Nah, that's Orsola Aquinas. In show, she understands better Jesus message and teachings than any other member of the Catolic faction, and almost died for it. Touma encompasses more what Aeon of Horus mindset means. "Don't search excuses for your actions (Accelerator wanting to be a villian in order to do something, Fiamma wanting to be a Messiah to "cure the world"). Take full responsibility for the outcome of them".

Touma is the very concept of savior complex. He just saves and forgives people because he can.Nothing more , nothing less

I've always thought that most shonen and light novel protagonists are somewhat coocoo in the head, but Kamijou Touma is legitimately insane. I think he might even be worse than Emiya Shirou. At least with Shirou, he got a wake up call from Archer and how messed up his ideals are, and even in UBW Shirou acknowledges that his ideals are just ideals. Touma? Touma's ideals are too pure that nobody can call him out on it. Unlike Shirou's magnanimous idea of "saving everyone", Touma's is a simple "no one is beyond saving". He's not gonna go down an Archer-like route because of how simple his ideal is, and because no one can really say he's wrong, no one can call him out on the insanity that he does in practice of his beliefs. I'm honestly impressed how Kamachi can make such a psychological misfit work while still portraying how insane his disposition is (not even his other protagonists are as unhinged as Touma).

I always saw Touma's kindness and ability to believe that everyone has a second chance as subliminal ways of describing the type of series that Toaru and its concepts are. For example, we know that one of the most discussed concepts is Thelema. "Do what you want, for everything must be the law" ~Aleister Crowley Touma was written based on this phrase. He does what he wants without caring about good or evil, he is not bound by the moral sense. Thelema = Will This reflects the Esper power system where the Espers are just imposing their own will on the world. Touma is like that too, a selfish person who fights not to protect the whole world, but to protect the world around him, his personal space. That's why he can't ignore it if someone is asking for help in front of him, at the same time he's not the type of person who sees a war on the other side of the world on television and runs to help. "Everyone has the right to live by their own laws" "To live where they want" "To say what they want" "To die when and where they want" ... ~Aleister Crowley This would practically put any human being on equal footing so Touma seems like true equality. There is no saint, everyone has made mistakes and been selfish, but if every person had to die for their mistakes and selfish desires, then humanity would no longer exist. That's why Touma, as a way of showing equality, chooses a side where EVERYONE lives, where everyone has the right to a chance at redemption after paying for their crimes (yes, Touma doesn't ignore the possibility of jail, and that applies to himself also ) BUT as the world does not revolve around Touma, as he is only +1 out of 8 billion, Touma is only saving the people who are around him, in his field of vision, in his social cycle because that is the only space in the world that he can dominate. But as his friend Tsuchimikado drags him to all countries, Touma ends up gaining connections and bonds all over the world, his personal space is expanded and more people enter the category: "What is important to me". I liked when Kamachi quoted "He who protects the treasure" describing the meaning of the dragon in Christianity when Touma became a dragon in NT22 reverse. The world around him would be Touma's Treasure, and to protect that treasure, Touma is willing to trample on honor, justice, and morality that he never cared about. We also get into the question: Does every bad person HAVE to die or be arrested? Is she DESTINED to die or be imprisoned as a form of karma or justice? This seems more like a happy fantasy, but the real world revolves in a balance of good and evil. There are so many people who were killed but the police never arrested or killed the killer (Jack the Ripper for example) in other words, just because you do something bad doesn't mean something WILL happen to you. unfortunately the world is not scripted. This would serve as justification for having so many villains running around in Toaru even after their plans failed. It's not just Touma who is letting them go unpunished, it's the narrative itself that is trying to convey a cruel and disturbing reality where his daughter's killer is on the loose, going to the mall and eating in restaurants normally.

It was this approach that broke the robot (invincible) because the responsibility for the crimes no longer exists

I think Touma just completely views himself as an imperfect person that he strives to push his enemies to be better than him, while not liking the idea of holding grudges.

Most people have begun hating characters who will not kill and/or forgive people that cause great suffering like Superman, Batman, other superheroes Charlie from hazbin hotel and of course Touma. But those same people completely missing the point of why these characters acted like how they are. It's really a part of their own character.

This is a really important concept for people who decide to experience Toaru need to understand honestly, Touma is a commentary on what going far for these ideals can do for the better for others while also representing the dangerous parts of toxic heroism. It’s unfortunate that Touma’s characterisation and depth is butchered in the anime, his memory loss is incredibly important to his philosophy but Touma’s inner anguish from it just isn’t seen there. I never felt Kamachi was ever simply trying to preach through Touma but rather show a singular point of view from a person with incredible resolve who suffers from a warped view due to his experiences and yet does his best where he can. I always found his interaction with Birdway in NT6 to be a uniquely interesting way of showing what Touma is all about, with him in ideological conflict with someone who wants him on his side without real malicious intent. Great video!

Poor Touma has never been the same since the memory loss. I really want to see how has morality compass would be once he gained his actually old memories back. He is most definitely always over the top with his rationale of forgiveness and trying to not kill anyone. Logically illogical and fanatical sometimes. Burt tat truly is what keeps us coming back and rooting for him. Some people are irredeemable yet he always seems to find a way to make the impossible possible when most of us would be... nope. I had to wait a couple of days to even get to watch this and it was worth it. Great video as always. I am already a member here and of the of the wonderful Holy Toaru Gospel... I am saved! What I like about Touma forgiving nature is that Kamachi keep it consistent throughout the series. For example in GT 10 Touma constantly expressing regret on how he cannot achieve the future where CRC and him can laugh together which is pretty crazy and sad at the same time.

Well that's a loaded question I've only thought about, what really is his limit that he'll calm down, reflect and still not forgive.
@alyseleem26927 ай бұрын
That's the beauty of it: He has no limit. Not because he's some infinitely forgiving person, no; it's because he WANTS to save people. This isn't him doing what's right or wrong; this is him giving in to his most selfish desire. No matter how terrible, how horrific, how conceited they are, Touma's first instinct is to save someone. Not because they deserve it, but because he can. Not because he has to, but because he can't imagine doing anything else. This is him. This is who he is. What he does. And he loves it. All of it.

He tried to strangle Aureolus, but he realized he couldn't. Though... uh... Touma decided not to use his... uh... "hidden trick" anymore? I mean, it could still happen on accident (like 90% of time it occurs), but this smells like a plot turn...

i think you've misread him. he's not strictly good. he's not trying to forgive people. he doesn't think he has the right to judge or punish people. what he's going to do is force them to harness their powers to help others. this is not merciful. how much does accelerator suffer because touma didnt just get revenge and kill him? atonement - and using your power to help others - isn't something you force on someone you have only goodwill towards. it's simply that touma doesn't want to pass judgement on others, so he's going to let people pass judgement on themselves after making them understand what they've done. it's a deeply lazy way of thinking, almost a dereliction of duty, and it betrays a lack of confidence in his own moral compass, but that's just how it is.

I am so confused. Was Fiamma trying to replicate Noah’s flood or the birth of Christ? All the things in the show point to the birth of Christ (star of Bethlehem, Gabriel, etc. his speech about how Jesus’s birth saved the world so he was going to replicate it to have the same affect.) but you say Noah’s flood every time you mention Fiamma. did I miss something or is it a mistake? Saying Noah’s flood kinda vilifies him more. I thought the plan was to replicate Jesus’s birth to save the world but the only flaw was that the influx of thelesma would kill a bunch of people but Fiamma saw it as a necessary sacrifice. I don’t think he was actively trying to kill everyone. I might be wrong though
