Great video! I've been wondering about feeding my plecos mushrooms due to their nutritional content and perhaps even the chitin! Do you know anything people doing this or types of mushrooms? Would you think raw over blanched or boiled? Thanks for sharing! I love the for and against types of videos 👍

Mushrooms do not lack nutrition, they do contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. I think also when we think about nutrition most of what we see is based on humans rather then a group of fishes likely evolved so much to eat them. They do have a lot of water but macrophyte plants e.g. courgettes and green beans also do too. I feed them raw as it means that less nutrition is lost and it's not needed to feed cooked which breaks down much more quickly.

What is the preferred gravel, substrate for them?
@FreshwaterIchthyology11 ай бұрын
Ideally sand so they can dig through it, some species even hide in the sand and are stressed without. For other sand is found in the gut of many species so maybe it has a purpose but I don't want to assume.

I can't remember if I've tried that with mine but usually mine are very fussy with vegetables.

Not true, several species are 5 inches and under.

As Aquagolly says there is so much diversity with so many different species. Some are large but also some are very small.
