I have nothing but respect for Pasta. Here's a guy who was underappreciated, treated well by his first NHL team and even though he proved himself, chose a team friendly contract. As a Leaf fan I am envious..
@august4222
@august4222 5 жыл бұрын
Hehe, the only guy who took a team-friendly deal of the big guys is Nylander. 6.9 really isn't that much for someone who I think is destined for 70+ points, plus he's insanely good in the neutral zone, both with and without the puck. Fast as hell too. Only thing that lets him down is his defensive and battle play, but wow he's fantastic at almost everything else. Matthew's contract is not great considering how incomplete of a center he is. Marners contract is just not good either. They are still very young though so they could def get better and more complete, but wow they aren't great yet. Not 10 mil+ players.

Possibly, and maybe he should fire his agent. He should be making at least $8M/yr. Probably more as Draisaitl is on a cap friendly contract, but not as friendly as Pasta's. That's a friendly with benefits contract, because he's getting f****d.

@nevertweet015 Not every team hits well with their first round picks either though. If you can get 4/5 top players (Landeskog, Mackinnon, Rantanen, Makar, plus any others) from your picks over a few years then that sets you up to be a contender. All other pieces can be gotten from good team management/trading, example being the Duchene trade where they also got Bowen Byram. Your points are fair but the fact that the Av's are a contender and only going to get better despite some questionable drafting outside of the first round proves it isn't everything, they have to be doing something right

Even though I'm a Boston Bruins fan there isn't any player in that draft is I would take before David pastrnak lacking in defense and other aspects of the defensive side of hockey but his offensive upside is Far and Away worst the lacking of Defense he has been consistent since he started and the other players are in this draft have not been consistent yes like draisaitl is a great hockey player but he seems to have a lot of up-and-down seasons where pastrnak has just consistently gotten better and better to the point where he's pretty much the best player in hockey he is a threat on any line that he is on and he makes that line that he is on 10 times better in every way without him on this team I don't think that the Bruins would be a Stanley Cup contender

Greer Fried Don’t be giving Chia credit where it isn’t due. Jeff Gorton built the core of the 2011 team. Chabot can't get his team to the playoffs. The Barzel omission was because the Bruins gambled that Ryan Spooner was going to be a NHL player. Still one of the best drafts in NHL history. There's about 4 or 5 players I'd take over Pasternak. Darisaitl, McDavid, MacKinnon, Hedman, and Crosby still. Then it gets to maybe Panarin, because he doesn't have the line mates Pasta does and puts up the same numbers. Then it's coin tosses. Matthews, Kane, Zabinijad. I'll always take a center over a winger, tougher and far more important position. The surprising thing is how few defensemen are among the top players in the game right now, especially since Karlsson stopped being Karlsson.

Even as a rookie you can see his offensive ability. If he could just gain more muscle/ strength(he got pushed around quite easily on the boards) itll reallly lift his career alot. And it did, as hes the the best pure goal scorer the B's have had since the best overall power forward ever #8

Someone should really take a shot on Honka. Has lots of skill and can be a very effective player in a top 4 role. Give him some sheltered minutes against a little worse competition and you'll have a pretty good offensive d-man. Good transitionally as well. Imo a team like Ottawa should look into getting him, especially considering how bad Dallas have been, they could need some reinforcements. Maybe Honka for a Boedker, Hainsey, Namestnikov and/or Tierney. All of those 4 are expendable for Ottawa imo, and a package with 1, 2 or 3 of them plus something would definitely get Honka.

I find it insane that the Caps could've had Pastrnak but tbf, I don't think he'd be killing it in D.C. like he is in Boston, our top 2 lines are set and aren't going anywhere for a few years so Pasta likely would've been on a 3rd or 4th line role here in D.C.
