Did you know there is a place in Mexico known as the Hamptons of Mexico?
But it comes at about a 1/10th of the cost of what living in the Hamptons would actually cost you.
I'm talking about #Valledebravo and it is as charming, exciting, and beautiful as they make them.
You'll find great coffee shops, high-end furniture shops, art galleries, gourmet restaurants, and trendy bars-yet Valle de Bravo retains an old-world charm, through its cobblestone-lined streets and colonial buildings. It's a nice mix of the old-world charm with the modern amenities.
If you want to visit Valle de Bravo and meet with our local relocation expert, check out our COMPLETE Mexico Relocation Guide.

Well, it's hot in the summer and humid at most beaches, but people get aclaimated to the weather. I'm a smaller man and I notice some larger framed or bigger men don't do as well in the heat. Cloud cover and ocean beezes help a lot; also, it's the rainy season during the summer and that helps, too. Some residents stay in Puerto Vallarta and, then, move to Guanajuato for the summer months, but I like the summers where there's less tourists and you can still enjoy the massive infrastructure as well.

What I like is the lake, trees, and forests! It's gorgeous! Who would have thought it would be this fertile this far south - the obvious advantage of living at high elevations!!! :)

We visited Valle de Bravo in February - it's a beautiful spot, and the people were really friendly and helpful, especially tolerant of my moderately OK Spanish. Thanks for some examples of the cost of rentals in town as well. It seemed a bit more expensive than places like San Miguel de Allende, but it feels like there are a few more amenities in some ways, so that's a worthwhile tradeoff. Great footage and great information. The tourism is driving up the prices, but it's also affording more amenities. I definitely recommend the museums and the centro as well. All in all, definitely a place to return to.

Thanks for watching! It may be slightly more expensive than SMA but the difference is you get a lot more house for your money, with a yard, and clean air. And it’s not as busy as SMA

@@dennishassler605 Thanks for the insight Dennis. Even though I am a scuba diver / snorkeler I am amazed by people who want that beach or hot environment year round. Not me... It is so easy and inexpensive to travel to a beach/warm place within Mexico anytime why would anyone put themselves in that more expensive (Tourist pricing and AC electric bills) environment. 24/7 ?

Thanks L.J., but I'm in Phx. Az. where it's 104F and in Puerto Vallarta it's only 84F. When in PV there's cloud cover, rain and a sea breeze, so it's not too hot. If there's a day w/o clouod cover, I walk less mid-day and walk more later in the day when the sea breeze comes in. And during summers, it's only a short ride to higher elevations with cooler weather. A friend has a ranch high up and he said not to visit him unless you bring a jacket, because it's so cold in July and August due to elevation.

I also do not find tourist pricing to be a problem, because I'm a bit outside the immediate Malecon area - when in Mexico, live in the barrios where pricing is more for local people and walk to the Malecon. In crowded tourist season, I'd avoid being on the malecon and I prefer neighborhood places w/o tourist pricing. I love certain places where I'll pay more - $6.50 US gets me a meal that'll last the entire day and that incudes the tip in the most popular breakfast rest. in PV - AND the best part is I can bring my dog with me!!!

@@dennishassler605 Sounds like we may have been separated at birth. Barrio the only way to go. I always cringe and am perpetually amazed when I see people who paid for the $2K US a night Maldive over-the-water villas when they could have stayed on one of the quieter islands for $30.00 US a night and not been "gauged" at every turn. Same ocean, same snorkeling and diving too. Less up-tight people as well. Cant stand to be around the classic ex-pat boozer/restaruanters either. Give me locals any day of the week. 😊

@@monicagutierrez8516 Yeah, but you're lucky to live in an area of such tolerable high temps.!! I live in Oregon and it rains a lot 8 - 9 months a year, so 3 is like going to heaven! And the rain we have is that ALL DAY DRIZZLE CRAP. Literally, we can have no blue sky for a week to ten days straight...where it just drizzles and sprinkles rain for 7 - 10 days straight and you never see any blue sky the entire time. Plus, we've had way, WAY too many 90+ degree days now with climate change. It looks like the heavily evergreen woods Oregon, but with much better weather! and around 75 degrees most of the time. Very Nice! Since you live there, where would you look for a medium sized house to buy, with a view of the lake, and most of all, a big lot for a huge garden? So many lots are very, very small. Thanks Monica! 😉👍

Valle de Bravo does look beautiful and I always like to hear of places with temperate climates. However, is all of it that expensive to live in? I'm looking to live in Mexico where I'll be able to live as close to $1,500 or less/month. I've heard it can be done, it I guess not in Valle de Bravo??? May I suggest when you feature places like this, can you also mention if cheaper rents can be had and if someone on social security might be able to afford it? That's the same as Lake Chapala, if you research where Lake Chapala's water comes from (and I have), you'll quickly find out that all of the factories upstream simply dump their toxic waste directly into the river that feeds Lake Chapala. I wouldn't think it's any different with this lake. After all, Mexico City isn't that far away.... :( That's one thing REALLY, REALLY lacking in Mexico!!! - pollution control, recycling, actual garbage service with cans for each family and a truck that comes weekly to pick up garbage, and has recycling trucks doing the same route too. Sure, there are sometimes people who come to a street corner, and people PILE their garbage there, but it's all loose, not sanitary in the least bit, and it's horrible to look at or smell...not to mention if the corner is right in front of your house! Does ANYONE in Mexico even "dream" of thinking about keeping rivers and streams, lakes, streets, empty lots, ANYWHERE, clean and unpolluted? I think not! If there is ONE HUGE NEGATIVE about Mexico, it's the garbage and lack of ANY thought of recycling, river and lake clean up, anti dumping of sewage, and chemicals into any stream, river, ocean, or lake. WTF! ... WAKE UP!!!! :( I live in Oregon, and we've had a Don't Litter or pollute campaign here since the 1960's! Recycling soon after that! I can walk down small or busy streets and not see even one piece of trash or litter ANYWHERE!! Seriously! I'm not exaggerating one bit! And, no one even things of dumping polluted chemicals or trash into ANY stream or lake ...PERIOD! Huge fines! Probably jail time too. We also have weekly recycling of anything and everything! I do NOT get why Mexico hasn't done jack shit in the way of protecting the gorgeous environment! What? Are they 100 years behind the USA? END NEEDED RANT. ;)

@@KOrnhOliO1 Thanks for your comment. Makes it easier NOT to spend my vacation in México. Had lived there (Puebla) in the 80´s. Sad to hear that - in this aspect - nothing has changed. To all others: I deeply do love "México", but it keeps destroying itself by not really takin´care for its environment. A shame. Irresponsible.

The sad truth Is our corrupt governments hand in hand with corrupt developers delivering houses and Hotels to eager visitors or expats, aré bringing Valle to an end.

Hi! Unfortunately there isn't a single city that I would say is "comfortable" for someone in a wheelchair. There are people in wheelchairs that don't leave their houses too often because many buildings and retailers aren't adapted with ramps for them. So they absolutely need someone to help them into a place. Sorry to say this but Mexico isn't the country I would recommend for someone with no ability to walk.
