The general absense of Duros in non-movie content always puzzled me, since they were described as the 2nd most dominant speicies in the Republic after humans.
@Meravokas
@Meravokas Жыл бұрын
In numbers they were for a time, but by the 'old republic' era (4k BBY) to the days of Russan, their numbers were far outstripped by humans and some other alien species. Once many of the primary hyperspace lanes had been discovered and fewer and fewer lesser ones being desirable or taken up by other species, the Duro fell out of the public eye as they once had and many mid rim species and cultures began to swell in numbers on the galactic scene. On top of that, as the Nemoidians started to get deeper and deeper in the less tasteful realms of commerce. Many couldn't tell the strict difference. Nemoidians actually being an offshoot species to the Duro (Many Nemoidians after and even normal members of galactic society outside of their territory did their best to pass off as Duro to escape the hatred, distaste and otherwise general dislike towards them.) as their role in galactic society dwindled, so did the high numbers outside of Duro space aside from wandering explorers or those simply enjoying making jumps from system to system.

Oftentimes it’s the more overlooked cultures that provide important knowledge and wisdom that gets taken for granted. Both the case in Star Wars and in the real world.

While humans may have dominated Republic history, it's species like these two that helped the Republic be as strong as it was in their early years. It's great learning about some of the lesser known alien species that had some of the greatest impact in galactic history. Hope we can see more lore videos like this in the future.

It’s important that, when watching Star Wars, the aliens don’t feel like they’re just there, especially when the MCs are Human. The two aspects must feel like they’re apart of the same world on an equal level. That’s one thing that makes Star Wars: Not focus, but the big picture.

Just wanted to say thanks for having such a great channel that focuses on Star Wars. Too many channels content creators with vast knowledge is a Star Wars get to tied up in arguing the politics around Disney and anti-wokeness. I know you probably have views on this but I am thankful that you balance it. Keep up the great work.

I wonder if the Caamasi experienced absolute hell under the Galactic Empire for their ancient friendship with the Jedi and how their culture existed as a pacifistic one. In fact, I wonder if and how they were targeted in general by dark forces like the Sith.

Literally a few months after Palpatine declared himself Emperor, the Galactic Empire bombarded the Cassmasi homeworld. This led to most of that planet's surface becoming inhospitable and forced the Caamasi survivors to move to worlds like Alderaan.

Thank you for this video. I was well aware of the non-humans who were recognized as one of the contributing Core-Founders through Wookiepedia. The Core human worlds remind me of the Western developed countries in our world. The Duros were kind of like the Japanese who are not really considered western but is a highly developed civilization that are acceptable by western standards! Despite the Duros being a Core Founder I did read they still received less favorable privileges during the Imperial Era and was consolidated within the Corellian Sector giving them less autonomy and representation since Corellia was the capital member world for the entire sector. I really like when you said “The Corellian 5 became a astro-political entity..” Corellia has always reminded me as a parallel of the United Kingdom/British Empire especially since the UK 🇬🇧 is comprised of several constituent nations similar to the 5 habitable worlds of the Corellian System. Not to mention the discovery of the Corellian run which brought many planets into the Republic similar to how wide and expanse the British Empire was globally during its peak!

I know you’ve done many videos on O66, but I’d love to see this explained, especially because I’m writing a story during the clone wars without inhibitor chips and I need to know how to explain it.

I think the Caamasi actually caused one of the greatest (long term) problems in the galaxy. The relations between the greater galaxy and the Jedi were ones that the republic could call on, and the Jedi tended to accept. However, upon the solidification of Jedi as an arm of the galactic republic government. The will of the Republic became an guiding hand to the Jedi order and an ever more pressing one as time went on. While supposed peace keepers, and negotiators. As well as able to stay out of larger galactic affairs such as wars. (The war with the Mandalorians being a prime example of a will of the council to not get involved.) The longer the Jedi sat with the Republic, the more willing they became to take on roles that the republic saw fit. And outside of the sith involved conflicts, became ever more embroiled in more bloody galactic affairs. Twisting the jedi code ever further to one of restriction and dogma that became complacent even before the Russan era. Seeing a tighter control of their own as the only way to keep a resurrection of the sith from returning. As well as the original drive to utterly destroy the sith. Which the old order would not have wished. Knowing that balance in the force means light and dark. Not the prevailing of one or the other.
@levongevorgyan6789
@levongevorgyan6789 Жыл бұрын
But we saw what happens when the Jedi ignored the Republic, twice: The Mandalorian wars, and the Pius Dea. The Republic needs Force Sensitives, not only to protect it in ways only Force Sensitives as well, but to help guide the Republic with the will of the Force, the will of Life.
@Meravokas
@Meravokas Жыл бұрын
@@levongevorgyan6789 The problem when a 'religious order' becomes part of the government is what we see happen through out the history of Jedi after being 'drafted' as officially a part of the Republic proper. The Jedi never intended themselves to be warriors in all but the most dire of situations. If it was the will of force to bring about the fall of Republic to the subjugation of the manadlorians? So be it. In every major conflict that did not involve the sith that the Jedi were pulled into once being integrated into the Republic, furthered them away from the balance they so wanted to achieve. Things within the order becoming stricter and stricter to try and go back to minimizing their role as peacekeepers and negotiators. But it was within the power of the Chancellor for force the Jedi to participate. Being advisory rather than tied directly to the Republic would have been the better option. The decimation of their ranks from the war with Revan and subsequent awakened a brewing hatred for sith that ended with Genocide. Aided by the Republic after absorption. Does that sound like the Jedi way? And a guiding hand to the Republic... Sure. Even at the height of 'public power', Jedi were a rare and sometimes still mythical 'things' outside of the core and conclave worlds. They guided the hand of the Republic in no meaningful manner. Also the Pious Daea rampage? That **Was** The Republic, under any other name. It was put down from within.
@levongevorgyan6789
@levongevorgyan6789 Жыл бұрын
@@Meravokas Okay, but those problems in history exist because those religions are not provably correct. The Jedi are provably right. The Force does exist, and does have a will. It would be like if say the Dao was real and Daoist Monks could do all the magic stuff they do in Chinese folklore. When faced with that fact alone, a government needs both protection from those that misuse the Force, and guidance in regards to the Force. Also, you are getting the timeline wrong. Revan was born centuries after the decimation of the Sith. It wasn't a battle hardened, broken Jedi order that destroyed the Sith Empire, it was the noble, idealistic Order of old, lead by heroes like Odan Urr. And it's been retconned that the Sith destroyed themselves, at most the Jedi committed cultural genocide by destroying or siezing cultural artifacts of literal dark power.

While the Republic started out good, its territory becomes too large to govern. No amount Caamasi and Jedi are enough for the Republic to help maintain the stability of the massive galaxy, excluding the Unknown Regions. And this is why the Republic should politically remained at just the Core Worlds and the Colonies. Yes, I know some planets within the Core Worlds and the Colonies do not wanted to be part of the Republic. So yeah, let them leave along with the rest of the Outer Rim. And since it is a big galaxy, what's wrong with having a number of nation states and/or multinational states governing the known galaxy?
