You should definitely try dumbbell shrugs while leaning forward. That way you're hitting the middle of the trap. And it's way more effective for growth than face pulls.

My favorite "trap" exercises are heavy single arm KB swings or heavy DB snatch. Great content 👌

Dumbbell upright row upper trap neck and side delts. Wide and close grip dumbbell or use an ez bar

I like hang cleans since it keeps me humble which allows me to maintain consistency.

Damn guys. This couldn't have come at a better time. My neck and shoulders are all jacked up. Been slowly getting back into working out and have started with bands. Will definitely work these into the repertoire.

Farmer carries are exhausting but awesome…I use wrist wraps so I can go further when my hands start to fail, traps will be on fire

Don't need 400 plus pounds on shrugs to develop the traps. Full range of motion, especially elongating the muscle under load, is the way. 225-315, controlled eccentric and concentric and constant tension on the trap

TRX Y’s also a great trap builder. I feel they hit the upper traps a bit more than the face pull.

How about a shrug on a shrug machine or dumbells? The shrug machine has two forward facing bars you can hold onto.

its just not something I program, I completely understand that some guys love them and they may work for you and I am sure if there is access to it at a gym once in a while the guys might jump on it but not something I am programming because of how many times I have had a guy have an issue from it

I’ve been out of the gym for about 4 months since having a bad IT band issue from training for a half marathon. Will jumping into this program be too much volume to fast?

If you find movements that are not the best for your current issue you can work around those movements to receive the benefits from everything else. There is a free seven day trial if you want to see if it fits your needs

Don't ego lift. Problem solved. Use full ROM and weight you can actually manage. It's just a little discipline

I stopped doing barbell shrugs because I feel other movements work the trap better with less weight.

Maybe don’t throw 405 on a barbell try dumbbells so you can pull at your sides not bent over🤪
