Left out the lakers wasting Bron and AD, 2 top 10 consensus guys who are still productive and high impact but with a bad set of players around them, and made no moves this offseason (“bUT tHeY GOt bROnNY”). You can blame LeGM for blowing up the 2020 championship team if you want but 4 years later the front office has failed to provide a group around Lebron and Davis that have a legitimate title shot since, despite both being individually excellent.
@willingexile33745 ай бұрын
LeBron still flexing this offseason, getting his buddy hired as head coach and securing a guaranteed contract for his son. AD joined the Lakers to team up with Bron so that's on him. No one will be ever "good enough" to be a sideman for LeBron and if the Lakers win, these guys will hardly get any credit. Lakers FO not pushing back hard enough so they are complicit. I say they are reaping what they have sown.

@@camishonna Not really true. Last year and the year before (after Westbrook) most analysts really liked how the lakers looked on paper. @ernestz.92605 ай бұрын
@@wg5331 they are a decent team that if they get favorable matchups can make it to round two or even the conference finals. Problem is that stops there because LeBron runs out of gas and he needs to pace himself in these games, and two their backcourt of D’lo (incredibly inconsistent) and Reaves is really bad defensively and gets targeted a lot. The rest of their players like Rui and Wood aren’t bad but their BBIQ isn’t great. Lakers have potential to be a good team but not great or contender status or anything like that. They were around 15th and 16th offense and defense respectively (or the other way around) with pretty much the same roster.
@wg53315 ай бұрын
@@ernestz.9260 That’s a fair assessment. I really wanted to see Wood go. Out of their entire roster of guys who play, he’s the one I distrust the most. He plays like he’s “that guy” when it’s obvious he’s not. The other guys at least know their roles. I don’t mind Rui or Reaves at all. I think theyll continue to improves, especially Reaves. Only thing I disagree with is Lebron running out of gas. He will if he’s ran into the ground over 40 mins but it wasn’t common enough last season for it to be an issue so to speak. D’Lo was better last postseason but the Lakers need that consistently like you said. Again, I wish they got rid of Woods and maybe play Hayes more if he’s gotten better.

In regards to Detroit, I think there’s probably a decent chance that the new front office doesn’t really have faith in many of the players drafted by Troy Weaver; they’re at the very least not as committed to them as Weaver would have been as the guy who selected them; so they could potentially be thinking of getting rid of guys like Ivey, Thompson, and Stewart in the long run anyway so drafting Holland is done pretty much independent of those other guys who appear to overlap with him since they might be gone soon.

I personally think the Warriors will be somewhat better next year, I think the Warriors will make the playoffs but not likely to win the West. GSW's 'moves' forced on new GM Dunleavy was to let Klay and CP3s massive salaries go, getting the Dubs out of the luxury tax top tier. Warriors have some promising young players in Kuminga, Pods, Moody, TJackson-Davis. It will be interesting watching the young career of Quinton Post, rookie and at 7 feet the tallest player on the team. He looked pretty good with the developmental squad this summer, Santa Cruz or Chase Center? Can Klay's shooting be replaced by Buddy Hield and/or Lindy Waters, both great outside shooters, at a fraction of the cost? If I could characterize the rest of the Warriors in one word - Versatile. They've improved depth while saving salary.
@ernestz.92605 ай бұрын
I agree but if they can get a serviceable stretch big or a decent front court player in general their chances will definitely improve Moody and Post I don’t think will be factors, the former might be traded and the latter is a two-way who might get garbage minutes The season hinges on JK Podz and TJD, as well as Wiggins getting back to form, Draymond staying on the court, and Buddy Hield being a supersub from the bench, as well as whoever else they decide to get

By the time LeBron might leave, AD is reaching mid 30s with no signs that his injury history gets better; usually players who age get injured easily. Plus, what DO the Lakers look like in 3-4 years without LeBron? Are they going to compete for titles at that time knowing the window of younger teams (Houston, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Minnesota, etc.) are right in their prime? Can AD be the focal point to stop those teams while he's in his mid 30s?

I understand that the Lakers were ultimately the 7th seed and made the playoffs and ultimately lost to the Denver nuggets in 5 games in the first round but all the milage and minutes that LeBron James is playing in the regular season and playoffs at some point when is it going to catch up and also adding the fact Anthony Davis playing 76 games. I just feel those two guys got i set the tone because I feel like if either one of those two guys miss any significant amount of time particularly in a tough western conference they definitely will be in trouble. The last thing is the lack of three point shooting LeBron James shot a career high 41.5 percent from three and we will see what Dalton knecht does but if he and LeBron are your two most consistent three point shooters than that is concerning adding bronny also to the mix along with JJ Reddick and they're in a really tough sports if it doesn't work out.🏀🤔

THEN,I ask myself WHY hasn't/isn't the Warriors putting the pieces around Steph Curry to insure his future success? To continue Steph's "storied" legacy? WHY? It makes NO sense what the Warriors did to Klay Thompson and it makes absolutely ZERO sense what the Warriors are doing to the great Steph Curry. NONE. UNLESS, the crooked, all powerful, powers that be, are orchestrating a new narrative. Planted seed, "Steph Curry needs LeBron James". 🤔 Unless they are trying to orchestrate a new "history making" trio, Steph Curry, Draymond Green and LeBron James. So Klay HAD TO GO. How did that big move work out for Milwaukee. No one wanna comment about how that big move worked out negatively huh…. Sometimes people just want to make a move just to make a move. Silly concept. Either your guy just needs a slight upgrade at a role player spot or maybe he just isn’t that guy
@willingexile33745 ай бұрын
Warriors gambled on a two-timeline strategy and drafted the wrong guy for their team. Doubled down on Poole and then gave up on him so quickly. Klay leaving could have been avoided, but they chose what they thought was right for the team because they are mired in salary cap hell. Bucks with the genius move of getting Jrue, but maybe should have thought of moving Middleton or Lopez (or both) instead of letting Jrue go. Move for Dame is on the clock, chemistry issues should have been ironed out by now. Hawks and Pistons FOs need to retool their roster-building strategy. LaVine can't stay healthy, so that's on him, and with new cap rules no one wants to take a risk on him. Butler finally being called out for not being more effective during regular season. He may need to re-think his status as best player on the Heat, he can walk if he wants after this year but it will be tough to have what he had in Miami elsewhere.

I think the Jimmy Butler strategy was working. The fact that he could elevate a low draft pick to become title contenders is something special! Jimmy and Bam had no help aside from Tyler Herro (overrated tbh). The team is significantly weaker without Jimmy. I don't know who would take Jimmy's style at this point in his career. Maybe OKC? Maybe a 2 year contract with the Warriors or Spurs?
@willingexile33745 ай бұрын
Jimmy missed 20% or more regular-season games during his tenure in Miami. Whatever he does well is negated by his lack of availability. Regardless, he is worth every penny based on the results they got, considering what value teams got for underperformers such as Ben Simmons or Tobias Harris. Bigger problem is the Heat overvalued their own young talent and now few teams want them without adding picks. Only contender who can accommodate Butler will be OKC, but do they need him? Other contenders are capped out or won't part with players they value. Jimmy won't do well with a rebuilding team. Miami can gamble with trading Jimmy for LaVine or Ingram, but that won't make them any better. Best bet for Jimmy is bet on himself and play himself into the new contract.

I don’t feel any sympathy for Steph AT ALL. If he was the leader you sell us he is Draymond wouldn’t have acted the way he did. AND does he make his teammates better or nah? If it was Bron or KD everyone would have much more scrutiny….

Sounds Like espn all over again wanting Giannis to leave Milwaukee again
@ellieswagaye5 ай бұрын
giannis literally can't be the second best player anymore after someone else has clearly shown to take that top spot (luka, he led in every stat last season then finished above both jokic and giannis in the playoffs) jokic moves down to 2 and Giannis to 3. Its okay, these are all the top players of the nba regardless, the list is probably interchangeable.

the fact that Giannis is still the "young" star on his team (with Dame, Middleton, and Lopez being their next 3 biggest names) is not a good sign for him, especially having lost Jrue obv (even tho he's also older lol). If they want do a relatively almost seamless rebuild like the heat, thunder, celtics, warriors (altho they had 3 core players instead of 1), they would be moving those old assets for young assets, be they players or picks, to build around Giannis. They could use Giannis to vault them from success in the previous era to success in this next era since Giannis will still be in his prime for a few more years. But I think they're gonna white knuckle it in win now mode with this core since Giannis is good enough to make the team a contender as is (in the east at least). Giannis being able to carry them to the 2 or 3 seed in the east could be the worst thing for both him and the bucks. But who knows? With very good luck (especially injury luck), they could very well win another and make it all worth it

As a Bucks fan, I just feel like our chances to win the finals are slim with the east being better, I hope Giannis don’t waste his prime with no long term direction to take him in the finals run couple of years ago.

All I got from that is that they’re ALLLLLLL overpaid and consequently you can’t build around them. I mean, Steph might not be bc he’s easily the best player in this list and the absolutely most accomplished. However, Bam is NOT worth 55 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR. Zach isn’t worth 48M PER YEAR. And finally, Dame and Trae have ALWAYS been defensive cones. Damian hasn’t been electric in AT LEAST 5 years. I don’t know why anyone thought he was worth what they traded for him. Ppl saw that and immediately thought nah we don’t want Trae. I do feel sorry for BI & Cade though.

@seanbell695 ай бұрын
Miami just needs to blow it up. There is still value on the team, and it is possible to draft players that are talented and have the intensity they are looking for. Letting Jimmy age out and holding on to Bam cannot work, Bam is honestly just not good enough to be the best player on a championship team.

Why would they get rid of bam
@seanbell695 ай бұрын
@@alexescutia4805 Bam is in the middle of his prime right now. His max trade value is right now, and there is zero chance that Miami is going to add another superstar free agent to pair with him.
