time and now I think the superhero genre is fading. The best - Iron Man franchise and The Avengers. IMO

If thats Good and you have the right actor/actresses in it and the director who understands what the fans want it should be a hit .but if thay change the script in mid production its going to end up a mess or dont get the casting right and there chemistry between the cast members the fans can see it on the screen and it offects the flow of the movie

JL,BvS,BA and a couple others were not great, but at least watchable. The problem was the stories were flawed. Black Adam had the Justice Society backing a dictatorship and fighting BA when he tried to fight for the people. Not a good look. Hawkman and DR Fate were good but Giant Boy and Twister were forgettable.

The Flash’s target audience didn’t grow up with Keaton’s Batman, so they had no attachment to him. Fans lost interest in the DCEU after Batman v Superman and Justice League, so they’d rather wait for the movies to be released on HBO Max. James Gunn’s rebooting the franchise, making all the DC films that came out last year pointless.

I may be an idiot, but having seen some of these movies, the plots were just bad. The character motivations were terrible and the character motivations were barely there. Shazam's sequel, by the way, was not about marketing. It was awful because the script was - awful. Wonder Woman (first film) was predictable and functional. That's it. We had decent character development but not great. The final act was painful as it came out of nowhere. The sequel was just plain AWFUL. I couldn't get through it. Doesn't anyone care about writing anymore? Doesn't anyone know how to write a character that I care about? My humble opinion. Start with the story and characters. Make me care about the main character. Give the character internal motivation - not external. Go from there. Just my opinion. Please no flame wars.
