I think the reason that rebound relationships are becoming increasingly common over the past years is that now we have social media and everyone has access to it, and this makes it easy for the rebounder to show it the other person that they are in a relationship and make them jealous, because the only purpose of the rebound relationship is to be able to show it to the other person one has broken up with.

There's a study of Brumbaugh and Farley regarding rebound relationships. According to them, "To understand rebound relationships, it is important that we also understand how they are being developed, in which obvious reason, is the breakup from a previous relationship. Breakup is usually a distressing and upsetting event a person may experience in life. The person may go through a period of grieving, in which they may experience anger, sadness, anxiety, and even loneliness."

I wrote a tonne of emotional emails and texts over the 5 weeks since our breakup and that was a mistake, I know. I would get little to no responses, and it sucks when you feel like you're the only one who cares. Yesterday, I told her that out of respect for her, I will not reach out again, but I will be here down the road, if she wishes to have a genuine conversation about what went wrong. The ball is in her court now...

@@mollymc great thanks... I removed the ball from her court, and I wouldn't go back with her now if she was the last woman in the world lol. Time is the best way to heal... Time enabled me to look back at everything, and it suddenly became clear how emotionally abusive she was. I'm kind of embarrassed that I let someone abuse me like that in the first place, but I guess I was confused... all good now though. Thanks for asking. Hope you're well.

My ex gf left me in December 4th 2020 for a another guy. Since then I reached several times between December-February. I’m not even sure if she’s still dating the guy she left me for. We dated for 13 months. At this point I’m not even sure if I should reach out to her again. What do you think? She dumped me. I was loyal and loving and emotionally supportive to her. Maybe I was making myself to available for her. Maybe I should have played it cool with her and not be so available for her and wanting to spend time with her. Idk anymore

My ex broke up with me 3 weeks ago. She said she is too busy right now, since she has 2 jobs and is going to school. We still talk regularly because she wanted to be friends. I've checked out your ex solution program, but I feel that's more for people where they were kind of the problem or did something to cause the breakup, and I'm not saying I was perfect or anything but that's all she told me the reasoning was so I have to take her word for it I guess, do you think that program is still worth it to get? I want her back, but I'm not sure any program can help because this is something her and I can't really control. She is going to be done with school in about 7-8 months and will likely leave her jobs for a job in her field that she's studying in. Idk if I should do active no contact or to keep talking to her. I feel like I keep talking to her to hope that after she's done she'll want to get back together but I'm not sure if that's even a real possibility or not lol

Hi Andrew, going through 2 jobs and meeting the demands at school on top of a relationship can cause some stress to the person. Is your ex still receptive when it comes to communicating with you? If yes, just be mindful not to add up stress on her as she will put her walls up. Before deciding to get into one of our programs, be sure to know your goals and what are the things that you wanted to achieve by taking the course (aside from getting back together). Then try to match your needs to one of the courses that we offer.

We broke up 6 or 7 weeks ago. Our interactions are good but he is still hesitant to meet in person because he's nervous. We have discussed the breakup and why it happened. I've tried to go no contact but we always end up messaging eachother. He still doesn't think he wants to get back together. Ive been doing major self work regardless. Should I try to restart no contact for a full 30 days still even though there's been progress? The longest we've gone without chatting is 2 weeks.
