How? Well I've had used Windows 10 in the past just FINE on such a machine, only the load times for programs and startup time were high due to it being run on an HDD, swapping that with an SSD would have worked fine. Windows 11 can also work just fine on such hardware, if it wasn't for the ridiculous TPM requirement which honestly won't matter that much in the grand scheme of the things. @@zirrow4585 it would trigger for the smallest things, the bios code to get back in was massive, changed like every day or something like that, getting the code required a 3rd party (I imagine calling into Microsoft would be the consumer equivalent). Since it’s hardware if something went wrong with it a new mb would be needed. Suspending the TPM to do work on the device was both unintuitive and too easy to do where someone who knows what they’re doing can bypass it. Again I hope they improved on it in the past 2 years I haven’t worked with TPM. I get that it’s supposed to block people from having their data stolen if they’re laptop gets stolen. But for home desktop users it’s kind of pointless. I had a feeling it slows down the read write speed since the entire hard drive is encrypted.

You have to be kidding me! I downloaded Win11 on one of my “non-production” systems the other day (it is a pretty new device). It did install and runs well. Just when I think that Microsoft has finally gotten their collective s*** together they pull this one. It looks like I am back to my Mac’s if for nothing more than sheer consumer spite.

I have a 6th gen laptop and some how was able to install it from the dev insider. At first it said my pc wasn't compatible, but after a couple of tries it started downloading the update and soon enough it installed and ran perfectly in my pc, I was pleasantly surprised.

Here’s my take. Yes, users can be made responsible for their own actions so Microsoft can ease the restrictions and release the update for all eligible systems without the TPM chip. But now that OS is more susceptible to attacks and now the people trying to access the root of the os code is able to do it much easily thanks to these insecure systems. They can use this to attack all the other Windows11 systems because of easing that security restriction! Listen, it’s not like Microsoft is asking users to rush and get a new laptop right now. That’s why they’ve given support for Windows 10 till 2025. If you want, you can just use your system till that time and then upgrade to a newer system. This is not an Opensource OS where people can make all the decisions on their own and do whatever they want.

Thing is, if that were the case it would be happening to Windows 10 as well, which it isn't

And let’s not forget there are a lot of people who have wasted a lot of money and time in building their pc just for it not to be compatible.

i dont catch the fact that you wont recieve anymore updates. Who grew with windows 7, knows that you can use it perfectely fine without updates (bc we were pirates back in the day) just by installing avast free antivirus. I used win 7 for 5 years, on service pack 1 from 2009 and never got virused😉 now im on windows 10, my laptop is compatible but i just hate the looks of windows 11 so im staying on windows 10 forever with updates disabled with winaero tweaker and a free antivirus onboard. whats the catch?
