I've always attracted men over 6 ft tall, and I'm just under 5 ft, lol. Dating is a whole complex mess on its own. Tall height can bring positive attention to a man whereas it can actually bring negative attention to a woman unless she's thin and pretty.

So when people say they prefer taller people it is something that a short person that is 5'5 cannot do anything about when the other person is 6'4.

Whenever I used to listen people judging me for my color/ height/ weight, I estimate the growth of their brains :-) Don't waste your energy on such people, just ignore them and move on. I find dark skin beautiful, I look like a total zombie next to anyone with a bit more pigment. I guess everybody has a different view on whats beautiful. I am a young girl living in Turkey. Although I'm ashamed to say this, if you're not beautiful here, you're nothing. When you meet a man, you have to change your hair, clothes and even your face. because they don't accept you any other way. If you are not beautiful and you have a boyfriend, this relationship is portrayed as a conflict of interest. I am so tired of these unwritten rules that are just culturally ingrained. I'm not beautiful compared to those people, I'm overweight, my hair is bad, I have dark skin, and many more. but like many women and girls, I want to dispel these perceptions. There are many other good ones on the Insight Meditation Timer app (it's free) and on KZbin. Also for better health try the nutritional ketogenic diet and some exercise and you'll do great. I understand everyone's points, mental illness can affect anyone. I still can't help but feel that someone who's objectively beautiful by today's standards would find it easier to be ok with their body image. In my opinion, people who look like this lady, who almost constantly get confirmation of their beauty by seeing people who look like them in media or through positive comments others give them, have more of a chance to be at peace with their body image than someone who is "too large", or "too small", or someone with obvious scars/deformities, or something else that you don't typically see in protagonists. Whether we like it or not, we live in a shallow world where appearances do matter, and they influence us whether we like it or not. I'm just speaking my mind and don't want to upset anyone. I know everyone has their own battles.

Nancy Hanna you’re right. No matter how much I try to accept myself, it’s hard because I have always been “too skinny.” Ever since I was in elementary people would comment on my weight, height (too tall), my nose (big), etc. I remember people would meet my sister and say wow “she’s so pretty. Are you sure she’s your sister? You guys look nothing alike.” Family members would comment to her about how pretty she is and it was embarrassing to me because I knew I just wanted to hide my face. Last time I saw my aunt she was commenting on my daughter’s appearance. She said “her nose is so cute. I wonder where she got it from? I know it wasn’t from you!” And she started laughing and it was again really embarrassing. I’ve always hated taking pictures and people have told me I’m not photogenic so I just avoid mirrors and pictures because of this. I’m 28 and I still just struggle with this self-acceptance when I’ve been getting negative comments for decades.
