If you just quickly roll onto the low back, it's gonna hurt. You have to VERY SLOWLY, starting in a seated position, roll until your whole back is around it. Then, also going very slowly, you lift your upper torso with your abs and gently rock it into the low back. This *separates* the vertebra, not jamming them. It's the best release on the tailbone I've ever gotten. It felt like the first time I ever decompressed my spine. But go slow at first, it's easy to overdo it at the beginning.

I use a 6” yoga wheel to roll my lower back. I have bad discs and it’s literally the only thing that offers instant relief. It stretches out the muscle and opens everything up. Before the wheel I tried everything! Nothing worked well and by the end of the day I would be in excruciating pain. I’ve learned a lot from Bob and Brad but I would recommend wheels to anyone who has bad discs and sciatica before anything.

I just purchased all 3 Chirp wheels which are different than a regular yoga wheel. I have had them two days and can feel the difference already. I’d agree with Bob and Brad on not using for the lower back as I definitely want to be careful with that area since the lower back can be very touchy. My main concern is an aggravating almost constant upper/mid back pain. I have used their suggestions for the foam roller and sitting in a chair with the ball behind the back which have given some relief but the Chirp has given me far more relief in just two days than I’ve had in the last 6 months from any exercise. I actually felt taller and had better posture after my first 1 minute roll on the wheel. As with any product the user must be prudent and listen to their body.

I’ve tried PT, shots, meds, exercise, surgery, and nothing helps like my wheel. Mine is thicker than the one your showing. It’s a 13 inch Nortic training wheel from Amazon. It helps me more than anything I’ve ever tried. It’s the only way I can arch my body to stretch and relieves my tight muscles way more than muscle relaxer medication. I understand what your saying, but they do make different sizes and thickness. Mine is sturdier than that and once you realize your own body controls it it’s not “tippy” 😂. It may not work for everyone, but it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made. Keep fighting the good fight! ❤ I love your neck and shoulder stretches on other videos .

I do have a lower back problem and I love my chirp wheel. Not easy to use at first, but once you get the hang of it and learn to balance on it, it's easy. For my lower back, I used the edge of the couch to slightly hold my head for neck/head support. I've skipped my last two chiropractic visits because of covid but my chirp wheel has done the job. Still going to continue chiropractic care for full adjustments, especially neck but definitely won't need to go as often thanks to Chirp.

But please do not underestimate the wheel. It can do more than simply act like a blackroll. Also, actually I feel it is a feature that it is not that stable and you have to balance it (the ball isn't, too, so both work the core nicely in my opinion). And, it is harder than a ball which gives a nice massage to the back.

I have the Chirp wheels. You can use it on your lower back. You just don’t put all the pressure on your lumbar. You use it (12’ or 10’ wheel) while sitting down at a roughly 45 deg angle versus horizontal- you shouldn’t go horizontal on your lumbar with a foam roller either.

Ever see people roll their lower back on a foam roller? Don’t do that with a roller or Chirp wheel. Sit down, and keep your body at around a 45 degree angle to roll your lower back. It works with the 10’ and 12’ wheels.

@@jobas511 sit on your butt with knees bent, feet on floor - use the 1 of the larger 2 wheels as a chair back. Lift your butt up and put pressure on lower back and roll. You're right, the yoga wheel you are showing doesn't work, at least it didn't for me. But the one with a groove in the middle, like the ChirpWheel, well that's an entirely different story. After a fusion back surgery at l5/l4 because of spinal stenosis from a paper-thin disk that was completely wrecked, I was left with invalidating pain. According to the specialists, rheumatologist, neurologist, neurosurgeon and PTs, the pain I had was purely neuropathic. They could not see any mechanical cause. After 15 years of suffering, (5 before the surgery and 10 after) I one day found an ad for the ChirpWheel. It was not available in my country, so I built one myself, around 9" in diameter. I rolled my back for 3 minutes, before I went to bed. Nothing, apart from the pain the rolling gave me. I went to bed. Next morning, I woke up - 100% pain free! I could not even remember how that felt. I remained pain free for most of the day. I did the exercise again in the evening, pain free next morning. After 3 months, I could start working as a carpenter again, which I hadn't been able for 15 years! I now can do almost everything again, save heavy lifting etc. I still get pain, but it's nothing I can't manage, and I have an almost normal life again. Sorry guys, in all these 15 years, nothing else helped. Surgery made stabilised my lumbar region, but didn't take the pain. Sorry guys, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, nothing they tried ever gave me more than short-lived minor pain relief and all specialists were wrong. The pain was not entirely neuropathic, only a small part of it was. The ChirpWheel fixed it. For me, after having tried everything I could find for 15 years, this was a life-saver. I had tried foam rollers, balls, and much more, in all sizes, all shapes, to no avail. For me, the difference is in the groove. That way there's only pressure on the muscles along the spine, not the spine itself, and that made all the difference. As you must know, every back problem is individual. My homemade wheel helps some other people, but far from all. But to doom the yoga wheel the way you do, that's rather arrogant.

Yoga wheels are great for many different things from creating safe spinal flexibility, improving posture, releasing tension within the back, opening the chest..you can instantly feel a difference in how much better you can breathe afterwards, you can use it on your arms or legs for fascial release. The wheel offers resistance and substance, a ball does not support you it sinks in. A wheel fits between the scapulas, a foam roller does not. The list goes on. Worth every penny in my opinion. I use the chirp wheel which has a spinal groove. It feels incredible along the spine. ❤️🙏🏼🌿 PS I also use it to hold my Pilates ball hehe.

I mean....cool. Yall covered every other option there is for basic stretching...but the Chirp wheels also provide the deep tissue muscle massage which is the main attraction. Simply stretching doesn't always do it and a foam roller (or even tennis ball or theracane) doesn't always work for targeting specific areas. I've tried almost everything I can find for my back issues and the Chirp wheels have been the most affective so far. Will it work for everyone and every situation? No. But don't knock it before you have tried it and have a full understanding of it's intended usage and the extent of it's capabilities.

The weight distribution is to wide on a ball or the foam roller or a flat ball.. Believe me I have used all of those methods with my broken back. Otherwise I'm stretching on the corners of my arm chairs .. and I'm tired of breaking arms off of chairs.

Serious question and personal experience to follow: the "yoga wheel" doesn't have a spinal channel (patented by CHIRP WHEEL). The chirp wheel has helped me to stop seeing a chiropractor 3 times a month for the past 2 years. I was only good for a few hours after the chiropractor. The CHIRP WHEEL releases all pressure including my neck and lumbar spine. My hip pops into place. They make 3 sizes for added pressure each roll. What are your thoughts?? It looks identical except it has a centralized channel for your spine to sit in.

You should really remake this video. You hurried in to alternatives with little talk about the wheel. I’m seeing that ALOT of people are in love with this wheel, so clearly it works. However your stating that you see a potential risk in the low back. I’m sure you could agree that HOW you use it determines what effects you get from it. Keep in mind that a person can control the position of their spine and pelvic tilt at any point Since SO many people are using these.. you need to make a how to and not to use the chirp wheel video. Use your visual aids of the spine to explain to us all EXACTLY what the spine is doing when using it both properly and improperly. And breath, take your time! You guys are talking fast like QVC channel speakers or an infomercial. I think you guys are very educated, and offer a lot of great content for self care and wellness. You were just waaay too quick at the draw in the making of this video. I hope to see you make this new video, as I am buying a wheel and would like to see this video 😊

I can only speak from personal experience and my understanding of anatomy and kinesiology derived primarily from my National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer Certification. My back pain is due to poor posture, specifically forward head posture, protracted shoulder girdle, and anterior pelvic tilt. My poor posture is a result a combination of lengthy periods of sitting and a weight training program developed by my father with zero emphasis on spinal extension or conditioning/strengthening of the posterior chain throughput my teenage years. When you place your body in a seated position, with your head looking downward, and your arms and hands extended out in front of you, for hours on end, for days on end, for years on end, the anterior (front) muscles of the body contract, and shorten, while the posterior muscles are stretched. This weakens and neurologically inhibits the posterior muscles. Adhesions (commonly called knots or spasms) form in the stretched muscles. The yoga wheel is doing two things to restore balance to the length tension relationships of the anterior and posterior muscle groups associated with spinal flexion and extension. The most important thing it’s doing is stretching the abdominals. Tight (read shortened) abdominal muscles translate into mid back pain and stiffness. Tight pecs and lats translate into upper back and neck pain and stiffness. Tight lats and psoas translate to low back pain. The yoga wheel is primarily stretching the abs and compressing the spasmed back muscles which assists in breaking up the collagen that is binding the spasms in place. It’s pretty silly to take issues with the chirp wheel potentially overextending the lumbar spine and then showing a prone press up as a substitution, which is actually a very easy way to overextend and injure the lower back. At least with the yoga wheel you would be decompressing the spine in extension as opposed to compressing in extension as you would with a prone press up. These guys are just silly and don’t seem very knowledgeable, which in my experience is VERY unusual for physical therapists.

i love your helpful stretching videos. i also love my set of 3 yoga wheels, and my shiatsu back massager. i basically need all of them in order to function. I've been dealing with back pain my entire life, starting with a tailbone injury as a kid. Don't know if it was just bruised or cracked or what, because my parents never took me to the doctor. The pain from that radiated into the soles of my feet until adulthood. Then, a botched epidural at 27 with my first baby has left my back in knots ever since. i feel like a slave to my back pain because i have to spend so much time stretching and massaging every day, just to get up and move around. Pharma muscle relaxers didn't touch it, and left me with awful headaches. I'm sure you guys have heard it all, and you didn't ask for my life story. But you can pry that wheel out of my cold, de'ad hands.

This is totally NOT the chirp wheel (though it’s almost the same black & Tiffany blue color). It’s a normal yoga wheel & does not have that 5 inch space for your spine. Plus the chirp is more weighted with a thick inner pvc pipping (not as tippy$ & has more foam padding. Note how both of them do not say chirp wheel but yoga wheel - which I completely understand why they are saying the yoga wheel. I didn’t think that the 5in space on the chirp made a difference but after using the chirp & a yoga wheel - I definitely get the difference between the two.

Instead of putting pressure on the spinal column it puts pressure where it’s needed on the muscles on the side of the spine. Also it has a 500lb weight limit on it. As for being a slave for advertising - if it helps me to regain movement & be able to move and it costs as much as one chiropractic trip from these guys AND was backed by my chiropractor to help & my physical therapist - I mean 😂😂😂 oh my god maybe I need to take advice from an internet troll that’s calling me a cog who is quoting reviews off of Amazon. There are *many* different exercises and stretches for a wheel. Although for stretching (lower back and upper back) I think there are better alternatives, such as these modular "back stretcher" blocks that you can stack and adjust in height. (Not sure whether these are available outside Europe). They're also more stable than the wheel. The wheel has the disadvantage you cannot adjust height, and I felt it rather wobbly. That being said, I don't think a wheel is totally useless.

None of those alternatives supply the same acupressure along either side of the spine like the Chiro (Yoga) Wheel does, it provides superior relief, comparable to a chiropractic adjustment to the mid-upper spine, in my opinion
@SmallSpoonBrigade
@SmallSpoonBrigade 4 жыл бұрын
If you're going to use acupressure, you should use acupressure from an actual person that can tell what your body needs. I personally do a small amount of it on myself from time to time and there's no way in hell that I'd trust a one size fits all device to get it right. It would have no idea where the knots are that are relevant to the issue. For back pain, you're better off getting a workover by a chiropractor or therapist and working from there. For most people, a series of twists, bridges and L-sits will do far more for a grand total of $0 than any device will.
