Fruits today are not the same fruits that we ate 100 years ago. They all have been bred to be bigger and sweeter for profit. We also never had access to fruit 24x7 like how we do today. We have no business eating mango in December that came from Ecuador. It's very ancestrally inappropriate for our species' evolution

Since doctors all contradict each other, I listen to my body. I felt truly awful on both keto and carnivore (and vegan before those two). Through trial and error I found that the best diet for me is meat-based with a little fruit a day (i.e 1 cup grapes) and a couple of ounces of hard cheese. My digestion is perfect eating this combination (no more diarrhea or other IBS symptoms) and I feel fantastic all over and my health is very good. There's no point eating a keto or zero carb diet if you still feel absolutely awful more than a year later like I did.

My treat each night was having "a" cookie. I was riding my bike 20 miles a day. I did lose weight and then it stopped and then I started to gain weight. What vitC foods? List them pls I know ripe bell peppers have some but not alot What else?
@@JE-cy9ly This didn’t have many that I’ve come across on VitC lists but I HAD forgotten cabbage and esp fermented cabbage! Parsley is hard to eat enough of to count. Fresh only has it as heat destroys it. I took out the overtly high carb ones but added strawberries as they’re higher than the other berries listed. Berries however are rare treats on keto so 🤷🏼♀️ kale broccoli parsley green peppers cauliflower lemon juice cabbage lime juice zucchini sauerkraut asparagus lettuce garlic cucumber onion raspberries strawberries blueberries I think that site’s hypothesis that reduced BG let’s one eat reduced vitC is right. But for my sugar burner kids, I need high vitC fruits. Maybe if we ever afford to feed them vlc even (no beans and grains anymore or even porridges for brkfst) then we can switch to some sauerkraut and ripe peppers doing the job!

@@KZbinr-ep5xx Synthetic vitamins and minerals are notoriously unabsorbable. You’re simply producing expensive urine. Whole food supplements, esp the God made first supplements ever; we call them herbs/weeds. Very high in vitC - and minerals too. But if you must take pills, take ones made from wholefoods. You need much less than the ascorbic acid, etc. The good ones are made from powdered herbs/weeds! well sugar competes with vitamin c, so if you cut the sugar, you don't need as much of it. Are you doing keto? Meat is a good food to focus on to ensure you have good vitamin c levels, actually. Some will call it an antiscurvy agent.

9:20 "It hasn't added any health benefits by adding fiber" Curious, because that's exactly what this study is saying it does: Effect of a very-high-fiber vegetable, fruit, and nut diet on serum lipids and colonic function Conclusions: "The high-fiber vegetable diet resulted in the largest reduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol" "We conclude that very high-vegetable fiber intakes reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease and possibly colon cancer." The best observational studies to date found that fiber appears to significantly protect against the risk of stroke. Depending, evidently, on how much fiber they ate. Notably, increasing fiber just seven grams a day was associated with a 7% reduction in stroke risk. This seems pretty significant, but maybe that's just me?

Dr Westman, we know that populations adapt their digestive system to the environment over thousands of years. Think about dairy products. Likewise may the effect of fruit in metabolism be different, for example between Mediterranean people and Scandinavians?

@@AdaptYourLife I totally agree with that. I was referring to effects on healthy people with no pre-conditions. So I am interested, does anyone know what studies have brought this man to the conclusion that fruit makes you fat and sugar in fruit is as bad as that in candy bars? Because there are a bunch of studies that are claiming the opposite: Industrial, not fruit fructose intake is associated with the severity of liver fibrosis Conclusions: "The daily intake of industrial, not fruit fructose is a risk factor for metabolic alterations and the severity of liver fibrosis in patients with G1 CHC." Sugar, uric acid, and the etiology of diabetes and obesity Conclusions: "We found, for example, that whereas fructose from added sugars is associated with hypertension, fructose from natural fruits is not" Some biochemical effects of a mainly fruit diet in man (participants ate 20 servings a day of fruit) Conclusions: "Despite the extraordinarily high fructose content of this diet, presumably about 200 g/d, the investigators reported no adverse effects (and possible benefit) for bodyweight, blood pressure, and insulin and lipid levels after 12 to 24 weeks." Effect of a very-high-fiber vegetable, fruit, and nut diet on serum lipids and colonic function (20 servings of fruit and 44 servings of vegetables per day - Yikes!) Conclusions: "The high-fiber vegetable diet resulted in the largest reduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol" "We conclude that very high-vegetable fiber intakes reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease and possibly colon cancer." Curious if anyone has come across studies that are in contradiction to these? I like to hear the evidence from both sides when I can.

Dr. Westman has over 20 years of clinical work treating over ten thousand patients and over 100 peer reviewed papers. Here is a link to most of his published papers pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=westman+ec For folks that have Type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome fruit is no different than candy. A simple blood glucose test after eating fruit will show the same blood sugar results as eating candy. Sugar in all forms are what is driving Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It’s actually widely accepted by most diabetes associations around the world that carbs (in any form) are not advised in large amounts for T2D patients.

Fruit has its healthy place in our diet... not much and not every day, but zero fruit for everyone is not real medical advice. God didn't make ALL fruit types as the forbidden fruit. Some grain is ok too, depends on your health, the quality of the grain, the preparation, your activity level, frequency of eating, etc. Its not never. Just the right balance, if it's something you want to eat. We even have a small tolerance for sugar, it's just a low tolerance where there's no damage at all. Honey helps your health in small amounts. So does fruit. In fact, many actual poisons can help your health in small amounts, like cyanide & the active ingredient in bleach. Depends on health, amount, frequency etc.

So even when I reach my goal weight, I will not be eating bread. If you're under 20 G of carbs per day, I think it will be very hard to hard to add fruits to your diet. I found out that a whole avocado was 11 to 17 G of carbs per day and I might be able to get away with maybe half of an avocado but not a full one. I mean it has the fats and not sugary like the other fruits and I can see why it is praise and the keto community but that is if you are 30-50 grams of carbs day. But if you're 20 to 25 grams per day of carbs then probably not unless you eat half of an avocado.
