Such wisdom. Thank you, Jennifer! I will have been an empty nester for one year come March. I feel like I am still recovering from my hectic homeschool lifestyle of my 30's and 40's! Putting myself last really took a toll on my health. I am so happy to see younger women recognize and be able to articulate the need for self care and boundaries! Thanks, again!

Great ideas, Jennifer. As a middle school teacher, I operated in time blocks for thirty years. Now that I'm retired, I still build a daily schedule for myself. Sometimes I can still hear the bell ringing to tell me it's time to end one "class" and transition to the next one.

My kids, by the time they were10, did their own laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, and helped with kitchen clean up. They were terrible at first, and I had to monitor everything they did at first; however, they quickly learned to do those things quickly and easily and I had less to do. I hope your kids are doing a lot around the house.

Yes! I've noticed that when I don't set boundaries and prioritize the entire household feels less peace. Since I am a homeschool momma, I have noticed that when I show my children that I respect myself enough to focus on the task at hand, but quit to transition to rest or another task, they see that they have permission to do the same. It brings a sense of calm overall.

I love these videos. I have ADD and I am 60 years old. I am on the keto diet(eating apx 50 grams carbs for the day) because c.vid gave me some health issues. Ketovore controls it. My husband eats what I make…lol. He’s okay with it as he eats what ever he wants throughout the day. There a lot of heavy lifting going on as I travel to and from our local farm to the basement. 😂 Anyway, you mentioned something about how we as woman think or feel we can do it all. I’m up around 4am and work straight through until 2-3 hours after dinner. I’m starting to have trouble keeping up. I love painting, playing the piano, writing poetry, and reading. When I was younger, I was able to do these beautiful hobbies, feeding my soul and still keep the house at the ready in perfect order and functioning. My wish is for all of you to enjoy the time that you have, even if it’s one moment to be aware that you are breathing. And all of this I say because I need to do this.

This is really helpful , because I have been on my own journey of embracing time blocking (I’m a big Cal Newport fan!) and I really struggle with transitions as well. It is hardest when I am doing something that requires a lot of concentration, like writing, and I hate to stop. I’ve gotten so mad at the way I let everything else go that I say to myself maybe I shouldn’t do those things I enjoy because they derail my home life, but you are encouraging me to try again to just become more disciplined about it so I can have each thing in its place.

It’s easy for me to time block at work, 8-5 because my work, breaks and lunch are scheduled. Time blocking after work and the weekends was and is still a challenge. Journaling definitely helped make my plans and schedule a little more clear to set aside time for hobbies, home keeping and time with family & friends. As well as saying no to things that hinder my progress. It’s still a work in progress but I’m trying to get there. 😊

I also wanted to add: I do this even on a meta-level with standing dates on the calendar to block off time for investing in relationships that are important to me. My bestie and I have a standing Wednesday evening date once a month, a brunch once a month, a happy hour every two weeks with other friends...... I always joke about how this would make me seem rigid and cold if I were a character in a book, but in real life it ensures I have time carved out for things that are important. Having to do work to opt out is a way to making sure it's a high priority and not just a wish that I never execute on

So good Jennifer. I too struggle with stopping the “flow” when I’m doing something - at midnight, totally not practical - I was printing homeschool resources and enjoying doing planning sheets etc and today I have been tired the whole day and utterly regretting not being disciplined with stopping when I told myself I would. Transitions is a good point and I would love to learn more about how to do those!!

Jennifer, what a blessing you are to me. To us! Grateful for these reminders of keeping healthy boundaries in place and the ideas to apply. My dragon is the places in my home I am still overcoming clutter. I have such victory in the main areas and a system that works. But I am challenged by the areas where I still need to declutter highly emotional items from my past work of 40 years overseas. Identity is still involved. Plus additional work to face from my folks home since their passing. I am grateful for Dana K. White’s method that helps remove the emotion. Jennifer, your wisdom about dealing with this dragon will hopefully give me added strength. Putting a tiny block daily on my calendar for these tasks. Surely I can do this!🌺 Thank you, you are graceful and grace-filled!
