I’m really frustrated as my husband and I eat the exact same food. He also sneaks a beer now and then. Bottom line, he has lost about 20 lbs. and I haven’t lost any. We don’t snack, at least I don’t. I usually eat twice a day. I don’t have a ketone meter, yet, but looking at your videos I would say I’m in ketosis. Also, when we started this diet, I was sick for several weeks with dizziness and leg cramps. I finally supplemented with electrolytes and that passed. I guess the next step is seeing a doctor.

Finally just broke through! Four long weeks of only eating one meal a day and one snack ( I'm an intermediate faster. It's the ONLY way I can do keto )In four weeks I lost five pounds at 20 carbs a day. I was absolutely in ketosis. So sick. I am also 53 years old and only need to lose 30 not hundreds. Got my T4 tests all blood work nothing medically stopping me. I got so sick eating high fats, and my micros were on point. I almost stopped. I had insomnia. It was horrible. Week five going into week six tomorrow, I am at 11 pounds off FINALLY, and a full almost 2 sizes. I therefore believe I was losing inches at that time and it took a minute for the scale to move. Thank God I am at optimal burning. I've FINALLY fat adapted. Knowing my body and doing ketosis before, I feel and know my own body. Moral of the story DON'T STOP! KEEP GOING! you'll break through. Strive for a better new year. Good luck

@@YeshuaKingMessiah you should go get a T4 from your doctor. The blood work is mandatory as far as I'm concerned. I got one. Here is the thing if your hormones are off ...not much you can do to lose weight. Cortisone also is affected by ketosis. So you're double doomed if you have hormone issues. I know women more than men who couldn't drop past 5 pounds they needed to be treated for the hormone being off balance FIRST. This is a little later but I also started magnesium, vitamin D, B 12 and zinc. I feel like a new person after one week of dosing yeah if you've been at it for that long and you're following the plan, something is very wrong. I'm to this day only at 13 pounds little more than a pound a week, but i refuse to stop. Too much invested. I'm dropping in inches more. Get that blood work or you're fighting a losing battle

MG actually its my rT3 is too high. I take T3 and just convert it to rT3 to get rid of it (rT3 is the version to excrete T3 when the body has too much T3). This is a very welcome video! I'd read a book on keto/low-carb several years ago in which the author insisted that calories do not matter at all. So I started eating that way, got into ketosis, and gained weight. In an online forum, people tried cornering the author of the book, who refused to say the word "calories", and finally someone was able to pin him down that yes, eating too much means you won't lose weight. That's when I realized that a) the main benefit of low-carb/keto is it helps you eat fewer calories, and b) if it looks like someone is being evasive then they probably are.

Very interesting points. Being only 2 months into Keto I find myself plateauing my weight loss. I am intermittent fasting 16/8 and eat only 2 meals a day. If its dark no food, and it really helps.

I am not losing weight. I just started the keto diet about three weeks ago, tomorrow starts week four. I'm religiously tracking all my food in MFP and weighing all my ingredients. Most days I average around 12-15 net carbs per day and keeping my calories under 1200. I am spinning 5 days a week for 30 minutes every morning fasted. I take a thirty minute brisk walk every evening. According to my apple watch I complete all of my activity circles and I am walking around 9000 steps a day. I am doing IF and average anywhere from 16-18 hours depending on how hungry I am. I drink almost a gallon of water every day and I am sleeping an average of 7-9 hours most nights. I feel like I am doing literally EVERYTHING right and I have lost 1-2lbs and I teeter between losing 2lbs and going up or down 1-2lbs. What the hell is going on? I am getting so frustrated.

Buy keto sticks , they are urine test strips. Eat 0-5 grams of carbs a day for one week it should get you into a deep ketosis. Eating fat ( solid fats help the most) causes the body to ketose more heavily and keeps you more satisfied and is used for energy on the keto diet. Check your urine every day, if there's a pink tint you are ketosing and there for loosing weight. The darker the pink the heavier you are ketosing meaning the faster your loosing weight. I got all this info from Dr. Atkins book titled Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. I read it as a teenager, it's the book my dad followed he was 400 some lb and lost all the weight in a year and a half. 400 lb to 135 lb in a year and a half is amazing! You can try looking for other successful keto dieters books or utube videos also. Ask around. But Dr. Atkins book explains it very thoroughly.

Another medical condition that may be prevent weight loss, particularly in women, is lipedema (also spelled lipoedema). It's very common but not often talked about. If you are a woman who has struggled with disproportionate weight gain in your legs, hips and/or upper arms, it could be worth checking it out. Keto is the recommended diet for lipedema, but at a certain point, lipedema fat isn't functional/accessible as an energy source because it is encapsulated in fibrosis and nodules.

Alcohol shuts your liver down from continuing to burn fat for up to 48 hours (even if food was ketogenic). 2. Nuts are full with with calories and its not a “healthy substitute “ 3. More salt in the nuts will cause water retention. Results: weight blows up on the scale. Thank you Doctor Dan for the video 🙂

I don't find it necessary to make the coffee or food tastes good . I have bought coconut oil, MCT oil, olive oil, keto syrup, etc. and usually just use olive to cook with. I eat one meal a day and maybe one snack of roasted pecans and one stick of mozzarella wrapped in salami. I do not get hungry. I lost 15 lbs. in about 1 and a half months and inches. Thanks for this excellent UK video. I buy nuts in Lidl, the cheapest by far. I put a label on the jar. 5 brazil nuts is 150 calories, 10 pecans is 150 calories etc....it helps me realise how easy it is to go over the limit. I moved from thick extra cream on my strawberries to single cream, half the calories. I use feta cheese on salads, its much less calories than lovely Cheddar, which I eat less but enjoy more. I find I eat snacks at night as a habit, but I am not hungry. If I eat lunch then I want more food later on, so I go as long as I can before I eat, then its less likely I will eat more during the whole day. If I want to go mad I eat avocados, I also use good quality Balsamic vinegar instead of mayonaisse, and it helps me cut the butter on cooked veggies. Great channel.

I also fast at least 1 day per week and feast 1 day per week. The ketone strips quit working. When I first started fasting and keto I would get purple keystones. I have lost over 30 lbs since April 2019. Now I am at a plateau but I am loosing inches and clothing sizes. I have been same weight for about 2 months. I have 20 lbs more to go. I put my little pants on that were skin tight all over and now I am so much smaller (looks like I had a body lift procedure I am so trim and firm) but the same weight I was 2 months ago. I am old and this is a slow process. I use free weights, walk and do squats and have always been active even when I was heavier.

I went to far as well at first. It's easy because you're transitioning from one thing to another and you don't want to fail so you kind of overdo it. However the best thing I found to balance out my bat is I track everything I eat otherwise I don't know what I'm eating. I use my fitness pal app and it uses micros so I don't know just how many calories but I know how much of that is protein fat and carbohydrates and I try to balance it out. I forget the percentages right now but there is a percentage that will help you balance. Of course garbage is the least amount I think like 5 to 10%. Great video. Thanks.

i think it's a bit simplistic to go back to the old "if you have fat on your body don't put fat on your plate". I mean, sure if one doesn't want to address carbs AND protein that's the way to do it and keto becomes another hypocaloric diet with added satiety, but technically, technically on fat alone, we cannot put on weight, cause if we were to eat fat alone insulin wouldn't be around to even put us in storage mode. I did a little experiment last year which was basically taking from the keckwick and Pawan study of 1956 but without the calorie limit, and without much surprise yeah, on fat alone (the fat of choice was double cream at the time) even at excess calories, the fat would not "stay on". I feel a lot of damage has been done to the keto community making people think that to lose more weight quicker they might simply go "low carb, low fat" and as someone who has done that for the first 3 years of keto and destroyed my metabolism by keeping low calories that way, it's the last thing that I feel we should tell people to do... btw link to the experiment here po.st/3000cal

I’ve been on Keto for 8 weeks. Lost 6 pounds right away and bounced back-and-forth between that ever since. I can’t seem to lose any more weight and in fact I’m already only a pound less than when I started eight weeks ago and pretty much eat similar things every day. I often do less than 20 carbs a day and get a moderate amount of walking exercise with my dog weekly. All the keto calculators pretty much tell me to stay around 1500 to 1650 calories a day for my weight, height and age. So I do focus on calories as well as net carbs and meeting my macros. It’s a pain in the ass but I take this very seriously and I work very hard at trying to balance everything out. I’m getting really discouraged. I could probably use a couple extra hours sleep a night, so I’m trying to change that. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t smoke and I don’t do any drugs. BUT... I do have a bad habit of chewing a significant amount of sugar free gum during the day and especially at night to keep me from snacking. While there are no carbs, I wonder if the constant chewing of the gum is keeping my insulin higher than it should be and therefore it’s making me insulin resistant? I don’t want to have to give up the gum but it does keep me from snacking. However, if that’s the culprit then I’ll give it up because after eight weeks of being extremely diligent, I’m really bummed. Last year I went on a low calorie vegan diet, used my fitness pal to log everything I ate (now I use Carb Manager) and within a year I lost 70 pounds that I gained developing type two diabetes that I didn’t know I had and have now cured. I have another 50 to go but I don’t want to go back to my old diet because my carbs were around 100g a day and while that’s still considered significantly low compared to the average American diet, a recent ultrasound showed that I have a fatty liver -so I know that Keto is the best diet for that. So could it be the sugar-free gum keeping me from losing weight? I’m just so desperate for answers because I’m ready to give up and I know I shouldn’t. Thanks in advance for anyone’s advice!! I want to get this weight off so I can be an inspiration to others.
@ItsCollie4 жыл бұрын
Mack Daddy thanks so much for your reply. It’s not so much that I feel like I need to snack but I’m going through a lot of stress right now and I think the gum chewing is just a bad habit in response to stress. Maybe the chewing helps to distract me…I don’t know. I only chew PUR which is sweetened with xylitol. My husband has a terminal illness and I’m his sole caregiver. The whole situation is sad and super stressful and I guess it’s better than chewing tobacco. 🤣 Since I have no other vices to escape the stress... somehow the gum chewing seems to calm me. That and binge-watching Married at First Sight. lol! But I am concerned that it’s just keeping my insulin high and it’s pretty clear to me that I’m insulin resistant -so I probably should limit the gum and actually start IF. I’m now doing bulletproof coffee in the morning and that seems to really curb my appetite where I can go most of the day without eating until dinner. It just blows my mind that I have literally done about 1400 cal or less the last three days, mostly met my macros and gained 3 pounds. Like I just wanna go play in traffic now. 😂 I am not going to give up though because regardless of the lack of weight loss, I know that this diet is the best possible diet for me in terms of keeping my liver happy and my insulin low. Even though I cured my type two diabetes now, I do have a slightly fatty liver and I want to try to repair that. I probably need to ramp up my exercise as well. I can’t remember if I mentioned in my previous note that I used to be a paramedic and it wrecked my back, so I’m limited as far as strenuous exercise. All I can really do is walk the dog. I was swimming last summer but the pool is closed because of Covid. 😞

And no, I’m not positive that I am in ketosis. I’m going to buy a meter and keep an eye on that. I just don’t know how I couldn’t be, eating 20 carbs or less a day but then I don’t seem to fit the norm with this diet anyway.
@ItsCollie4 жыл бұрын
Bought a meter and found out that I am not in ketosis! I just don’t get how I can be eating only 15-20 carbs a day max and after six months, not only am I NOT in ketosis but I haven’t lost a pound. I’ve tried doing it at lower calories versus higher calories and it doesn’t seem to change anything. And all the keto calculators tell me I should be eating roughly 1800 cal a day for my weight, height and age. I do follow the advice of several popular keto doctors and understand the whole calorie setpoint thing. But it just doesn’t seem to matter whether I eat lower calories or higher calories... I just go back-and-forth within a pound or two and always end up back at my starting point. I’m frustrated and shocked. I actually gained back the 6 pounds in water weight that I lost the first week, so I’m back up to the weight I started at. I’m even drinking 60 ounces of purified water a day, making sure to take my supplements and electrolytes. I’m lightly active ...like walking the dog and housework. I know it’s not a lot, compared to other people but I have a broken vertebrae in my lower back, so I have chronic pain that keeps me from getting more physical exercise than I would like. My Fitbit tells me that I walk anywhere between 1.5 - 3 miles a day. I generally get in anywhere from 2,000-4,500 steps a day depending on how far I walk the dog. Although exercise should not be a huge factor, as I’ve seen hundreds of stories of people losing 50-75 pounds on this diet with very little exercise. But I guess I’m severely insulin resistant. Or could there be something else wrong with me. I had my thyroid checked last year and it was fine. Anyone have any thoughts? Have you heard stories like mine where people are literally measuring and weighing and documenting everything and being extremely strict and still not losing? I do have some Erythritol/Monk fruit sweetener in some of the recipes and fat bombs that I make but it’s not excessive. However, I have read that some people are super sensitive to even the keto sweeteners and it can keep my insulin levels up. Maybe that’s the problem? I’ve cut out almost all dairy and that hasn’t changed anything. Regardless, I’m not giving up. I’ve come too far!! I’m going to figure this out if it takes me another two years!!
