A year into keto, I've never counted calories but then I never counted carbs either. I knew how much was in the food I ate & just ball-parked it. It must have been ok because I lost 40 pounds, got off 4 bp meds, turned around a severe fatty liver as well as severe coronary calcification. So I'd call how I did keto for me a success.

Sounds great. I’ve been keto for 3 years. I found out I have a high calcium score. Happened before keto. How did you find out you had reversed your calcium? Thanks for any info on this.
@lorettadillon-ham15743 жыл бұрын
@@cindyerbil2154 if I may provide a response in the absence of one from Steve C. You will need to repeat the same examinations that disclosed your calcium score the first time. That is a CACS [coronary artery calcification score] and it helps to have a CIMT [Carotid Íntima Media Thickness] though not available everywhere is my information (depends on country and doctor) done as well. Dr Ford Brewer speaks about these tests often on his channel. It is worth having a listen, he has an extensive background in teaching other doctors and now out of retirement to teach us how to have agency over our own health. I value what he teaches as much as I value Dr Westman. They are both priceless agents of better human health for all of us. ♥️

As long as my carbs come from a green veg. I don’t get too worked up about it. Although I strictly keep it at 20 total carbs 98% of the time. Lost 83 pounds so far ( 30 more to go). Off all BP meds, no heartburn, no joint pain. Haven’t felt this well in years.

Hi, Great results, how long have you been in keto? And how much you loose a months? Do you do any high or only low intensity walking? Thanks
@susan31563 жыл бұрын
I stuck to under 20gm for 5 months but once I reached my ideal weight I increased to about 50gms but these carbs come from eating more foods like nuts, chickpeas and 100% cacao etc. Absolutely no starches or refined carbs or sugar or any fast foods or ‘keto’ store bought stuff. I went from being really fat and sick to loosing so much weight I wanted to slow it down a bit. I just love the keto diet because I’m not hungry and I’m in control of my being.

I did the 20 carbs or less for three months and lost 22 pounds. My only complaint was insomnia. I could not stay asleep for more than 2 hours without waking up. Once I lost my goal weight I started eating a half cup of oatmeal before bed and I'm back to 8 hours of sleep. I can tell when I'm no longer in ketosis because mosquitoes start biting me again.

I have the new book. He is very specific on each phase and the carbs. Lists the foods and the amount that you can eat for each phase. I just started phase 1. 20 carbs and under. Foods are numerous and easy to make a daily meal plan. I do not count calories as suggested not doing by Dr. Westman. I count only TOTAL carbs on the app I use. Seems very easy to follow. Thats what i need. Simple and not fussing over food. I have a problem with thinking about the next meal when I’m eating. So planning the whole day helps me a lot.

I took the test and phase 2 is where I’m to start. Been 20 or less for a couple of months and didn’t lose any weight. I only want to lose about 10 lbs. I do think I’ll feel better at 20-50 carbs per day. Also keep calories at about 1200. I’m in my seventies so I don’t need too many calories. 🤷🏻♀️

The quiz is just a gimmick for Westman to get your email without actually telling you your threshold. If you want to actually know your threshold (according to his quiz) you have to buy something. What else can you expect from the man who sells "page 4".

Excuse me. Dr Westman has dedicated the last 20 of his career to the research and practice of using the ketogenic diet to treat his patients. His classes and book were instrumental in helping me understand the science and application of the true ketogenic diet. Do you work for free ? I don’t think it’s fair to judge Dr Westman for needing to make a living from what he’s spent countless hours of work and research developing into a valuable program that has helped countless people reverse obesity and disease. And for your information the quiz is FREE.
