Why TWEWY Took so Long to Get a Sequel

This video took so long to release because that was actually a meta-representation of the wait for NEO. At least that's the excuse that we're using.

It's fun to see a history-of-the-fandom video from someone who wasn't there for most of it - I mean that completely earnestly. I always find it fascinating how quickly people can get roped into something's hype machine. That original countdown left me a husk of a man who wasn't willing to get excited for anything ever again, so them trotting that out for the NEO countdown was maybe the funniest thing that Square has ever done.

I think Random ALSO forgot one countdown timer too.... wasn't there one for the Official Sound track release? Maybe we're just all in the UG and those timers are to remind us that we lost.

I only saw the animation, but I have to give the team at SE a lot of cheers for never giving up. I love that they said hell no we aren't going to let it die, we love the work we did on the first.

Part of me wishes that I got to be a part of the fandom earlier (I played both games a few months after NEO’s launch). But at the same time, with the rollercoaster of emotions that’s come with the TWEWY fandom starving for something new, maybe it’s a good thing that I’m relatively newer to the series.

I only had a passing knowledge of twewy thanks to their cameos in KH but it wasnt until final remix that i actually had proper interest in the series so imagine my surprise when I found out the rabbit hole that is the buildup towards the sequel. Between hype chan, brand new day, solo/live remix and the anime afterwards, it definitely was a wild ride.

I had no idea that the TWEWY website was a thing until like this year, and I've been into TWEWY since 2019. So when I saw that Square uploaded the trailer for NEO in 2020, I thought it just came out of nowhere, but I was still just as hyped. But I am glad that Square is trying to make the series more known and accessible because I want more from this series. 😭😭😭

I saw an ad for the switch port once on KZbin because apparently that was a thing. I only ever knew about this game from the switch port so it worked somewhat.

Quoting the video of KH4 "You've been asleep for the las 7 days", and the connection between KH and TWEWY: I know it is nearly impossible, but what if the next instalment is a prequel to KH4, or linked to those 7 days mentioned somehow. We kind of know that Sora is in what appears to be the "real world", making emphasis in "appears", since TWEWY's version of Shibuya appears to be the real Shibuya, but it's not (eg: 104 -> 109).

It's like they wanted us to REALLY FEEL the existential dread of the game... I don't think they should use game symbolism on us in the RG. D:

Writing is honestly pretty fast to do, it tends to be why programmers think they can just write stuff for games without hiring writers and then we end up with badly written stuff :'D So its not super surprising they had time to add more lore tidbits
