Its really hard for me to feel rage. I cant show it to other people, because i have this fear of being bad for them if i show it. Im afraid of doing " the wrong thing" or hurt someone be yelling at them or by saying something mean

I got a slight back pain a few months ago that worsened now. I can't move anymore without extreme pain. If I didn't ignore that feeling of pain back then, maybe I wouldn't be in this state today. And I got that thought that feelings work the same way, they're here to signal your mind that something is wrong and you gotta pay attention to that. Just like pain is your body telling you there's something wrong so do feelings

My mom had me convinced not to have or act on feelings. It’s taken year. And I’m in my 70’s! I still feel guilty when I have strong feelings!

Some theraputic mindsets work for certain people, while those same mindsets could be damaging for others. It all depends upon your personal goal for seeking therapy. Unfotunately it's easier said than done to figure out if therapy is working towards your goals. It might be helpful to bring up your question and concerns to your therapist, because sometimes therapists need to gather more information before giving guidance or treatment, and some therapists have to adapt to the patient's situation and change their approach.

Kati, I appreciate your service to humanity, but I sometimes wonder if you ever have any fun, or enough fun. This is your life's work, but it might be good to have a good belly laugh! I speak from a similar driving burden of trying to help folks too. This is not a criticism.

I have to intellectualize my emotions, because if I don't maintain some level of detachment, I'll probably kill myself.
